About this property

Mountain Playhouse - Steamy Hot Tub & Pool Table

Within Legacy Mountain Resort in the treetops of Pigeon Forge awaits YOUR Mountain Playhouse — with incredible mountain views through walls of windows and from the open and covered decks. This pet-friendly, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin rental sleeps 8 and features relaxing amenities to keep friends and family in good spirits.

Sip morning coffee on the sofa in front of the electric fireplace while gazing at the mountains. Change into your swimsuit to soak aching muscles in the bubbly hot tub for a spell. Sway with a good book in the rocking chairs. Cook meals in the fully equipped kitchen or with the charcoal grill and dine at the table and breakfast bar.

For more fun, mix cocktails at the wet bar, watch DVDs on the big screen TV, and play pool, foosball, and arcade games in the rec spaces. Within the community, you can also splash at the pool in summer, work out in the fitness center, unwind in the sauna, and grab a bite to eat. To further slow down, draw yourself a hot bubble bath in one of the indoor jetted tubs!

When you're ready to say goodnight, split off into the bedrooms — each with mountain views, a king-size log bed, and a TV. Additional homey conveniences include a washer and dryer to reuse towels and wash clothes after hiking, horseback riding, or ziplining in the Smokies plus high speed Wi-Fi to stay connected with your online friends. There are also board games to play together, and parking is paved. Make Mountain Playhouse YOUR next memorable vacation today!

Beautiful view!
We enjoyed our time in the cabin. The weather was nice so we spent some time on the balcony enjoying the view and some sun. We did have a guest that was sitting at our front door every day......cat that was very friendly. Not sure if the previous renters forgot him but it seemed like he was familiar with this particular cabin. Someone even left the blanket under the stairs for him. We always enjoy our stays in the Legacy Mountain Resort.

Fantastic view!
What a beautiful property! The photos don't do justice to the beauty of the view. The beds were comfortable, and the games and hot tub were great. The pool is at the top of the mountain and has a great view. It’s large with 3-5ft depth and a fantastic pool-side restaurant, that is fairly priced with delicious food. You can even spot zip-liners from the pool as they careen over the canyon next to it. The sauna and stream room there are closed indefinitely. There are 4 reasons I gave the cabin 4 stars instead of 5. #1- there were no instructions on how garbage was to be handled and many neighbors were overfilling/leaving open the bear boxes, and bears were coming up to the cabins and going through the garbage. On 4 occasions, there was a momma bear with her 2 cubs going through trash next to the cabin. We loved seeing bears, but not under these circumstances. I called after 9 days when our box became full and it was emptied same day, but I find it strange and dangerous for the whole resort to lack scheduled trash pick-up or proper instructions. #2- There was only 1 small dresser in the entire cabin for clothing. Considering this is marketed for up to 8 people, this detail is quite inconvenient. No shelving and the closets in the 2 bedrooms were both jammed with Christmas trees, furnace filters, and linens making it difficult to hang anything up. Out of our family of 6, 4 of us lived out of our suitcases for 2 weeks. #3- there were very minimum supplies in the kitchen. No microwave safe bowls to heat food. There was only 1 small plastic mixing bowl to prepare food in. Much of what I planned to prepare I was unable to, and I'm not an extravagant cook by any means. The situation was much more dire when I first arrived. I mentioned these things and management was partially responsive, bringing some new pans when I forwarded pictures of the Teflon peeling off. Also, there was nowhere to store dry stock food. Just one shelf please... #4: the main floor bathroom has a huge window facing the street located right in front of the toilet. Whatever is happening in the bathroom can be clearly seen at night around the wooden blinds. Kinda disconcerting. Even with these frustrations, it was a lovely cabin and a lovely vacation.

Beautiful views
The way to get to the cabin was horrible. The roads are narrow and windy and one road called knotty branch rd was the worst. We almost crashed twice with the oncoming cars. The road is steep. Anyway, the cabin was nice. Beautiful wood throughout and the views were amazing. The cabin needs to be maintained better. Some lights in the master bathroom did not work. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen light is not bright enough. The pool area was nice but you need to drive there. The pool was good for kids. The deep end is in the middle. It’s a nice place but I will not be returning

Weekend at the Playhouse
I will start with the view, which was absolutely beautiful. The directions were clear, there was parking, it was convenient to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but not crowded. The rental company provided emails with instructions and door codes and we had no need to speak to anyone on the phone. We had a lovely time, the house was tidy enough and everything it said on the listing was there. We did find the dishwasher full of dirty dishes, but surely that was just an oversight and otherwise, everything was in order. There were a few issues I think it would be helpful for people to know, so I will mention them here. First, we arrived to find caution tape on the loose entry railing. I feel like someone could have fixed it before renting the place, but perhaps parts were an issue. It is a short railing, so it wasn't a huge deal. The bigger concern was the railing on the deck of the main level, which was also loose and is cantilevered over a steep incline three stories in the air. It was scary and needs to be secured. The rail is also about 5 inches from the floor of the deck, so if you have a small pet they could slip under it. We opted out of using that deck at all and used the one on the lower level, which was secure, still had the same view and was also by the hot tub. Next, the beds were not great. I am not too picky in this regard, but the one on the lower level bedroom had a literal bend at mid back. Both beds seemed like very old mattresses that just had a foam topper added. The linens were fine with plenty of extra sheets, towels and pillows. The upper bed was better than the lower, in that it did not have an obvious bend, but if people are very particular about their mattress, this might be a real issue. Finally, I'll talk about what was deliberately not mentioned in the listing. Perhaps this was naive of me, but having rented other (even some non-luxury) VRBO listings which were very thoughtfully appointed with all essentials (and some fun surprises) this one was not. Each bathroom had a little circular bar soap that was about 1/4 inch thick and literally nothing else. There was no body wash, no shampoo or conditioner, 2 trash bags, 1 dishwasher soap and the roll of toilet paper in each bathroom was an affront. I paid over $1K for two nights and I don't think a few sample toiletries and half-decent TP is too much to ask in a "luxury rental". Having to schlep to the grocery immediately for shampoo and ice cubes was not my favorite.
