Yosemite Lodging
Beautiful, private setting near river. The road to get to the house was 3.6 miles, one way, paved along the river. Tells you how private the property is.....Had a lovely outdoor kitchen area but none of the chefs recommended were available to cook for us. We were not allowed to use oven ourselves for fire safety purposes. There is another home adjacent to property which I was not aware of from pictures, no issue though with resident, just didn't expect it. Silverware and pans were not clean, I had to rewash quite a few dishes and several areas with cobwebs up high. I am a clean freak and I am willing to pay for a home that feels like home, so I expect close to perfection. The dirty cookie sheets and silverware though, shouldn't have happened, some cobwebs might be expected. When you pay top dollar, you really expect top everything. The furnishings were lovely to look at but terribly uncomfortable to sit in. There were 2 chairs that weren't bad and there were 4 of us. Of course we didn't spend that much time in the home because we were in the park all day but again, when you pay that much money, it needs to be close to perfect. All that said, yes we would stay there again because accommodations that are "like home" are sparse in the area.

Our visit to Moonstone Retreat was exceptional. The house and setting are extraordinary. We especially enjoyed the patio for hanging out and stargazing, as well as the outdoor kitchen area with large table. The house is well designed, as promised. The location is very convenient to Yosemite. We were able to hike each day without a long drive to the park. And it was great to come back "home" and swim in the river. Definitely recommend.

Outstanding house and location, very relaxing and restorative!
Our family loved this unique home nestled in the Sierras. Attention to detail extends to all aspects of the home, outdoor kitchen and landscape with the national forest in all directions and amazing views of the beautiful Merced river. It is a scenic, easy drive into Yosemite and such a pleasure to return to this home. This property exceeded our expectations and it’s very evident that the owners put a lot of thought into building a comfortable and beautiful home.

What makes this property unique

The Hearth
The outdoor dining area holds a hearth space for outdoor cooking. Born from a love of al fresco cooking and dining, this space is designed to gather friends and celebrate with ease in the Mediterranean climate of the Sierra. The fully equipped outdoor kitchen is ready to party with a suite of cast iron cookware and wood fired pizza equipage. The dining patio has splendid views of the canyon and a farmhouse table. A stone pizza oven and parrilla make for a festive and dynamic cooking and dining experience. Let a Fire Gaucho lead you in an evening of creating pizza or asado barbeque. They will prepare all the necessary ingredients, stoke the fires, and take you on an interactive dining experience. With dough prepared and rolled, guests get to build their own pizzas, and the Fire Gaucho expertly cooks them in the woodfired pizza oven. Asado evenings will be leisurely with the Fire Gaucho preparing and cooking all the meats and side dishes. These guided hearth experiences are offered from first chop to final dishes, all you must do is eat and enjoy.
