The Space:
This is the back unit of a historic craftsman home with private entrance and gorgeous deck located 1.5 blocks from Duke's East Campus. Come stay in Durham's Historic Walltown-- close to Monuts Donuts, Whole Foods, Juju Asian Fusion, Harris Teeter, Dales Indian Cuisine, The Federal and more!

The unit has two rooms- the front door opens into the spacious eat-in-kitchen with fridge and gas stove. A door opens into the back room which is set up in a studio style and contains the Queen bed, fold out couch, closets, tv, big windows, and a nook for the washer dryer. We use Free & Clear Unscented laundry detergent on bedding and towels so our guests with sensitivities to perfumed products can breath easy. You also have private access to the spacious deck complete with a bistro table and chairs.

Guest Access:
You'll access your space by parking on street and following the gravel path to your private back deck overlooking the backyard. The door has an electronic keypad so you can arrive when convenient and come and go as you please.

The Neighborhood:
Historic Walltown is a diverse, mixed income neighborhood 1.5 blocks from the Duke East Campus walking path.

Getting Around:
It is a short trip to 9th street, and all of Durham's finest bars, restaurants and attractions. Also easy access to the Bull city connector and Duke and Durham bus lines. Uber and Lyft are abundant as well.

Other Things to Note:
As this is the back unit of another Rental, we ask guests to be respectful of noise, especially after 9pm and before 8am.

We have a Smart TV with access to Netflix, your Amazon or Hulu account, and many other apps. We Cut the Cord on Cable, but offer YouTubeTV which functions similar to Cable and offers tons of Live or On Demand Options!

Interaction with Guests:
We want you to be able to settle into this home as if it was your own. We'll stay out of your way, but we're just a quick message away if you have questions about restaurants, events or the house, or if an unexpected issue arises.

We are happy to answer questions that you may have! Whether it's a hankering for a local cider, a sudden urge for a new haircut or a desperate need for a donut, we are happy to help you find the closest and best place to make that happen.

Comfortable and beautiful home, excellent experience

This rental is beautifully decorated and is generously supplied with enough kitchen and bath necessities and good quality blankets, sheets, and towels to make a long-term stay very comfortable. The host was easy to reach, quickly responding to any questions or issues. Since I was staying here while trying to become more familiar with the Durham area, I appreciated the location, which is in a lovely and very walkable neighborhood with easy access to downtown Durham, grocery stores, local restaurants, and several parks. Because it met my needs well, I decided to extend my stay here, and I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family, when they come to visit. Two things to consider: there are a few wooden steps to climb to get to the back deck entrance, which might be an issue for some, if you have a lot to carry. Also, you will likely hear occasional footsteps and voices from the adjoining larger rental at the front of the house. However, the host tries to make guests on both sides aware of being considerate and quiet, especially overnight, and if there is any excessive noise, he will work to resolve it.
