## Emplacement
By the discovery of some remains, we know that Monteux already existed in Roman times, but it is from the eleventh century, date of the construction of its castle, that Monteux appears in history. The latter, composed of six towers of fourteen meters high each, became, in 1274, the property of the Pope.
