Summary:

This is a gorgeous, luxury 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom 2nd story apartment (top floor of a duplex) w/high end bathrooms and kitchen. Brand new stainless steel appliances, private 2nd floor patio, and shared backyard with gardens/pavers.

Ask about renting out both apts (3200 sq ft - 8 BR/4 BA / 11 beds) for larger parties.

In the middle of up and coming historic Springfield (best neighborhood in Jax!) steps from Main & 6th, Hyperion, & String Sports Brewery.

The Space:

An open layout, historic charmer with TVs in both the living room and master bedroom. Modern kitchen with everything you need for cooking meals together. Various types of bed layouts for families and friends traveling together.

Guest Access:

Guests have access to the entire upstairs apartment, shared front porch and shared backyard (fenced in).

The Neighborhood:

Springfield is amazing! It is a diverse, vibrant, up and coming neighborhood located just north of Jacksonville's downtown. You'll initially fall in love with the gorgeous late 19th/early 20th century houses but you'll want to stay for the amazing people. Join a First Friday party, check out the weekly Main Street cruise, downtown's Art Walk, Porchfest if you're in town in the fall, or one of the yearly home tours.

A few recommendations:

Restaurants

The brand new (as of June 2019) String Sports Brewery is directly across the street from you. Their food is AMAZING and they brew their own beer on site. This is a gem/pride of the neighborhood and I'm sure you will love its mouth-watering dishes just as much as we do!!!

Crispy’s is a half block away and famous for delicious pizza and great pub food in general

Wafaa and Mike’s Cafe is 2-3 blocks to the south and known for delicious Mediterranean food

Uptown Kitchen and Bar is ~5 blocks to the south and perfect for delicious breakfast lunch and dinner - one of the most popular traditional

Tommy’s is approximately a half mile to the southeast and is known for Springfield’s famous $3 breakfast in a cup

Sweet Pete’s (as featured on MSNBC's "The Profit") is about 3/4 mile to the southwest for delectable brunch and sinfully delicious sweets; Pete also happens to be a historic Springfield resident so you may very well see him and his family walking their dog around the neighborhood

Coffee

Social Grounds coffee shop for the best (not joking - seriously amazing) locally roasted coffee in Jax

Drinks

String Sports Brewery - craft brewery directly across the street from you

Hyperion - craft brewery that is 1/2 block away

6th and Main - craft brewery that is 2 blocks away

Crispy's - fully stocked bar with lots of TVs for sports events, dart boards, and an upstairs area great for larger groups that is half a block away

Uptown Kitchen and Bar - fully stocked bar with TVs that are usually playing sports games that is a few blocks away on Main St

Getting Around:

Springfield is a great neighborhood for walking and biking!

Jacksonville's Skyway, with limited service around the Urban Core area is a half mile to the south and is co-located with Jacksonville's central bus station.

Ride sharing services are also great options as well and driving is preferable for areas well outside of central Jax (St Augustine, Brunswick, Gainesville, etc.)

Wonderful

This place has been the best we have stayed at. The wonderful remodel of this home was done so well. There where so many added details that really added to the architecture of the home.

Would stay again!

We stay here for 5 night. House was a bit old but the location was great. For us it worked very well. House was clean. Plenty of room for sleep. Parking was on the street which wasn't an issue for us. Neighborhood quiet we were able to get our sleep. Communication was awesome literally took a minute for a response for any questions I had.

Pictures are more appealing

Photos are definitely filtered, property is very old (expected with historic land) however in one of the rooms on the back of the property the floor is very weak from roof leaking and is covered with a rug. Towels were provided( had to reuse them ) there was no washer and dryer ( additional fee to access per day) which is a bit ridiculous being that we stayed for 4 days with dirty towels. The bathrooms were newly remodeled and gorgeous with not one roll of tissue ( coming off the road several of us had to use the restroom ) . Kitchen was also newly remodeled and operable ( kitchen utensils were provided and clean) however we encountered a few large water bugs. No comfortable sitting areas at all. Overall I would not return to this property because only the basis are covered and definitely not a vacation relaxation spot.

Unsanitary Living Conditions

We booked this house for an extended stay- 5 weeks. The pictures looked alright and notice there are no pictures of the exterior- there is a reason for it. The house had rat poop all over, had rotting, musty smell throughout, including the bed sheets. They had rats living under the floor boards in the kitchen- the rats would run around the house all night long and ate through our garbage the first night (the only night we stayed there). The pictures online are very photoshopped- the house is in a really bad condition. The floors have holes in them because they are rotting. One of the windows in the master had a broken window. The rug in the bathroom looked like it was never washed. The carpets had lots of stains everywhere. The smell was horrendous. We tried to communicate with the property management company, but they only had an email, and the phone number they provided- no one would answer. At first they tried to deny any of those things until we sent them pictures. Then they offered us another house, but they would not allow us to view it before moving over. Needless to say, we declined their offer and made a claim with VRBO. Thankfully VRBO sided with us after viewing the pictures and videos and refunded us. This was the worst experience ever.
