Founded in 1846 by German immigrants, Fredericksburg has retained much of its German history, with many of the older buildings keeping their original German styles. The town boasts a rich history, - including Fort Martin Scott, Pioneer Museum Complex and the Lyndon B. Johnson State and National Historical Parks - a booming shopping scene, known as Magic Mile (with over 150 shops, including antique retailers, candy shops and boutiques), an ever-growing art scene and an amazing central location to Texas's blossoming wine industry.
Stonehenge II
Originally erected for fun by two locals residents, Stonehenge II is 90% as wide as the original and 60% high. It has recently been relocated to the grounds of the Hill Country Arts Foundation along with two 13-ft. tall Easter Island heads and is well worth a visit.
