About this property

Gilmore House

We are located off of historic Gilmore Trail appx. 10 miles north of Fairbanks. Our cute 3b.r.- 1 bath home can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is perfect for anyone who is interested in exploring the Last Frontier at your own pace. We have a large deck located on the 2nd floor and a large front porch, both overlooking the historic Gold filled hills north of town. Great for watching the Northern Lights or enjoying the Midnight Sun! The kitchen has pots & pans, dishes, silverware, baking pans, cake pans etc. and we always provide, with our compliments, a food *'Starter Kit' with things like Bacon & Eggs & OJ plus a variety of condiments, salad dressings, spices, and more, plus some snacks & bottled water. In the freezer there are always a couple of pizzas! *(Gluten /Dairy free options available upon request with advanced notice). So much easier than trying to find a Grocery store before you've even had a chance to get settled in! With a little notice, we can pick you up or drop you off at the Airport or Train Depot. We are Pet friendly & have water & food bowls & a blanket for your fur babies. We live next door, so no matter what time of year you come to Alaska, we are always available should you need anything & we will do our absolute best to make sure you and your family & friends have a great visit! No matter where you choose to stay, whether with us or elsewhere, we hope you have a wonderful time in Alaska!

Laura and Martin have a wonderful get-away. Breakfast, coffee, water and snacks await you upon arrival. The house is clean and the decor provides real Alaskan vibe. I stayed mid-July and the deck and flowers were peaceful and inviting. As hosts,, they are friendly and attentive. I would recommend anyone to their lovely Gilmore house.

Laura went out of her way to make our stay superb. My sisters and I spent 5 days and loved every minute of it. Laura provided lots of information about the area to help make our stay the best it could be. I would recommend you stay here.

Laura and Martin have an amazing place to watch the Aurora's from and hang out just outside of Fairbanks. She shared lots of recommendations, the stash of food to begin was a lifesaver. Just a wonderful vacation spot!!!

Quaint & peaceful

This is a great location for anyone wanting peace & quiet & great view. It is a very cute cabin & the hosts go above & beyond! They had it stocked with breakfast makings, snacks, drinks, etc. I would stay here over & over!

Merritt extended family

A group of my family from the midwest (IL, KY and TN) traveled to Fairbanks for a vacation. We chose Sept to try to see the Northern Lights while there. Our host was extremely helpful both in planning the trip while we were there. Laura is amazing and we loved the beautiful and well decorated house where we could see the Aurora from our lodging. Strongly recommend it.

Laura was extremely helpful with local knowledge and was very responsive to questions, as well as pro-active with relaying useful information about our booking. The house was very clean, and well prepared for guests. The beds were comfortable, and all of the services working properly. I would be very happy to stay at Gilmore house again when I visit Faribanks.

Perfect!

We have stayed at many VRBO properties, and these hosts are the best hands down. The starter food and all the little touches show how much the owners care. Best place to stay in Alaska

We rented several VRBOs while visiting Alaska and this one was our favorite...by far. Super clean; great location with great view; and cozy comfortable. It is like staying in a wonderful, interesting museum full of natural and regional artifacts The Hosts go OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. I've have been staying at VRBOs for more than a decade and I have to say this one goes to the top of the list.

A great place with fantastic hosts!

The house is fantastic decorated with one of a kind items from Alaska. Laura and Martin are the most amazing hosts ever and were always available for questions. They had groceries for us at our arrival. We saw the northern lights right from the house! The house was always warm and cozy, even when it was beyond freezing outside. For potential future guests - the stairs inside are kind of steep and narrow. They didn’t bother us at all, but if you have mobility concerns, they might be a challenge. We can’t wait to return to this property and reunite with our fantastic hosts!!Thank you Laura and Martin!
