In Marielyst, outdoor life unfolds throughout the summer. The white sandy beach is one of the very best in the country, inviting relaxation as much as activity. After a short course you may be able to dive down to old shipwrecks on the seabed. Balm for the soul is a walk on balmy summer evenings on the flower-strewn dikes with a romantic view of the Baltic Sea. Not far from the city center there are a variety of museums, galleries, glassblowing and ceramics workshops with many opportunities to buy art or handicrafts cheaply.
