Great stay in town

It was so nice to stay right downtown with so many shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The home is very comfortable and is well stocked with everything you need. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to Cambria.

Great stay!

We had a great stay at this beautiful property. The location was the best - so convenient to be able to walk to restaurants and shops. The beds were comfortable, the property was immaculately clean, and Tristan was a wonderful host. We’ll be back!

Charming and perfect location

I booked this stay for a mini family staycation, and we had such a wonderful time. The location was perfect, the house was super charming, there are so many beautiful hikes and beaches nearby, and so many beautiful restaurants and wine bars within walking distance. The host was super responsive, accommodating, and even gave us helpful tips on places to go see. I would highly recommend staying here!

Great Stay!

The Yellow House on Main! The house is very cozy. We had a great stay! We were within walking distance to everything. If you are looking for a great place for dinner check out Indigo Moon right across the street! We enjoyed our visit to Cambria! Thanks Tristan!

Great location in Cambria

Cute small place - older centrally located home with nice amenities and small backyard. We didn’t cook so enjoyed the location close to restaurants, vineyards and hiking! Tristan was great with recommendations!

PERFECT HOME AWAY FROM HOME

This was our second stay at this property. It's perfect. It's close to everything, It fells like home. I love the open layout, and since it sits up on a hill, you don't get bothered by people walking by.

Labor Day weekend

The yellow house is comfortable and well stocked. Best part the house is walking distance to East Cambria and our favorite store the Garden Shed. Short drive to wineries, Morro Bay, Cayucos and Moonstone Beach.

Wonderful stay at Cambria

The property was right in the middle of downtown. The home was well stocked and the host left us wonderful treats. The bedrooms were so comfortable and very quiet at night. We could walk to shops, restaurants, and explore this great town. We also were very close to the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve where we hiked on the bluffs trail. The views were spectacular. Overall, it was a great experience! Thank you, Tristan!

Little yellow house with a Big Happy Attitude

perfect get away, central downtown (East end) location. Set up nicely for small dog. Thoughtful gestures, such as cozy socks (to keep if you wear), Treats for you and for your dog. Nicely stocked with many amenities, ie: spices, coffee, paper towels, etc. Will for sure stay here again when in the area!

Great Stay in Cambria

My wife and I went to visit my brother in Cambria as we have many times in the past. This time, instead of staying at a place near his home, we stayed here closer to the far end of town. Except for some issues getting into the place (the batteries on the security system decided to fail), the home was outstanding. Very comfortable and perfectly located. The owner of the property was very responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Charming getaway

The house is wonderfully located in downtown so it's an easy walk to many restaurants and galleries. It is an older building with all the quirky charm yet fantastic modern amenities (superb stove, fast internet, great array of cooking spices and utensils). Tristan is a fabulous host, very thorough and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this historic gem.

Perfect Stay w/dogs

Super cute Victorian house. Our 2 Frenchies (dogs) loved the space, they had all the essentials needed for them. Big plus was the doggie door that leads to the secure back yard for potty. Although the house is on Main Street it’s away from the street so you don’t really hear people walking by. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Loved our time there and hope to return!

Perfect location in the perfect coastal town

This was my second visit to Cambria. My previous visit was a stay at one of the small hotels along the beach. Staying at The Yellow House on Main was much preferred! Having the shops outside the door, along with great food options, was lovely. I did still walk to Moonstone Beach (got 10k steps in before 8:15 am)! The house was clean with great amenities, the host was communicative, and the policies clear and easy to follow. Can’t wait to return!

Great, cozy and comfortable place.

We couldn’t be more happy with our stay. The house is super tidy, perfectly equipped and really sweet. It’s in the center of the town with lots of shops cafés etc. The communication with Tristan was perfect. On a very short notice he made it possible that we could check in over an hour earlier.

Restful Getaway with the Dogs

The house is a cute old Victorian. Everything was set up very nicely for the pets. Pet beds, food and water bowls, protective sheets for the beds and furniture and a fantastic, secure back yard for 'potty'. Kitchen is very well equipped, big TV with lots of streaming choices (we just wanted to get away and veg), quiet and walking distance to our favorite french bakery and restaurant (Robin's). Loved our time there and hope to return!

Excellent rental.

Excellent location downtown Cambria. Walking distance to the coffee shop and a couple restaurants . Home had more amenities than we expected. We brought items we didn’t even need because they were already provided. We would definitely rent the house again if we go back to Camera. I would highly recommend it without hesitation. You won’t be sorry.

We LOVED Cambria ...

... and this home was in the perfect spot if you want to park for a few days and walk everywhere, which was our goal. So many terrific restaurants and a great market just a stroll away. It's a longer walk to the beach, but a very short drive and I couldn't believe how few people were there. It was the perfect getaway. The home was lovely and very clean and comfortable. One day, when we're retired, I'd love to arrange to stay for a month and just settle in. Thank you for the hospitality. We hope to be back.

Beautiful and cozy getaway with friends

The yellow house on main is a delight. It has all the modern amenities you could hope for with the character of a 1910 home. Tristan is so thoughtful, adding some snacks and waters for guests as well as giving great suggestions for where to get a great meal or cup of coffee. Our suggestions: dinner at Indigo Moon is a MUST! Their patio and Garden is just adorable and the food: DELICIOUS. For breakfast or a quick bite: Lily’s Coffee House and while you wait for food shop at The Garden Shed. For Antiques: Rich Man Poor Man and Antiques on Main. Grab an afternoon snack at Linns: Olallieberry Lemonade and Pie. We drove to the West Village and got Teas at Verde and gifts at Home Arts, plus you can hit up Moonstone Beach. It was a GREAT stay and we were so delighted and grateful for the Yellow House on Main.

Perfect Location!

We chose this house because of its age (over 100 years young!) and the fact they were dog-friendly. It turned out to also be a perfect location......right across the street from a wonderful coffee shop (Lilly's) and a fabulous restaurant (Indigo Moon) as well as convenient to shopping charming Cambria. The bonus was the proximity to Fiscalini Preserve Trail which was prox. 1/2-3/4 mile away which we thoroughly enjoyed walking.......didn't have to drive anywhere unless you were visiting a winery! : )) This house is immaculately kept......and filled with lots of good energy and love. The owners obviously care about presenting a top notch product. We definitely will return......Cambria is on our go-to short list of places we plan to visit as often as possible.

Fantastic Stay

Everything was perfect. The house located on the main street with shops, restaurants, etc, close by. Short walk to the beach or you can drive there. The house had just about every amenity you could ask for. the description of the house in the ad actually understates the home. Our pup was even more at home then we could have hoped for. Tristan supplied everything you could need for your dog. We brought everything for him, but next time we will leave many of his "things' at home since everything is there. The beds are very comfortable as is the furniture in the living room. Our host, Tristan, was helpful and answered our questions immediately. We were thoroughly impressed and found this to be one of our best VRBO experiences. THANK YOU

Weekend Stay

Pros: Property was clean. Convenient location so you can walk to shopping & dining. Nice decorating. Cons: We visited Cambria in February 2023 & the house heat sources were inadequate. The heater in the living area was too small for the area. Fortunately our family members travel with extra blankets so we used those in addition to what the owner provided so we could bundle up while watching TV & visiting. We were not able to control the bedroom heaters so it was very uncomfortable for sleeping; either too hot if they were on & too cold if you turned them off. At one point a fuse blew & we had to contact the owner who did respond promptly. The coffee provided was only enough for 1 pot & the treats left for the guests had expired in 2022. The front door did not always lock automatically so be mindful of checking the door.

So Rad!

Full disclosure: I don't want everyone to know how amazing this place is because I don't want a bunch of competition when I try to book it again, and again, and again! ...but I will give an honest review none-the-less. There was a rain storm during our trip and despite my initial disappointment since we couldn't walk around much, this was the PERFECT place to cozy up on the comfy couch with blankets, gaze out the huge windows overlooking Main Street, and watch movies. Our dogs LOVED the low, large front windows and the view! Hours of entertainment for them! This historical, yet updated house, was as cute as could be and the small fenced backyard was super convenient for dog potty-breaks. I was a little worried after reading other reviews about the "steep driveway and stairs" leading up to the house, but neither were at all as bad as some have mentioned. Really a non-issue! This truly is an amazing place to stay! Communication with the host was great. The house is cute, comfy, and centrally located. Very dog friendly!! "Your time and money will not be spent in vain, if you stay at The Yellow House on Main!" (I'm copywriting that slogan I just made up. HAHA!)

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
This house was built in 1910, refurbished in 1988, and again in 2020. I call this my rehabilitating retreat. I have always had people living here, mostly family, but I have decided I love it too much not to be able to come to stay whenever I want. I spend half my time here and the other half in LA. Every time I come here, I leave refreshed and renewed. I am not sure if it is the ocean, the pine trees, the sunsets, or the house, but I suspect it is the perfect combination of all that makes this place so special.

I wanted to allow others to enjoy this little soul-refreshing Gem so I have decided to welcome others into my home in the hopes it can wash away some of your day-to-day grunge and replace it with a renewed energy

2020 was spent remodeling and feel I have been able to breathe life back into this old house. She responded well and is ready for new energy from those who visit.

Why they chose this property

This is a historic property and one of the original buildings in Cambria. The same builders who built this property also built the Hearst Castle. Because this house is commercially zoned, it is in the thick of shopping, restaurants, and wine tasting and is close to one of the best restaurants and coffee shop in town.

The view from the porch will remind you that "it IS the pines that make Cambria so special." The ocean is also just a short walk through the woods.

Lastly, if you have dogs, they love it here. Cambria is absolutely a dog-friendly town

What makes this property unique

Walking distance to Restaurants, Spa, wine tasting, shops, coffee shops, hiking, beach
