YES it is easy to do day trips from the Escape Away Belize Harmony Beach House to the Mayan Ruins and the Cave Tubing.

Our tour guide picks you up from our private dock in the morning, takes you to the Mayan Ruins and Cave Tubing for the day and then brings you safely back to our private dock for dinner.

#2 - six seat Golf Cart is available starting at $69 per day only for our Escape Away Beach House guests - best rate guaranteed! The $69 rate is effective if it is rented for every day of your stay. Daily rental is $109 per day otherwise.

By golf cart, at 20 miles per hour, it takes 10-15 minutes to San Pedro town center. There are fun stores, cafes, resorts and restaurants to see or visit all along the way.

This was a fantastic property, amazing location and views. Art and Yoli took great care of us and prepared authentic delicious Belizean food. The golf cart on site was convenient and it was so fun to explore the island. We are already planning our next visit!

Owner is very rude. Eventhough the place sleeps 9, he charged us extra for 8th and 9th since initial reservation was for 7. He even threated police on us for no reason. He has no manners. Helper Luis was great though. Food is nothing special. One random dish cooked and left on the table. Overall, you probably can do better.

Beautiful Belize Getaway

The house totally fit our needs, week 1 was only family and week 2 were friends. Betty and Pablo took such good care of us and made the stay easy and wonderful! The dive shop on property Scuba Daze Belize is awesome as well. Also, like the bar next door SunDiver Bar for something different. Had a great two weeks there.

we had an amazing time at this property. Pablo is the caretaker of this property and made sure everything was perfect and we were always being taken care of above and beyond. Betty is the chef and she is an amazing person and cooks amazing food and never lets you go hungry. we definitely felt spoiled the entire time we stayed there.

Relaxing and enjoyable

This is the second property of Jerry’s that we’ve stayed, and we’re very happy again. It was just three adults, so we only needed the main floor of the home. It was spacious, bright, very clean and relaxing! We enjoyed having Betty provide a few meals for us, although we also enjoy going into town and visiting with friends. Pablo and Betty were both wonderful during our stay and made everything easier and more enjoyable. We can’t wait to be back in April!!

So peaceful and relaxed. The ever changing views of the ocean. Delicious meals prepared by the wonderful chef Betty. The care of the shoreline and grounds as well as finding of delicious fresh coconuts Pablo did an fabulous job. An on-site dive shop and a boat ride away from stunning diving. Amazing!!

I cant even to begin to tell you how great everything was. Carlos and his staff were so good to us and easy to work with, along with all the information they gave us. The house is a perfect distance from downtown and the road was worked on while we were there (March 1st-5th) to make it an easier drive (someone had mention the road was horrible but in my opinion it wasn't that bad to begin with). Jerry was very quick to return emails and had great communication throughout the entire process. I would recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you to everyone who made our stay amazing, we will be back!

Our Escape to Belize

We ended up staying at a different property owned by Jerry as there was some construction at this one so can't comment specifically on this one, but the one we stayed had the same type of amenities and was on the south side vs. the north. The experience with Jerry and the whole staff and crew was wonderful. Having Angie and her family cook meals was the best. She was so flexible and personable. Raf and Ceasar took great care of the property and Raf went above and beyond several times to make our stay even more enjoyable. The gazebo at the end of the dock was awesome and being able to take the kayaks out right from there even better. From Carlos picking us up at the airport to Hill coming to the house to tell about various activity options to the nurse coming to take our COVID test, everything was meant to make our trip enjoyable and hassle free. I hope to make this an annual January trip as it was "UnBelizeable"

10 Stars for Alan and Dorita!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Escape Away Belize! We did not have any problems at all. The location is about 3-4 miles north of the city of San Pedro. We did not mind the distance because the property hosts, Alan and Dorita, made our stay so wonderful. Dorita is an amazing cook and all the meals she prepared for us were absolutely delicious! Alan is awesome! He helped out with a lot of our questions and requests. We did not have any tours lined up prior to our trip and Alan helped coordinate some tours to snorkel and go to the mainland, and the entire process was so easy. The house was very clean and comfortable. There were two adult couples and so we had ample room. The beach where the house sits on is beautiful- it feels like a private beach. The location is a short 10 min drive to Secret Beach and about a 20 min drive into San Pedro. We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Escape Away with Alan and Dorita - they certainly made our vacation even more enjoyable than expected! We hope to return again soon!

FRAUD

Jerry didn’t own the house he ended up putting us in. He didn’t even own the house we rented to begin with. So if you’re looking at this property keep in mind, it’s not available for Jerry to allow you in it. He has no authority to do so. Once we arrive at San Pedro, we was greeted by Carlos who was wonderful. But once we got to the house we was greeted by Angie who had told us she DOES NOT make any and everything you could want. Only certain foods. Then we was greeted by Janice, the actual house manager! She threatened to kick us out unless we pay $550 extra with the $2500 we already paid Jerry. Jerry told us not to pay her that he would, Well the owners of the actual home did not want Jerry to pay them. I asked Jerry to refund me my $550 so I can pay them and he said he would handle this. We was told we had to give credit card information or else we would be kicked out of the home. Obviously, being far from home and in another country we had no other choice because we had no where to go! Janice the actual house manager harassed us the entire time we was there even after the house owner told us to not pay her, then turned around and stated to pay her. They may all be in the scam together for all we know. Jerry will write under this stating he took care of everything but until I have my money back in my hand, assure you he has not! Not to mention, the owners have turned him into the city of San Pedro to get him removed. Good Luck, Jerry! You’re going to need it!

Relaxation in Paradise

Now this is what we call a vacation! The owner, Jerry, Chef Betty and groundskeeper Pablo did everything they could to ensure that we had a great vacation. From the time that we were picked up at the San Pedro Airport on our arrival by Pablo to the time he dropped us off at the airport for our departure, we knew we were in good hands. Once we arrived at the beach house, Betty made sure that we were well fed with excellent food that she prepared for us fresh for each meal. She also did all of the shopping for groceries, which were included just as mentioned on the listing. The red snapper, which she cooked on the grill in banana leaves was everyone’s favorite, as well as the ceviche she prepared for us as a snack for our arrival. Every meal was excellent! She also keeps the entire house in tip top shape and extremely clean. Pablo takes care of the outside and is just as detail oriented as Betty. The grounds are kept pristine and you’ll see Pablo out everyday sweeping the sand and beach and making sure the landscape is fresh and clean. Seaweed is a challenge for most of the beaches in Belize and the rest of the Caribbean, and like with everything else in Mother Nature, it is somewhat unpredictable. Sometimes the seaweed is scarce and sometimes it’s abundant. Pablo does his absolute best to try to keep the beach clear of the debris on a daily basis, but if you want to get into the water, you’ll probably enjoy it more on the mainland side of the island. The house is perfectly located for travelers who prefer to be away from all of the hustle and bustle of the touristy area of the town of San Pedro, but it’s still easily accessible with a golf cart. The stunning Secret Beach on the mainland side of the island is also a relatively short golf cart ride away. The water there is absolute perfection, crystal clear, a perfect shade of azure and at a perfect temperature. Don’t wait until the last day to go there, as you’re surely to want to go out there more than once. In spite of the limitations for getting into the water at the beach house, the Staff compensated for it with the excellent service and care, which more than justified the 5 star rating! Thanks again for the hospitality Jerry, Betty and Pablo!

Casa Conch

We had the opportunity to stay with Escape Away Belize for a full week and had an amazing time. If you’re looking to come to Belize and have the option to explore (golf cart), relax and be undisturbed, try some excursions and some amazing local cooking, then this is the place for you. The staff are all amazing. Carlos picked us up from the airport and took us to a different house (Casa Conch) since there is ongoing construction on this listing. The owner (Jerry) had informed me of this change prior to the termination of the 100% refund deadline and provided a link to the property so that we could approve prior to agreeing to stay at a different location. He was quick to respond and even helped us move dates around to accommodate us. Casa Conch is located on South Island and we enjoyed this location much more than the previous on north island. The house was far enough from town to feel remote and undisturbed, yet close enough that the drive was not an inconvenience. We still made the trip to Secret Beach and it wasn’t too bad of a drive. We used the golf cart almost every day and even took it up to tranquility bay (over 18 miles from the house) to wade around and do some fly fishing. As long as you keep an eye on how much gas it has then you should have no issues with the cart provided. When we arrived on the property Angie had a warm home cooked meal waiting for us. We coordinated when we would and wouldn’t need meals throughout the week and the cooking was never a disappointment. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal and the portions were great. The house consisted of two stories and the upstairs was only accessible by stairs from the outside. This worked out great as we had two couples staying and each basically had their own house. We caught all sorts of fish off the dock. Everything from snapper and bonefish to an eel and barracuda. We even had a huge school of permit swim by. Carlos had people come by the house to tell us about specific excursions and book them right there at the house. We highly recommend taking a day to snorkel Hol Chan and shark-ray alley and visit Caye Caulker. There are also several bars within 5-10 minutes drive if you want to go have a drink without traveling too far at night. We had an amazing time and made some amazing memories. Our most sincere gratitude is extended to Angie, Carlos, and the rest of the staff. We will be back and fully plan on staying here again.

Almost but

The Good: Pablo and cook Betty were wonderful and took great care of us. As advertised, the groceries for meals were included. The house is very nice and comfortable. Beautiful piece of property, great view. Shower pressure is good. Secret Beach is close. The Bad: I’m a big believer in setting proper expectations. The grocery store Mata Grande mentioned in the description had been closed for months and was for sale – building was empty. Betty is a cook, not a chef. Big difference. We loved her and the food but it's still false advertising. This is not a 4 bedroom home as advertised – not in practical terms anyway. Sure, there is an extra room but here’s the issue - - - all 3 restrooms are in bedrooms. There is no half bath anywhere. The Ugly: Sargassum. Some say it’s seasonal, some say it’s all year. The one thing I do know is it smells awful and was abundant at this property during our visit. We could not spend much time outside without going to the end of the pier where the smell disappeared. Our plans were to stay on property all day for a few days but that quickly changed. We never had lunch there – had to leave every single day the smell was so bad. Do your research on sargassum, do NOT underestimate this situation! If you don’t care to stay on property during the day it’s a non-issue, the house is great and inside you can’t smell the sargassum. Jerry sent a guy over from some business to tell us about his services like fishing trips, etc. We were interested in fishing and snorkeling and he quoted us $600. There is a business pretty much on the property (small building no signs) and they do the same thing for $450. Not a good way to treat guests that wanted to trust in you taking good care of them. Overall: This is a great house in a good location. Pablo and Betty are wonderful people and do their jobs well. If you can get past the sargassum issue, you will enjoy it. If you hate sargassum, it would be best to try and go when it’s less likely to be around. Someone recommended January but I can’t vouch for that. If you need a true 4 bedroom this is not your place. Find your activities on your own and save money.

Misstated Property: Outstanding on-site team, property management poorly executed

First below stellar review as either host or guest. As short-term rental hosts, we communicated at the onset. The cook, Betty, and grounds man, Pablo, are ABSOLUTELY exceptional in every way. They made what would have been a less-comfortable trip far better. Simply put, those two individuals are amazing. Our trip consisted of parents and adult children (8 adults- 4 rooms) for the Thanksgiving holiday. The property is nice, located beautifully on the beach but key elements of description and pictures are not accurate. All listed items below were acknowledged by management. A prior review showed initial deflection that wasn't connected to the problem, i.e. pool construction and room description. It is too bad as the property, the staff, and the amenities are nice. Should it be appropriately represented it would be good. Simply put, over-reaching the space and amenities isn't needed. Comments from management we'll "consider updating the listing". Here's the list outlining our experience: 1) Misrepresenting the bedrooms & bathroom configurations. This is a two-bedroom home on 2nd level separated completely from a separate bonus room with en suite bathroom on the 1st level. The main house is only accessed from the bonus room by going up a set of stairs from outside. We arrived with only 3 "bedrooms". One “bedroom” is the office shown in the photos without beds; it had a king and a twin tightly fitted in. There is no space for use as an office. Simply put, the home isn't a 4-bedroom home. The configuration meant guests in the office had to go through a bedroom to get to a bathroom. The “office bedroom” is adjoined to the master & affords no privacy to the guests sleeping in either place. Guests in the office must walk through the master bedroom to access the nearest bathroom. The master bathroom has no door affording no privacy for anyone bathroom nor bedroom. 2) Told 1-day advance notice of “pool construction" when no change is possible.View to beach and beach access is impacted. It wasn't a big issue for us, but others may disagree. 3) Management offers rental carts. We rented 2, both had mechanical failures at different times leaving us stranded twice during our trip. One replacement operated well the 2nd (4th car) did not. In both cases it impacted our holiday. Prior trips here, showed the club cars offered were not in good shape 4) VRBO review space limits us listing the multi other items in listing that are innacurate, e.g. wifi quality

Owner does not communicate.

So. The owner is terrible at communicating when things go wrong. We have stayed at his other property last year and this year, and booked this house for 2022. Left us in a bind at the last minute because he did not respond to our email on the 22nd or the 25th after he had to cancel our booking at the property because of the extensive pool construction. It is unacceptable that he did not respond. Had he responded on the 22nd to our request we would have had more time to find a place to stay that was more inline with our budget. Long story short, we had this trip booked for 6 months. We were staying at his other property from Dec 18-26, and the day before we leave, on Dec 17, we receive a message stating that because of the construction they have “upgraded” us to a condo (not a house) that had fewer bedrooms, fewer bathrooms, was smaller, lacked a privacy beach and dock… and with no compensation. Also in the pictures the 2nd brm had 2beds, not ideal for a couple who likes each other. I promptly email him back that the new property wasn’t going to work because of the beds. I hear nothing for THREE days and have to email him on Dec 21 to confirm we are then saying at the other property. He responds back on Dec 21 that the 2nd bedroom is a king size and they looked on the island but everything is booked (untrue). He also says that he will give a tiny refund or we can get a full refund. It wasn’t acceptable for going from a house with privacy, more space, more bedrooms, and a private beach to a condo. Not acceptable. On Dec 22 I emailed him that it isn’t acceptable and we would like more compensation and explain in details why. HE NEVER RESPONDED BACK. On Dec 25 we again email our disappointment “"Hi Jerry, We are extremely disappointed in your lack of a timely response to our message that would allow us to map out our options to stay or find another location. We will take you up on your offer for a full refund. This is disappointing as a past, current, and future client. Your lack of communication puts your clients in a predicament if they do not the funds to book other locations. I would have hoped that we would be able to stay but with the lack of communication that would not be in our best interest. Have a merry Christmas." He never contacted us back. It was expensive as hell to find a place to stay the next day and completely unacceptable for an owner to do to a client because the house has ongoing construction. He has got to be better

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS MAN

1. The description of the property is inaccurate. There are not 3 bathrooms 2. He will not answer your questions truthfully. He is very vague and will ignore your direct questions. 3. He waited until past the date for a full refund to notify us that the property was being repaired and we would be moved. 4. He refused to provide adequate photos of the property that we would be moved to. Also refused to give the address or property number. 5. The alternative property was also not adequate for our group. 6. He refused to provide a property that would accommodate 3 adult couples. We did not see either of the properties but because of his sketchy behavior I would not trust that any of the descriptions of the property are truthful or accurate. We had to book and purchase another property. VRBO will rebook you BUT you have to pay up front and wait for a refund!! I’m in it for over 11k right now. Good luck!

Fantastic vacation

We (My husband, brother and sister-in-law, and myself) had a fabulous time at 'our' house. Betty was a joy to have around and cooked us whatever we asked for and whenever we wanted it. Her breakfasts were amazing! Pablo kept the yard immaculate and we had some great conversations with him. With just 2 couples, the rooms were great but if there had been another couple or 2 along as we originally intended, the space would have been awkward with the sharing of an ensuite without a door. As it was, it suited our needs perfectly. We rented a golf cart with the house which we used every day to explore up and down the island. The location of the house, near the Secret Beach turn off was great. It was quiet and private but close enough to venture into town regularly. Unfotunately, the Dive Bar next door never opened during our 10 days. The dock at the house is used by Sam and his Scuba Daze Diving crew. We used them on our final day to go snorkelling and had a fabulous time. The owners are in the process of building a pool so there was a big hole in the yard but it did not affect us. It will be great when the pool is done as the ocean out front is pretty much unswimmable with the seagrass. We walked up and down the beach daily with the neighbour's dog, Rocky....who had a few sleepovers :) We definitely recommend this house.

Inaccurate description

Betty, the on sight cook and Pablo the grounds keeper were absolutely wonderful!! They made our experience a positive one, despite a long list of inaccurate information provided by the host in the description of the property. The listing said it was 4 beds and 3 baths. We were offered 3 beds and had to ask for use of the 3rd bath. The third bedroom actually did not have access to a bathroom without going through another bedroom, so I really don’t consider that a bedroom, more of a den with a bed. So it was really only 2 bedrooms. There were several other statements in the description that were not correct. In addition, the host did not tell us that construction was going on the property, until one day before we arrived. We had 6-8 men walking around the yard for several days.

Perfect Belize Get Away

Escape Away Belize is a beautiful home right on the water with a dock right in front. The home is beautiful with a nice porch upstairs just off the living room and plenty of room to lounge in the sun on the beach too. The grounds keeper Pablo is super helpful and friendly and dedicated to your enjoyment. The private chef, Betty, is willing to shop for the specific ingredients that will make your meals perfect and cook them to your requirements. She also has some wonderful dishes of her own - ask for the french fries! - cerviche, pico de gallo, and more. The location is just far enough out of town to be away from the hustle and bustle but, only a 10 minute golf cart ride to all the shops and restaurants, etc. For diving, snorkling , fishing - use ScubaDaze, located right on the property. Sam is great! Make sure to ask about the lobster hunting! We're still talking about the wonderful lobster Sam's team helped us catch!
