Welcome to 'A Wise Getaway' Guesthouse

A peaceful retreat for couples, small families, and your four-legged friends.

This 800 sq ft Amish-built cottage is all about simple country living. Located just 2 miles from Keuka Lake & nestled on the edge of our peaceful 50-acre farm in Hammondsport, NY. It’s the perfect spot to unplug, unwind & slow things down.

We believe comfort doesn’t have to be complicated & pricing shouldn’t be either. There are NO CLEANING FEES or surprise charges here! The price you see is the price you pay (plus applicable taxes), which allows guests to book with confidence & focus on enjoying their stay.

***For guests bringing a pet, there is a ONE-TIME $50 pet fee***

Please Read Before Booking:

This is Simple Country Living on the edge of our 50-acre farm. Our home is nearby & I work from home, so I’m available if needed. We offer a private, whole-house stay at a value well below typical hotel pricing.

The property uses private WELL WATER, which is common throughout the area (Including my own house) The water is clean, tested & safe for bathing and cooking.

* Guests may occasionally notice a natural mineral or sulfur scent, especially with hot water. While filtration systems are in place & improvements have been made, it is not always possible to eliminate this entirely & this is normal for the region.

** Guests who are sensitive to mineral or well-water characteristics, or who prefer hotel-style municipal water, may wish to consider a different accommodation. The vast majority of our guests have no issues with the water, which is reflected in our long history of positive reviews. We recommend that all guests bring their own bottled water for drinking.

*** If a guest chooses to cancel their stay upon arrival & requests a refund, any refund will be processed only after the property has been inspected & confirmed to be left in the same condition as at check-in, with all house rules followed. Inspections are conducted during reasonable hours and may take up to 12 hours to complete.

Please make sure the yard is picked up if you brought dogs
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Great location! Super quiet area. Super cute and clean. We loved our stay. Being able to use the grill and the fire pit was really nice. Close to town with a pretty winery within 3 miles. Lovely Cottage

The property is lovely. It is spotless, updated (with working TVs/WIFI), in a central location and TRULY handicapped accessible. My mom is getting on in years and has limited mobility. She was comfortable here, as was my 90lb shepherd. Joe is a great host, who is knowledgeable about the area and shared helpful information about local shops etc. We can't wait to come back.

Keuka lake Amish built Cottage

Cozy Cottage

This little cottage has everything one could need for an enjoyable stay in the Finger Lakes region. It is just minutes from Keuka Lake and from Hammondsport, a picturesque village on the lakeshore. Our host was kind enough to recommend a wonderful restaurant (Timberstone Grill).

Hi! My name is Joe, the guest house is on the edge of my 50 acre farm in the beautiful Finger lakes Region!

I am a Husband, Father, Musician / Songwriter and I am blessed to be able to work from home so I am available for any questions you may have during your stay.

I write music for TV & Film which is Production Music you hear on your favorite TV shows. Everything from Rock n Roll, to Heavy Metal & Country Music

We have a farm here, with horses, pigs & chickens and hopefully in due time, some cows will be on the property. Guests are welcome to schedule a visit to see the animals. During the warm months, we have Horses, Pigs & Chickens. Kids love to help feed the animals & grab eggs from our hens!

Our guest house has a firepit, we request that you do not bring firewood from another county out of respect for our woods but we do sell firewood and we also sell farm fresh eggs.

I hope you enjoy your stay at my guest house and I am just a phone call away if needed for directions, fun things to do in the area, like wine & craft beer trails, great fishing & hunting!

Why they chose this property

I discovered this area after my 1st trip to Hammondsport, NY with some friends for a perch fishing trip and I fell in love with the area.

The people are wonderful, the scenery is dreamlike and the fishing is incredible.

It has been a long time dream to own my own farm, raise my own livestock, horses and grow my own food. When I had an opportunity to purchase this 50 acre farm, I made the leap from Niagara Falls, NY to Hammondsport.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

After 5 years of booking short term rental, we are still learning every day and I enjoy meeting new people that stay at our guest house.

What makes this property unique

The home I live in, which is down the road from the guest house is in a quiet area with minimal neighbors.

The neighbors surrounding the farm have become like family to us. Although the farm and houses are in a fairly remote area, we are only minutes away from the Village of Hammondsport, Keuka Lake which has just about everything we need from restaurants, groceries, gas, liquor and the Award Winning Wineries and Breweries.

I intend to make this area my "Forever Home" and I hope to be able to share this experience with you during your stay!
