Our apartment is located in the beautiful monastic Walkenried in the southern Harz
directly in quiet location near the forest. The monastic Walkenried is located in the southern Harz and the historic center of the village is the 1127 built by Cistercian monastery Walkenried and current UNESCO World Heritage Site. By monks of the numerous cultural and historical ponds were built around Walkenried that invite for fishing. In addition to the cultural activities, especially the unique and diverse natural and karst landscape in the southern Harz invites to walks or long walks. The extensive network of hiking trails in landscape, nature reserves and bird sanctuaries are exceptional opportunity to experience and observations. For mountain bikers, the mountain bike arena resin provides numerous signposted routes for experienced climbers but also for cozy family tours. It is only a short walk from our apartment to Naturbad Prior pond and popular around Walkenried fishing ponds.
