We have a NEW spa hot tub to enjoy in the cool evenings. The house sits equally between the beach and sound.


This 3 bedroom 2 full bath with HUGE outdoor shower with an open floor plan allows for both togetherness and space to get away in the front Florida room or the outdoor first floor covered patio. The hallway leads to three bedrooms. Two have king size beds while the third is set up with a full set and twin bunk beds.

Nice house

We enjoyed our two night stay in the house, which was about 15 minute walk to the beach. On a rainy day we had a good time at the jacuzzi on the ground level of the property.

Comfortable with plenty of room!

Loved our stay and the proximity to grocery stores and restaurants. Very clean and comfortable, only downside was we couldn't really walk to the beach (lots of traffic on the main highway). We had a vehicle, so it was a short drive. Enjoyed ourselves - we will be back!

Okies @ the OBX

We loved our semi-beach house! Upon entering everything was clean and fresh linens and towels were provided. The kitchen had all we needed for food prep & cooking. (knives could use a sharpening but were usable) All furnishings inside were comfortable. The wi-fi is a little slower than usual and Mr. Ed responded very quickly to the one question we had. Daytimes were spent at the beach or sightseeing. We spent most of the evening time downstairs. We loved having this space and had plenty of room for yard games that we brought. The online pictures of this area could use an update. There was not a bar counter downstairs, and the sofa bench was very uncomfortable. Could not get the cushion to fit right. But The chairs and hammocks worked just fine and the hot tub made up for that. The hot tub was clean (that is an extra plus for shared space) It was great having the w/d area, and beach chairs and a tent were supplied. The house met all of our expectations.

Family vacation

I would highly recommend staying at this property. The communication before our stay was wonderful and fast. I love the location, it was so close to many of the tuings we planned to do in Outer Banks. The house was clean and we enjoyed the hot tub each night. I asked about beach chairs before we packed and was told there were 2 at the house so I only briught 1 of ours. When we got there they weren't there so I sent Ed a text and he immediately got back to me and apologized and took care of it so that we had chairs to use. It was a perfect place for our family of 5.

Great beach house

Very clean and well-kept. We like to cook so it was great to have a large kitchen with updated appliances. The Florida porch was great for dinner, games, and an extra separate space for reading in the morning. The basketball goal was a nice surprise and we absolutely loved the hot tub.

Fun House!

Great house in a perfect location. Enjoyed the clean hot tub multiple times each day, bicycles were lots of fun and being on the sound side was better for riding up and down the streets and with the sidewalk along the water. Downstairs table and bar were useful for games and hanging out. Kitchen is huge and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again!

Quiet little house

Very nice, quiet little house just off the main road. Easy to get to grocery stores and restaurants, a little far from the beach but a easy short drive to get there. Perfect for a small family or just looking for a quiet relaxation spot.

Quaint KDH cottage

Very spacious kitchen and living room area, comfortable seating, lots of lights! My husband and I enjoyed a few pleasant short games of basketball in the driveway on a couple mornings! The owner was very responsive and communicative with a number of questions I had prior to our arrival, since I am fairly new to renting from VRBO. We had a water problem on arrival which he dealt with immediately!! Very responsible owner and a pleasure to deal with! Only suggestion is to replace or repair master bedroom shower door as it kept opening everytime you touched it while taking a shower. All in all, an enjoyable stay at SoundNSurf, would return again!

Family reunion

The house is lovely and with a few small maneuverings of decor perfectly suitable for my little boy to riddle around. The only caveats I can mention is that we found a wad of gum on a window sill at check in and the sturdy furniture was not terribly comfortable for my ailing mother. The kitchen was large and suited us well. The fridge niche for the door handle was ingenious. Overall we were delighted with our visit.

Disappointed in the property and its lack of amenities. We arrived after 11 pm tired from a full day of travel. Clean linens (with the exception of one blood stain) were there but we had to make our beds. Towels were at a minimum only one towel per person with one wash cloth. Two dish towels and no dish rags. Dish soap or dish washer soap. Washing machine knob is broken and laundry room had very heavy musty/moldy smell /granted we did receive heavy rains on the night of our arrival but the downstairs outdoor living area was pretty much useless for the entire week. All the cushions and carpets were wet and unusable and the musty smell was very unpleasant. My husband spent a couple of hours attempting to hose off floor. Rolled up carpet revealing mold. Also had mold on the shower curtain in upstairs bath. Property manager needs to inspect property and get a deep clean done. I don’t mean to slam the property but for almost $3000 it was very disappointing Could also toss the stained bean bag chair and stained love seat in dining area

Great Getaway

A short walk to the beach and just minutes from everything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and everyone had their own space. There was plenty of room to get together in the dining room, living room and the downstair space. The owner was responsive to our needs and answered our questions in a timely manner.

Perfect place for a family getaway

SoundNSurf was perfectly suited for our family beach vacation. The main floor is spacious and has plenty of seating for crashing in front of a movie after a long day at the beach. The dining room area is a little tight for 7 people, but it was nice to all be able to sit at the table together for dinner. Bedrooms were a perfect set up for our 2 families - kids in the bunk room, each set of adults got their own room. The highlight of the house, though, is the downstairs lounge area. With the hot tub, a few hammocks, and comfy seating, this is where we spent our evenings enjoying the breeze, some beverages, and music. The only thing I would note is that the walk to the beach does involve crossing a major, 4-lane highway. There is a light, and it is totally doable (I did the walk several times a day), but we weren't comfortable with the kids walking. If you don't want someone to have to shuttle back and forth, you can also park at the pier for $15/day which was a steal for the convenience! All in all, a great house for kids, families, and friends to relax and enjoy beach life. Thank you for a great stay!

Birthday Weekend

This was a trip for my husbands 54th birthday. We wanted to be close to the water but be in a relaxing environment. The house was perfect, as advertised and it felt like home. The neighborhood was quiet and in a perfect location. We spent time at the beach, Roanoke Island, walked the boardwalk in Duck. We played mini golf, did some shopping at the outlets and ate in some great restaurants (2) suggested by the host. This was my first VRBO experience and it was perfect.
