A great place to stay

This is a beautiful lodge. It is ideally located for the Oktoberfest and downtown Big Bear. The lodge is spacious, and the decor is charming. It has everything you want, from a video game system to a pool table. We had a blast and look forward to next year, as this is our go-to place to stay in Big Bear.

Great cabin in a great location

Our family and friends had an incredible weekend stay at this cabin. We were walking distance to many activities and a short drive to the village and lake. Bear Hug Lodge

We had a very nice long weekend stay at the Bear Hug Lodge. Our party of 6 included 4 of us in 40s-50s, a 19 Y/O and 23 Y/O. The consensus was that the home had all of the amenities for a fun comfortable stay. The game room was great. We played pool, video games and cards. The hot tub was a comfortable 104 degrees, but the jet settings were a little clunky. Kitchen was well stocked. Fireplace in the living room worked great, and the heaters kept the home nice and toasty when it got into the 20s. The location was convenient to the lake, Big Bear Mountain, shops restaurants etc. Would definitely stay again.

Peaceful and Relaxing

My husband and I went with our friends. It was nice to have two master suits, one upstairs and one downstairs. Surprisingly the beds were very comfortable. It was so quiet at night we had to turn the fan on for some noise. We had our own space when we needed it. When we were all together we gathered in the open kitchen -family room.

Final vacation before school year

The pictures of the property did not do the Bear Hug Lodge justice. The in person view of Bear Hug Lodge was outstanding! The game room was a plus and kept us busy with either playing games or watching tv on the big screen tv. Would definitely stay again!

Spectacular

Extremely pleased with the location and place itself. Lodge has great layout; found it to be very comfortable and spacious for our group of 9 (4 couples and 1 child). Seamless communication with host, provided activity/eating suggestions along with clearly defined instructions made it very helpful and easy to make our stay that much more enjoyable. Would definitely come back.

mountain cabin for family

Cabin/Lodge was great for our stay. Good location between two ski areas, very clean. Nice game room down below for evening entertainment after skiing. Management/owners were very responsive and made us feel very welcome. The downstairs room is difficult for two people as the heater is extremely close to the bed. Was okay for single person. Overall would definatley stay there again.

Literally had the red carpet treatment as it was indeed rolled out for us. We will definitely return again

Cozy, clean, and perfect

Our group was two women (best friends) and five children. We loved staying at Bear Hug Lodge! While we did spend time at the lake, there was enough to do at the lodge that we could hang out there while the kids played outside, watch movies, or play video games. Everything was incredibly clean, the kitchen had everything needed for cooking, the jacuzzi was perfect, and the owners were flexible for checking-in and checking-out. I honestly can’t think of anything I would change or improve.

Best stay

The whole experience was amazing. The communication with the owners and the caretakers was second to none. They offered early check in and was available when we got to the location. The place was amazing. A game room with video game system, shuffleboard, darts and a pool table. A tv in every room. Three bathrooms and 4 bedrooms made this place perfect for the 7 of us. Three couples and one single. The hot tub was well maintained and a lot of fun. The deck was nice and relaxing. It was just down the block from the convention center and only 5 minutes from downtown Big Bear. 5+ stars for this place and the owners.

Great time at Bear Hug Lodge

Our group of nine stayed at Bear Hug Lodge in March 2024. Great location. Less than 10 minutes to groceries, shops, and snow summit ski resort. Snow tubing right around the corner. The house was very spacious and comfortable for 5 adults and 4 kids. Extra blankets and towels were plentiful. The game room was a lot of fun and the hot tub after a day on the slopes was a big hit! A set of washer and dryer on each floor was a huge convenience after being on the road for a week. Hosts, Ed and Pam, were outstanding with their detailed emails before arrival and very responsive via text throughout our stay. We stayed during the first week of Spring but were still lucky to experience snowfall which was very exciting for a few of us that had never experienced snow before. Just remember to carry those chains for your car. Bear Hug Lodge was perfect for our first visit to Big Bear. We'll be back!

We loved the Bear Hug Lodge!

We just got back from our four night stay at the Bear Hug Lodge and already can’t wait to go back. The lodge is so cozy inside and the theming with the bears is amazing. We stayed over Christmas and were excited to see they had decorations, including a little tree by the fire place. Our kids (4,6 and 7 years) loved having their own Bear Cub Den. Ed was so nice and attentive. He gave us a big list of recommendations for places to eat and it was so helpful as we had never been there before. The check in process was quick and easy and the house was filled with all the essentials you might need. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, coffee, pots and pans, and plenty of dishes. We also really enjoyed having the game room and got a lot of use out of the pool table. All in all we had zero complaints or issues and hope to make this a Christmas tradition for our family!

Bear Hug Lodge Lives Up To It's Name

We chose Bear Hug Lodge for our first visit to Big Bear Lake because of the size and description we read on VRBO and it did not disappoint. Three good size bedrooms and a separate ground floor suite made for plenty of space for 5 adults and three kids. The suite had a futon which we pulled out for one of the kids so everyone had plenty of space and could sleep on their own schedule without others disturbing them. Common spaces included open concept kitchen/diner-living room, large game room with lots of games including vintage electronic games (The kids loved pac-man and space invaders) and a work out room with fitness equipment but which we used mainly for tumbling and yoga on the padded floor. There were even Washer/Dryer facilities on each floor. Hot Tub in moderately spacious backyard was a real plus. Great for sore backs after hiking or morning coffee. House was close to everything (less than 5 min drive to shops, restaurants, lake and trails). Contact with the managers was easy and instructions were clear and easy to follow. We had a great time and would highly recommend to anyone. Much better than the much higher priced places right on the lake.
