We stayed for the month of May and were so impressed with the property. It is so peaceful and enjoyed the pool and the deck every day. Right from the deck we saw the three toed sloth, toucans, humming birds, brown jays, Montezuma Oropendola, wood creepers, woodpeckers, and many other beautiful songbirds. A group of swallows come for a dip in the pool every day to cool off. Howler monkeys can be heard each morning, and the view is amazing. The house does not have air conditioning but it is not needed. The night time moutain breezes keeps the home very cool and the deck is shaded during the day.
The bird watching was incredible at this property! The home was very clean, the host was great with communication, and the house was comfortable. The porch with expansive view was the best! We were surprised by just how chilly it got in the evening--definitely pack some warm things. And, the pool is unheated, so it was a little too cold for us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
This our second time staying here. Our host was great as usual. Nice location, in the woods, next to a coffee plantation. Clean and well laid out. Many restaurants, and easy grocery shopping nearby. Be prepared for cooler weather since it is located in the mountains. We will return.
The Lookout Casita was a peaceful oasis while we were in Costa Rica house hunting! Each morning we watched breathtaking sunrises. During the day, we relaxed by the pool and on the many hammocks, and took hikes up the mountain further. It was exciting to see the howler monkeys come to the trees right along the back patio. We saw many birds such as toucans and motmots. Palmares and neighboring Atenas have nice town squares and restaurants to visit. Thank you also to the gracious hosts for their superb hospitality!
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place. It is very private and the view is amazing. The kitchen is stocked with all you need to cook. The showers have great pressure and lots of hot water. Everything was spotless. Communication was good. No need for a/c because the nights are nice and cool. We would definitely consider renting this property again if in the area.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Lookout Casita. The view is superb and we enjoyed the proximity to the jungle and coffee plantation.
The balcony, pool area and gazebo are really nice.
Wonderful house, great pool, fantastic views. Plenty of birds and birdsong. Nice place to bring the whole gang, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two outdoor cooking areas. We had only one problem and Piet took care of it.I would definitely stay again.
Our second visit…. Spacious, fun place with lots of little places to enjoy… the ranchero, a gazebo with a grill, the privately tucked away balcony with a city lights view, the sunrises above the constantly moving fog in the mountains. Piet the host was very kind and patient as we settled in a little later than expected. Always appreciated! Fabulous array of toucans visiting daily as was the cattle egret a joy to discover.
The view is amazing especially on the morning with the sunriseWe saw beautiful birdsA lot of towel were available.Neighborhood Is nice and safe. Air in the house is very high moisture content. The two rooms at the back of the house do not see the sun so the air is very chilly. The kitchen accessories are very basic and could be improve.
Very comfortable stay with views beyond compare. Generously supplied and very comfortable all around, especially the beds. Piet was very helpful and gracious as a host, offering excellent recommendations.
Beautiful views at the Lookout, including fabulous sunsets. We were blessed with amazing weather the whole week which made driving some of the backroads easier. The house was clean, comfortable, and had all necessary conveniences.
A great place to relax and enjoy the mountains. Plenty of room to spread out with hammocks out back. Had a BBQ for the family at the pool house and the 3-year-olds really liked the small pool with the fountain. Will stay again on next trip.
Great outdoor areas to enjoy perfect weather with nice breezes, the front porch was our favorite!! Beautiful views, many birds and a nature preserve behind the property. We enjoyed the peacefulness and privacy of the property.
