About this property

Large farmhouse with four bedrooms

The quietly situated property, typical of the Cévennes, is very spacious and ideal for a holiday with children.
The centre of the house is the large rustic kitchen-living room and the adjoining living room from which you have direct access to the large south-east facing terrace. Here you can already enjoy the sun in the morning and the view of the garden, the river and the mountains. After sunbathing in the afternoon, the warm summer nights invite you to an evening barbecue on the terrace grill. For the sporty ambitious there is a table tennis table in the spacious attic.

activities: The river below the house is particularly popular. Small children can also explore it safely. Follow the river bed and discover many a small swimming area.
Also when driving or hiking in the wider surroundings you will find numerous bathing places in the many rivers and streams of the Cevennes. A must is also a trip to the Tarn, about 50 minutes away, whose gorges are best explored by canoe. Already the trip there on the Cevennes panoramic road (Corniche des Cévennes) is an experience. From here you can enjoy wonderful views of the Cévennes mountains before reaching Florac. In autumn and spring the conditions are ideal for hiking.
The day of arrival is Saturday or Sunday. Other arrival days are possible after agreement.
Please ask for the arrival date before booking!

Sheets, towels and kitchen towels are not provided. Please bring them with you.
The final cleaning has to be done by yourselves.

Heating costs are not included in the rent. The house is equipped with central heating which is fed by a pellet boiler. The costs are assessed according to consumption and amount to between € 5 and € 10 per day.

As you can also see from the comments of one of our guests, the access to the cottage from the road is not asphalted and leads along a gravel road of about one kilometre. This path can be washed out after heavy rainfall, which can occur especially in the winter months, and is only partially passable. Access is not possible with a sports car or lowered vehicle! Please ask before you book.

Remote house for calm stay away from anyone

We spent two very calm and relaxed weeks. The house offers many more sleeping opportunities than we needed (we were 4, the house can accommodate 12+ people), which meant our two sons did not have to share a room and we could use one room only for gymnastics. Les Plantiers is a quick car's drive (to get fresh bread in the morning) or a 30 min footwalk one-way for an afternoon swim; a small calm village (bring your boule balls) with good swimming opportunity in the small river. Very nice (and cooler) swimming/diving 20 min drive at St. André. Good starting point to see both the Gorges du Tarn, les Grandes Causses to the west, but also towards Anduze / Ales in the east. The house has a very nice, spacious entry/lounge/kitchen/eating area - all one big room with a huge table and several sofas. The terrace is huge but being only 4 the roof was enough for us, we did not have to place a sunscreen. In combination, the terrace - big room makes for a very comfy resting area. At night, you hear the animals of the forest - very nice. Take the warning about the driveway seriously. We actually loved the secludedness that accessway provides. No direct contact with hosts, but that was completely unproblematic.

Superbe maison cévenole mais chemin d'accès difficile avec une Peugeot 308

Grande maison ancienne cévenole au calme dans la verdure. Terrasse avec une vue magnifique sur les montagnes. Je déconseille pourtant cette maison à ceux qui ont une voiture basse (type Peugeot 308) car le chemin d'accès est en cailloux avec des déversoirs. Une voiture type Peugeot Partner est plus adaptée. Nous avons dû laisser la voiture à mi chemin et finir à pied. Si vous avez une voiture avec une garde au sol haute, cette maison est un bon choix.

Maison au calme et dans la nature

Séjour très agréable au cœur des Cévennes. Maison avec la rivière en contrebas. Un bel espace de vie, une grande terrasse pour manger dehors et tout le nécessaire. Merci beaucoup pour ces belles vacances ! 😊

Comme vous pouvez le voir dans les évaluations la plus grande partie des commentaires sont positive. D'après la description sur le site d'Abritel, il s'agit d'une maison typique avec un équipement basique. Si vous voulez plus de confort, comme par exemple une salle de bain avec baignoire, il vaut mieux réserver un logement plus luxueux donc plus cher. Mais même dans notre maison, il y a suffisamment d'équipement et de vaisselle pour accueillir six personnes. En ce qui concerne la télévision, dans notre partie de la vallée, la réception n'est possible que par satellite. Malheureusement, au moment du séjour de ce client, l'antenne parabolique était orientée vers le satellite Astra qui ne diffuse que peu de chaînes francophones. Par ailleurs, dans la description de la maison nous informons en détail sur accès à la maison et nous recommandons à plusieurs reprises et de manière explicite de bien s'informer concernant l'accès avant de réserver.

Nature et calme

Nous avons passé une semaine délicieuse dans ce superbe mas cévenole. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié son isolement en pleine nature. La maison est aménagée sobrement mais avec goût, de sorte que l'on s'y sent très vite à son aise. La terrasse est particulièrement agréable. Quel bel endroit !!

Une vue et une situation exceptionnelle!

La maison est vaste, belle et rustique; typiquement cévenoles avec ses pierres et son grand âtre ( certes condamné mais magnifique à voir)! La vue est splendide et la proximité avec la nature idéale.

"Burg" am Hang in der schönen Natur der Cevennen

Über den kleinen Zufluss des Gardon,in dem man sogar am Ende des Sommers noch direkt unterhalb des Hauses schöne kleine Badegumpen findet, schlängelt sich ein gur befahrbarer Schotterweg hinauf zum Haus, das mehr als idyllisch auf halber Höhe über dem Tal thront.Spätestens beim Betreten des Hauses, oder wenn man auf der grossen Terasse steht, fühlt man sich als "Burgherr".Das Innere des Hauses vermittelt durch sein Alter und die liebe- und geschmackvolle Einrichtung eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre und man fühlt sich Jahrhunderte zurückversetzt, dennoch mangelt es an nichts.Zum Kochen, Backen,Braten all der leckeren frischen Sachen, die man wunderbar auf den nahegelegenen Wochenmärkten oder direkt bei den Erzeugern in bester Qualität günstig erhält(lange nicht so gut gegessen, wie dort),ist alles vorhanden.Die Zimmer sind super und der "Aufenthaltsraum" im Dachgeschoss mit Tischtennis lud zu einigen Turnieren und Rundläufen ein.Die zwei Bäder sorgen auch bei Besetzung mit mehreren Personen(10 gemütliche Schlafplätze in 4 Zimmern) für ausreichend Platz.Der Blick von der Terasse oder aus einem der Fenster hinunter oder hinaus ins Tal mit seinem wunderbaren Baumbestand aus Steineichen,Maronibaumen, Haselnüssbaumen und jeglicher Form des Mischwaldes bis hoch zu den höheren Bergzügen der Cevennen ist traumhaft.An Tieren gibt es auch allerlei zu entdecken:von den "hauseigenen" Fledermäusen" bis zur nächtlichen Grossversammlung der Wildschweine und Dachse, die sich bestens von der Terasse aus mit Taschenlampe verfolgen lässt,sind eine Vielzahl verschiedenster Tiere zu beobachten.Unser 3 jähriger Sohn ist zum absoluten Tier- und Flussforscher mutiert.Rundum können wir nur sagen, dass wir uns sauwohl gefühlt haben und bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal dagewesen sind.

Ruhe und Erholung

Nach dem ersten Schreck-Fahrt über den Schotterweg - Hilfe, wir sind am Ende der Welt -,sah die Welt am nächsten Tag schon wieder ganz anders aus.Bei herrlichem Sonnenschein und fantastischem Blick (wirklich aus jedem Fenster) erkundeten wir unser Domizil und waren zunehmend begeistert .Eine tolle alte Wohnküche mit ihrem wunderschönen Steinboden,dem alten Kamin und dem großen Esstisch.Sehr gut haben uns auch die Bauernmalereien an den Schränken,Türen und an der Wand gefallen.Richtig Klasse fand ich persönlich auch den Speicher (am Anfang hatte ich zwar Angst,dass mir unten die Decke auf den Kopf fällt ,wenn die Kinder Tischtennis gespielt haben, aber das Haus hat schon sooo lange gehalten...und siehe da,nichts passiert) mit seinen Bruchsteinwänden und dem offenen Dachgeschoss mit den alten Balken. Kurz gesagt, wir fühlten uns in eine andere Zeit zurück versetzt. Trotzdem hat es uns an nichts gefehlt. Die Küche ist gut bestückt, die Betten bequem(nur die beiden oberen Matratzen in den Stockbetten könnten mal ausgetauscht werden) und die Austattung in Ordnung. Den Fernseher hat keiner vermisst und das gemeinsame Spülen und Abtrocknen hat den Familiensinn gefördert. Toll war,dass der Vermieter noch eine neue Waschmaschine angeschafft hat ! Auf der sonnigen Terrasse konnte man herrlich entspannen und stundenlang lesen.Nervig waren nur die Mücken,die nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit über uns hergefallen sind - blöde Viecher! Wir haben tolle Badestellen entdeckt(zu einigen kann man laufen, zu den richtig Schönen sind wir gefahren), wir haben gelernt die Fahrten in Stunden und nicht mehr nach Kilometern zu rechnen - ahhhh, was für Straßen - und wie tief geht es da runter ! ! Ein tolles Erlebnis war eine Kanutour durch den Tarn und ein Besuch in einer der zahlreichen Grotten. Beeindruckend war der Besuch im Musée du Desert, der Geschichte wieder lebendig gemacht hat.In Montpellier, Nimes und vielen anderen schönen Städtchen und Dörfern waren wir auch und haben sogar noch zwei Abstecher ans Meer gemacht.Es war ein rundum gelungener,abenteuerlicher Urlaub, der alles andere als langweilig war.Der Vermieter war sehr nett,telefonisch erreichbar und hat kleinere Probleme schnell behoben, Danke nochmal! Fazit,wer bereit ist sich auf ein altes Gemäuer mit Charme(inklusive die ein oder andere Spinne oder Eidechse),Einsamkeit und Fahrten über unwegsames Gelände und abenteuerliche Straßen einzulassen wird einen tollen Urlaub in einer traumhaft schönen Landschaft erleben!

Es freut uns, dass es unseren Gästen so gut in unserem Ferienhaus gefallen hat und bedanken uns für die treffende Beschreibung unseres Anwesens. Wir sind bemüht mit Hilfe der Gemeinde den Zufahrtsweg nach und nach zu verbessern. Da der Weg aber auch von anderen Anwohnern benutzt wird ist er ganzjährig befahrbar. Die beschriebene Stechmückenplage ist eigentlich nicht typisch für die Jahreszeit und wohl auf den überdurchschnittlich feuchten Juli zurückzuführen.
