Lakehouse cabin perfect for family holiday vacation

We were disappointed by this review, particularly given the circumstances surrounding this guest’s stay. From the moment she arrived, the guest was extremely emotional, crying and screaming, and was so distressed that she struggled to enter the four-digit code to access the property. We personally visited the property to help address the situation. After witnessing her distress firsthand, we immediately offered her family a refund if that would make the situation better. They declined, explaining that the rest of the family was enjoying their stay and that they would handle the situation themselves. Regarding the lake, water levels fluctuate seasonally, but there was still sufficient water for fishing. In fact, her family spent time down by the dock, and her father was fishing during their stay. We therefore do not understand the claim that the water was inaccessible. Regarding the mold allegation, no evidence was provided to substantiate her claim, and there is no mold issue at the property. We maintain five dehumidifiers, more than twice the recommended number for our home, all set to maintain 50% humidity to help prevent mold growth. The guest also arrived already taking antibiotics for a sinus infection, which may have contributed to the discomfort she described. We genuinely sympathize with her and her family. Having experienced similarly distressing situations with loved ones navigating an early-stage diagnosis, we understand how challenging these circumstances can be and sincerely hope things improve for everyone involved. Unfortunately, Vrbo’s policy does not allow the removal of reviews simply because a host disputes their accuracy. Although we never wanted to publicize these personal circumstances, we felt it necessary to respond to protect our business.
