About this property

The Abbey - near hiking, skiing, and historic downtown Leadville

The Abbey used to be an old Convent built in the 1950s. It was remodeled in 2018 and began operating as a bed and breakfast. It's an ideal location for family reunions, small conferences and retreats, group trips, etc.

It comes fully furnished and ready to use - including linens, basic toiletries, dishes and cookware, internet, etc. There are several common areas including a large kitchen, a dining room, a lobby/living room, a library/chapel, and a large patio with chairs and firepit.

There 11 bedrooms (1 king bed, 2 full beds, 5 twin beds, 9 queen beds) - accommodating up to 26 people. There is an ADA full bathroom, a regular jack and jill style bathroom, and then a large men's and a large women's bathroom.

We live at the property, but we either travel or stick to the basement (let us know your preference) when the whole place is rented out.

But we regularly run The Abbey as a bed and breakfast, so it is set up for guests. We also clean extensively and set everything up for groups like it was a full-time rental property.

Please reach out if you have questions or are interested in renting the space!

Nice place for a small group
Our host was awesome! Very helpful and great to communicate with. The building is older with a couple of the rooms updated as well as the main bathrooms. To help with over comfort of your guest at the property, I wouldn’t take more than 18-20. Priced well and meet all our needs

I (Paul) grew up in Colorado. My family and I lived on the east coast for over a decade, but moved back to CO full-time last year. The Abbey is both an operating bed and breakfast and our home. But we also know large families and groups want to book the entire place and have it to themselves - we tend to travel during group visits. We also have the place set up and equipped for guests - linens, coffee, kitchen, towels, shampoo, soap, and many other accessories and features that you would expect of a professionally-managed property. We also tend to be very friendly - so if you want to interact with us during part of your stay, we love meeting people! We have a separate basement space where we live. We hope you'll consider booking our place for your next family vacation!

Why they chose this property

Leadville is a small, fun mountain town. There is plenty to do here - biking, fishing, skiing, hiking, sight-seeing, etc. Our property is located a block off of main street, so it is easy to walk around town without always looking for parking.

What makes this property unique

Our place is ideal for family reunions or larger groups with plenty of shared space but separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is huge and there are large common areas (including dining room, lobby, patio, etc.). We often have 15 - 25 people at our place, both for events and staying overnight. We have dishes, silverware, etc. to accommodate large groups easily.
