We very much enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful and the proximity to the canal trail is wonderful. Beds are very comfortable. House is adorable. Kitchen could be better equipped. I bought a few extra coffee cups and left them for the next guests.
The property was great for relaxing, touring local history and enjoying the recreation on the Potomac River and bike trail. We had a slight issue with the water heater, called the property contact and the problem was fixed within the hour. Excellent service and great stay. We would stay again.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Potomac River Retreat. From visiting Harpers Ferry, playing the slots at Charles Town Casino, to taking the self-guided tour of Antietam National Battlefield Park, hiking the Maryland Heights Trail via Harpers Ferry, and walking the C&O Canal tow path. To eating at Captain Benders and getting sandwiches and snacks at Battleview Market. And simply enjoying the fire pit. Thank you for the great experiences
Taylors Landing was an amazing getaway for our family! It was a beautiful property, secluded area and so many opportunities for exploring and fun with little ones! They responded very quickly to any questions and/or problems and helped right away!
Thank you for a great stay in a beautiful setting. The house’s set up was perfect for our multigenerational vacation—privacy for the grandparents downstairs and lots of comfortable space for our family of three upstairs. Such a peaceful setting lets you fully appreciate the natural beauty of this area.
We stayed here for my wedding weekend with our bridal party (7 of us). It was the perfect size house to fit us all and accommodate our different sleeping and getting ready arrangements. Easy check in and check out process and the hosts were quick to respond. Wish we could’ve stayed longer to explore the area!
On the banks of the Potomac River, this lovely little spot is a short drive from Antietam, Shephardstown, Charles Town and Harper's Ferry. It is also only a moderate distance from Gettysburg and DC. Strongly recommended!
We had a very nice stay. The property was as advertised. We had a couple of small issues and the owner was very quick to respond and wanted to make sure things where taken care of.
We stayed here for the JFK 50 race and it worked out perfectly. Right in the middle of Boonsboro and Williamsport, it was the perfect location. The house was even larger than I expected. Plenty of couches and space to spread out. Although we didn't take advantage of it, the yard was awesome. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location and very well appointed. Good directions for locating the property and check in. Was all automated messages
Unfortunately on the last evening, the water mysteriously shut off at 6:30pm. I had no success contacting anyone via VRBO's message feature so I pushed the Contact button put me in touch with an old property manager who fortunately knew the owner. Water came back on but hours later, late in the evening, we figured out that the water heater hadn't turned back on. No response from the owner resulted in cold morning showers. New owner listing on the other site. donpragain.
Taylor's Landing Retreat was in a great location for everything we had planned for our trip. We explored the Crystal Grotto Caves, Antietam battlefield, Gettysburg and lots of fishing and swimming in the Potomac River. The yard was beautiful and spacious. The far back of the yard is gorgeous. The cabin had all of our basic necessities, blankets, pillows, towels, pots & pans, dishes, cooking utensils, coffee maker, ect. It was very clean with plenty of room for all 8 of us. The kids took advantage of the yard with games and we had nice fires. We all felt at home including the dogs during our stay. The beds were very comfy. The owners were very responsive to our emails and questions. We really enjoyed our stay.
This property was perfect for our group of 5 - but could accommodate many more. The kitchen is well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the linens were very nice. Although we did not utilize it - the back yard is huge and the fire pit area was very nice. Short walk to the boat ramps to the Potomac River - a nice place to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The property does not have central AC but the window units performed well….downstairs got a bit warm and humid - but certainly not a deal killer! Great smart TV in living room made dow easy use of streaming movies in a rainy day. Hosts are super quick to respond and were a pleasure to work with.

Antietam getaway stay
This was a cozy place to stay and very convenient for our visit to Antietam Battlefield and to Harper’s Ferry! The key pad entrance code was confusing! The link to the property when I booked provided a keypad code. This same keypad code was also the same code that was listed in the instructions binder inside the property. This code was not correct! I had to search through my VRBO emails to find! Also bad smell in first floor bathroom.

Great Location...but needs work
Pros: Location and very spacious
Cons: House needs a deep cleaning and maintenance.
House was not very clean inside or out. The previous guest (?) had left trash in the first pit including a bunch of dirty diapers. The host did finally send someone to clean it out 2 days later, but it shouldn't have been there in the first place. All of the dishes had to be washed before you could use them, etc. Also, there was a smoke detector that kept beeping (low battery). This led us to realize there were no smoke detectors hanging in any of the rooms upstairs - but we found the beeping one hanging in a closet?!? And just an FYI for anyone else considering the property - the grill is not propane. We showed up planning to grill and had to run to the store for charcoal. Not a deal breaker, but annoying. Overall it was disappointing. Especially since it's a nice location and property.
The house could have been cleaner or had clorox wipes to clean it better. It was nice and big for our family with adult kids and our dog. The fire was nice to sit out and relax. Dining room table was big and perfect for board games. Overall we had a good experience and great family time.
We had absolutely the best time. The house was as advertised. What a beautiful setting on the river. Definitely on the return list. Need to try the spring/summer season so we can go tubing and kayaking. Great getaway spot
The only positive comment I can make here is that I was reimbursed for one night. We were booked for three nights with my son and his family, but it was so dirty I couldn't possibly let my toddler granddaughter stay there. My husband and I left a day early. I asked for a vacuum cleaner to clean the place myself but never got one. The lower level smells of mildew. There were no towels or bedding for the downstairs. Based on this experience I will never book another VRBO.
In decades of trvael this was the most discusting, dirty and unsanitary property I ever booked. We could not spend the night there is was that filthy. We had to scramble to find another place. There was a large wasp nest in the bedroom. All the towels and bedding were on the utility room floor unwashed and bug infested. The stove and oven were covered in burned food, the dishwasher was full of unwashed dirity dishes with caked on food. The Beds were stripped bare and the bathrooms pig pen dirty. There was dust everywhere. We tried many multiple times to reach the owners with no response by email, text or return phone calls. It took over two weeks to get a partial refund which then they held back over $100 for no reason. No apology, no effort to rectify. An absolute nightmare.

Beautiful location and home
The cleanliness of the property left something to desired. It had not been vacuumed or mopped. But that was minor. It had a lot of space and the yard was great. We picked up some firewood and used the fire ring. Took advantage of several local trails as well.
