Step back in time in this traditional island home loaded with character and 3 screened porches! Tucked back off Eastside Drive this private setting is a perfect spot to unwind. Have your morning coffee on the second level porch with distance lighthouse views or dinner and drinks on the large screen porch off the kitchen. This home rents by the week only.

Pet friendly home $75. per pet fee will be added to your reservation. THIS HOME DOES NOT PROVIDE LINENS OR TOWELS. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN OR CALL US TO RENT THEM.

Cancellations made 30 days prior to arrival will receive 100% of refund of all monies minus $ 39 Processing Fee and Any Credit Card Convenience Fees Paid.  If less, then 30 days: the advanced rent is only refundable subject to the following: The property is re-rented for the same period. Re-rental of less than a full week will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. The Agent will retain a $39.00 processing charge, and any convenience fees charged. *Deposits are not refunded for ANY reason (including bad weather).

Perfect Home for Us

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I loved this old home and the setting so much that I wish it was mine. We've been coming to the island for many years and stayed in lots of places. This is my favorite. The beautiful, secluded backyard is perfect for bird watching among the mature trees. The fenced-in yard and quiet neighborhood for walking was perfect for our dogs. We had a sweet little herd of deer visit everyday. The ONLY problem is that it really needs a deep cleaning.

Authentic Island Rental

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First thing, we are happy for an affordable pet friendly house to rent. The fenced backyard worked great. The location was nice with a limited view of the lighthouse. The friendly neighborhood deer paid us an evening visit daily. Very quiet area. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch. The house itself was old and needs some attention but we loved the antique original feel of of such a historical home. The odors that come along with the home were very strong and took a day or two to get used to. The furniture was ok. We were able to relax during the rainy times. The crooked floors and rustic flooring did take time to get used to and the doors swelled up terribly and would stick when it rained which made it hard to run from the mosquitos quickly. Overall with all of the old, non updated and simplicity of the house it served its purpose for our visit to the island. And the affordability made up for anything that was missing.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unfortunately house smelled very strongly of mold and mildew. AC barely worked in dining room and bedroom with twin beds. Coffee maker stopped working 2 nd day. Washing machine could only handle a tiny load or else it made horrible metal clunking sound. Upstairs shower leaked through wall into upstairs porch then dropped through ceiling of downstairs porch. Worry that the shower will eventually collapse. Porches very nice but so dirty. Our feet got black from walking on them and years of black crud on woodwork. A weekly cleaning would be easy fix. Don’t mind old farm house we live in one but this one should not be a rental!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The good: The house was spacious and had a moderately updated kitchen. The back screen porch with a table was very nice. The location was quiet with quick access to Chicken City and also down to The Pearl & the park. When the house's water was unfortunately shut off in the middle of the Week because the owner had missed a utility payment Harbour Rentals office was very helpful and quick to contact the city and resolve the issue for us. The office staff in general are always very kind and accommodating - we have rented from HR for years.The less good: Unfortunately we were unable to use the master bedroom/bath because of strong pet odors (cat).There were quite a lot of old spiderwebs, dead insects, and debris along all baseboards and under furniture. A lot of the wallpaper was peeling significantly leaving large areas uncovered. The house felt as though it had been left unoccupied for a couple months or longer. The living room couches did not match the photos or the blue wicker-style chairs - instead they were standard older sofas and had a very strong dog odor despite already having couch covers thrown over top when we got there. There were throw rugs everywhere and we vacuumed up about 4 full canisters worth of dog hair and debris that I know was not from us - we did not bring pets. The FYI: house is definitely old with little step-downs/ups, the wood flooring is curved, and the doorknobs etc. are old. This isn't a bad thing - we thought it added a little charm. But if you're looking for a modern or fully updated house this won't be it.We spoke with HR and they planned to communicate the need for a good deep clean. If it was clean, without odors, and all rooms able to be used we would have given it full marks. Unfortunately it was only a 2/5 for us.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Some houses could be old and awesome. This one unfortunately is just old and dirty. With relatively minor investment, this place could have been made much much nicer. Simply power washing the porches and the exterior, watching the very dirty and dusty windows, cleaning the old black caulking in the bathrooms. This place works as an investment to make money and it feels that way there's very little personal touch. There's some furniture that was probably left over from the previous owners. The furniture is cool and old. However some things simply do not work. The old wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom cannot close. The mattresses are super soft and you feel like you're drowning in them. The cutlery tray is another story. It was so duty and disgusting that we had to take everything out and wash everything on our own. The smell of mold persisted throughout our stay even though we constantly open the windows to air the place out. There must have been some backyard flooding before we came, because the entire Porsche was covered in layer of dirt. We had to scrub it ourselves to get it in at least semi-normal condition. The porch table was also covered in dirt and we have to wash all of that on our own. The house is old and pretty but it does look like it's falling apart, the wallpaper is peeling off, the floors were painted around the rugs, now some rugs have moved and you can see on painted parts of the floors. They're much better rental places on Chincoteague.

Don't Do It

The location, fenced yard and porches are great. That's where it stops. The smell upon entering the house does not go away even with A/C units running full blast. The humidity (which is probably a large cause of the smell) is out of control---for instance, my sneakers where damp on the inside after one night in the house. The kitchen is not stocked to cook a meal. There are lights out on the stairs (which was super creepy since we arrived at night). The furniture is old yard furniture with poor cushions and sits horribly. Even though the porches are great, the furniture on them definitely isn't. There was no where I was willing to put clothes...none of the drawers work and the armoir was filthy. The tub was also filthy with it's very own spider and left over hair. I could go on, but just don't do it. Even though we had reservations for a week, we weren't able to stay more than one night. The rental agency was wonderful.

Humidity issue at Pine Island Retreat

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There are many great qualities of this home that could make it a fantastic vacation rental, but there are a few overwhelming negatives. This is a 100+ year old home and unfortunately has quite a musty/mildewey smell. The air conditioning units do not properly control humidity and the only reason that my family could stay there was because we supplied our own dehumidifier. The owner needs to run permanent dehumidifiers on each level or correct the air conditioning function. This is the biggest problem - humidity of 70% and above makes it very uncomfortable. The upstairs has not been updated and the walls and ceilings have some loose wallpaper and either old or active water damage areas in the plaster. Half of the electric outlets are not working on the 2nd floor and extension cords are run under carpeting to have outlets and lights where they are needed. Upstairs hallway light does not work. Living room furniture seems to be repurposed patio furniture and is quite uncomfortable. I hope the owner can quickly make some corrections and further updates - it would be a great place if these things could be corrected.

Very old house, needs updating.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed in July 2021. House built in 1900 and it shows. Uneven floors throughout, several extension cords running under throw rugs to replace the many electrical receptacles that do not work, window A/C unit in one bedroom that didn't cool. Kitchen is not well stocked and is cluttered full of junk. There were no nice pots & pans and drawers packed full of non-useful items. Bedrooms were adequate but had old non-functional furniture in them that was totally useless. Two bathrooms were renovated/upgraded which were nice. Best part of the house was the outdoor porch on the first level off the kitchen that we ate in and spent most of our time. Because of the terrible condition of the house, we contacted the Rental Agency, they listened to our complaints and responded the best they could. Would definitely would not stay there again.
