A 20 minute walk or $2.50 taxi ride down a country lane to the famous pueblo of Vilcabamba . Spaciousness and privacy, warmth and coziness, large private patio, well-equipped kitchen, 2 desks for computer time, and a cozy queensized bed. There is an additional fully equipped shared outdoor kitchen as well with a pizza oven and grill.
The space
La Loma Cottage is an uncluttered and comfortably stylish two story house with a large private and gated patio surrounded by trees and flowers. The house sits beside a fully equipped shared outdoor kitchen and across the yard from the main house of the host, Diane, and her three rescue dogs. The property is convenient to the town of Vilcabamba but in a popular barrio known as San José.
Guest access
The cottage sits up a driveway from the country dirt road, providing distance from other houses and noises. Taxis know the house well and a trip either to or from town costs $2.50. The walk into town is downhill and takes about 20 minutes. Back up is a bit of an uphill grade. The barrio of San José is a simple local neighborhood of small houses and farms where bustling life goes on. It is also a popular neighborhood for expats.
Other things to note
La Loma Property has 3 unique houses, two are rentals. The cottage and main host house are on either side of the shared outdoor kitchen (both houses have their own private and well equipped kitchens--the shared kitchen is there for small gatherings and hanging out with others). The other rental house is a round "tree house" and is down the hill about 100 yards. All houses are designed for privacy and face in their own directions.
