Praia da Areia Branca, located 65 km north of Lisbon, is a typical seaside resort with little foreign tourism. The beach, with its stunningly long stretch of sand, offers numerous surf spots with waves suitable for all levels of surfers. A short walk along the nearby coves leads to deserted beaches, far from the crowds. Just 15 km south of the port city of Peniche, this region includes some of the best surfing beaches in Europe. The waves at legendary surf spots like Supertubos and Lagido attract surfers from all over the world.
Praia da Areia Branca is a favourite beach destination among the Portuguese. Fortunately, there are few hotels or tourist resorts in the area, but in August, the beach comes alive with many locals enjoying their summer holidays. The beach is supervised by lifeguards, and the typical beach tents are a common sight. For those seeking tranquillity, a short walk along the coast will lead to quieter, more secluded spots.
