The Mountaineer

Renovated in 2021, this classic chalet style home is in the high peaks region and has direct mountain views right outside the door. The home sits on a quiet street with easy access to all the area's attractions.
This chalet has an abundance of windows and natural light. The kitchen is completely new with granite counter tops, custom finishes and high-end appliances. The hardwood floors have all been refinished. The Great Room features a large stone fireplace cathedral ceilings and all new wood finishes. The oversized master suite sits on its own level with private bath that is all new and features a luxurious walk-in shower. There are 2 more large bedrooms below for a total of 3, and the home can easily
accommodate 6-8 people.
The Mountaineer Chalet sits on over an acre of property with a huge deck that is accessed easily from the Great Room. The deck has a direct view of Haystack Mountain. The heating system in the home is also new and was put in for the sheer purpose of noise reduction to assure quiet sound throughout the home. There is Wi-Fi and Satellite TV in the home as well.
Year round area attractions include hiking, the village of Lake Placid, alpine skiing and mountain
biking at Whiteface Mountain, snowshoeing, Fly fishing on the Ausable River, swimming holes, farmers markets, nearby lakes, and more.

The house had everything we needed. It was very clean and nicely decorated. It had a very spacious living room with a large dining table. Other features was a front deck facing the forest across the street and an outdoor area with chairs and a fire pit. Very quiet and private location.

Wonderful rental!

Just came back from a great trip to the Adirondacks. The Mountaineer was a perfect choice for me, the home was clean, all newer appliances, etc and came nicely stocked.The host was very responsive and all in all, it was a great trip!

Annual family vacation

This is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Adirondacks for hiking, boating, site seeing, or just a get away to relax. We had a great week of family time, check in was very easy, and the host and care taker were very responsive to questions about the place. The place was peaceful and private and loved all the decor! I recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the Adirondacks.

Family event

We enjoyed our stay at the Mountaineer. Peter was very accommodating and was great to work with. The house was clean and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. The full sized mattress in the bunk room was not so comfortable for adults, but would have been fine for kids. Our adult kids opted to sleep on the recliners in the living room, and that worked out just as well! The location was perfect for accessing family events in Keeseville and Ausable Forks. Highly recommend!

Weekend Get Away

What a beautiful Cabin, located in the mountain with amazing views. Our family enjoyed hiking behind the house up the mountain, playing in the snow and just relaxing by the nice warm fire place playing board games and cards. Would highly recommend this property.

Just what we needed

Perfect spot for our family to spend some time skiing at Whiteface and sightseeing in Lake Placid. My wife and I, two adult sons(one with a gfriend), and our 6 year old granddaughter all enjoyed our stay in this comfortable Adirondack cabin. Well equipped, all we needed to bring was ourselves and our food. Our granddaughter was delighted when she saw the footstool bear in the living room.

Lovely

Was perfect for a relaxing stay in the ADK. Ideal for people that appreciate nature and enjoy quiet days. We'd like to advice though that the oweners invest in a new bbq to make the stay a bit more comfortable. The equipment is old and rusty. Other than that, the chalet offers comfortable accommodations and nice kitchen. Our favorite place to spend time as a family was the living room. We already want to be back!

Disappointed

The house was very nice, however the cleaning in at least one of the bedrooms was not thorough. On the 2nd (last) night of our stay, I was awakened by 2 mice in the room in the middle of the night. I immediately messaged the property manager and sent him several pictures. From what I saw, it was obvious that the mice had been active in the room previously. The property manager indicated that he would notify the owner. I have received no followup from either.

The house was incredible! It was spacious, clean, and decorative. My family had a wonderful time here! The hosts and managers were so responsive, helpful and kind. The house was located in such a peaceful area close to many attractions and areas. It felt so comfortable and cozy. All appliances and everything worked great. Wonderful vacation home!

My family and I chose the Mountainer as our vacation rental because of its location. We were so happy we did. It was so comfortable. I especially loved how clean and comfortable it was. Ive been to some rentals where the dishes are not really clean and all of the kitchen items were in perfect condition. I really appreciated that! This home had everything we needed. We were centrally located that we could enjoy some of the attractions such as the Ausable Chasm, Shelburne Museum in Vermont (Such fun taking the ferry boat out of Essex over Lake Champlain) and then Lake Placid where we took the gondola ride up Whiteface Mountian to see the spectacular views. Definitely one of our top 5 homes we have rented over the years. You won't be disappointed!

Family Get Away

Great house with a good amount of space. Master bath was super nice. Everything was clean. Rooms were spacious. Great location to get to Lake Placid, Keene, and many of the High Peaks. Air Con worked great and extra fans were awesome as temps were super warm during our stay. Property manager was transparent, easy to reach, and easy to speak with. Overall, a wonderful stay.

Beautiful cozy cabin!

We had a wonderful stay here to go snowboarding at Whiteface and tour around the Lake Placid area. Secluded and private on a quiet road with a nice view of Haystack Mountain. Very comfortable for 7-8 people, although the listing shows a 4th bedroom with a futon but really the futon is in the living room. Worked out fine. House was clean, cozy, nicely remodeled in recent years. We enjoyed the fireplace and woodsy decor. Host was very responsive and accommodating, and no unusual chores for check out. A wonderful stay!
