## Emplacement
The former capital of the Aunis region on the Atlantic coast, just a few kilometers south of La Rochelle, Châtelaillon-Plage is one of Charente-Maritime's most famous seaside resorts, offering vacationers a wide range of activities and leisure facilities. A stroll through the streets will reveal numerous Belle Époque villas, typical of the seaside architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The three-kilometer stretch of fine sand and the promenade along the seafront invite you to stroll or swim. Its casino and thalassotherapy center are also part of the town's heritage. To the south of the town, you can visit the village of Boucholeurs, an authentic oyster-farming port, and sit on one of the magnificent mosaic benches to admire the view of the coastline. Steeped in seafaring culture, the oyster and mussel festival takes place in August. As for kite enthusiasts, during the Easter weekend they can attend the International Kite and Wind Festival, and marvel at the spectacle of the sky adorned with canvases of every color!
