Perfect!
We wanted to visit the Chaco Cultural Center and were excited to find accommodations very near the entrance. The hogan was perfect! A great deal of effort was used to make everything clean, neat and very livable. Thanks to those responsible.

Hogan Stay
We were impressed with the Hogan, it’s furnishings, spaciousness and well equipped kitchen. We wished we could have stayed longer than our quick overnight. Our host was also helpful in finding us a good restaurant in nearby Cuba. Thank you!

Chaco Canyon Starry Nights
A friend and I spent 2 nights in a hogan in Counselor NM. We were there to tour Chaco Canyon, world heritage site. The dark skies were perfect for star gazing and the tour very interesting. Would recommend the trip 100%!

Amazing views!
We really enjoyed staying here for two nights on our trip to see Chaco Canyon. The Hogan was clean and comfortable and the hosts were wonderful. We worked through them to get the Navajo fry bread making session on-site and it was wonderful. But the best part was the amazing views, especially at sunrise and sunset. We will stay here again! Note you need to bring everything you'll need. There are no stores or restaurants close by.

perfect little Hogan
the hogan itself was wonderful, with one exception. THE LIGHTS OUTSIDE. We traveled a long distance to find accommodations that would allow us to see the night sky in a dark place. We found the place, but with a street light outside and spot lights shining in the windows from the adjoining buildings was a GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT. The artificial light really ruined the experience. Otherwise the accommodations were very nice. The idea of not giving the access information until you are already out of range of service is also annoying and caused anxiety. We did figure it out.

A Very Private Glamping Gem!
My wife and I were looking for a place to stay that was close to Chaco Canyon. This part of New Mexico is fairly remote, and services are few and far between. We were so lucky to have found this rental! The location is quiet, peaceful and picturesque. The hogan sits right next to a small mesa with interesting rock formations, which you are able to hike up and enjoy the view. The hogan has a kitchen and laundry facilities, and enough amenities to prepare meals. Definitely a must - the closest restaurants are over 30 miles away. Groceries are even further, so bring all the food you’re going to need. AC / Heating worked great. Bed was on the softer side but comfortable. Great wifi (Starlink). Highly recommend!

Perfect for us
We wanted to visit Chaco Canyon but had to be in Albuquerque. This location put us close enough to both to work well for us. The Hogan was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The bed was a king size bed and very comfortable, it didn't feel like I was sleeping away from home. Everything was very clean and seemed quite new. The area is very quiet and easy to access from 550.

The Hogan was so beautiful and peaceful. The grounds were unique and easy to walk through with spectacular views. The sunrises and sunsets just expanded the spaciousness of the area. I will cherish the time I had here. It was more than I could have dreamed…

Exquisite space!
We absolutely adored our time in the hogan! We were only there for an overnight, but it was an extremely memorable experience. The decor and comfort level was unmatched. Lovely grounds. My only regret was that I wasn’t able to climb up to the mesa because a lovely and much needed storm came through. It is a bit remote, so plan ahead for meals. But you will have all the tools you need in the very cute kitchenette! Cell reception and wifi were wonderful. I will never forget our stay - thank you so much!

Perfect for My Family
A perfect spot. My wife, son, and I could have spent the entirety of our four-day stay just walking on the mesa and playing around the grounds. The location of the Hogan lent itself to visiting Chaco Canyon where my wife, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, could not have otherwise traveled to. We tried to be respectful and aware that this is a place where many people live without water and electricity. The sunsets are shocking and the sky is everywhere.

My mother started this mission over thirty years ago to help the local Native American people. After my mom's retirement I took over as President of the mission. I love to travel to unique places and try different foods. I love sunsets, stargazing and hikes. My favorite time is spent with family.

Why they chose this property

This property is a replica of a traditional Navajo Native American home. It is modernized with all of todays needs. Once you step inside of our Hogan you can picture what it would be like to live in a traditional Hogan. A Hogan is a hexagon building with no indoor plumbing or electricity. It would have a wood burning stove in the center of the room used for cooking and heating. Lucky for yo,u we have indoor plumbing as well as heat and air and a kitchenette furnished with a range, small refrigerator and microwave. Our hogan also has a washer and dryer inside the unit.
If you like stars than this is the place for you! The stars at night come out large and bright and just last week we saw the milky way in full glow. At night you will hear the sounds of coyotes and more than likely you will see a jack rabbit hopping around. We have elk that roam our property as well. Bring your hiking shoes and take a hike up our prayer rock where you can see views for miles. You can also look at our Sand Stone formations. We are a quick 30 minute drive to Chaco Canyon National Park.
