Smooth stay at this Burlingame VRBO

The location of this property is great for shopping and morning walks to get coffee. We spent most of our days visiting relatives, but the VRBO had everything we needed for comfortable nights (including remote ceiling fans which came in very handy!)

Comfortable Flat in great location

This 1BR 1BA is clean cozy and ideally located a short walk from downtown Burlingame and the Caltrain station. It’s near the tracks but I wasn’t bothered by the train noise by using a fan as white noise. The kitchen is quite small and didn’t have many utensils. Cute loft in quaint area

I like it here. It’s my 3rd time. The area is great: downtown Burlingame is a short walk. The neighborhood is pretty, with big trees and pleasant homes. The apartment is always clean and cozy.

Burlingame/San Francisco

We stayed in Burlingame due to access and proximity to the San Francisco Bay area. The space was very accommodating. The kitchen and laundry were as advertised. Easy walking distance to restaurants and other entertainment options in Burlingame. Very pedestrian/bicycling friendly community as well. The only real drawback was the proximity to the commuter rail lines. Trains run about every 15 minutes from 5am-9pm. Kate was a very responsive host. Overall, we would stay here again.

Great location for exploring San Francisco if you have a car It's a very good environment except for a little noisy train noise. There are many restaurants, coffee shops and supermarkets nearby.If there is any problem, the owner will take care of it immediately！

Great little apartment near quaint Burlingame

Spent a week here and enjoyed myself. The apartment is cozy, and has a kitchen and laundry facilities. Burlingame and its restaurants are a short walk nearby. The owner was very responsive and helpful. I hope to come again.

Needs a lot of TLC!

This was our first Verbo and probably our last. We chose it because we wanted to be near our grandchildren for the holidays. The place, not as it was described, seems like it is an afterthought for the owner who has invested little in it. The sheets did not fit the bed, and some of the pillows, which were old and lumpy, did not have pillowcases.The quilt was extremely old and shabby. The handheld shower head was precariously attached to the window frame.The soap in the bathroom was just water. We had to request more necessary items like toilet paper and soap in the bathroom. It is not an easy location since it is right near the train station and the walls are so thin we could hear conversation in the business downstairs. The best to be said it was very clean and the manager was easy to contact.

Close to downtown

This is a great location to downtown and a beautiful community park. If you have difficulty going up and down stairs I don't recommend this apartment. Bring your ear plugs the traffic and train noise is bearable but loud at times. Persons under 5'4" will have a hard time reaching the freezer because it's on a raised platform. The rest of the kitchen is fully functional. The bed is comfortable and there is a pleasant outdoor space toward the back of the property.

Bait and switch

The property promised off street parking, but when we arrive there was a mystery car parked in the spot. The host couldn't figure out what to do for over 2 hours. Finally gave up and went to stay in a hotel. At some point after i obtained the hotel reservation and told the host I was canceling there was an offer to get the mystery car towed. Too little too late. After a day of travel I expect the property to be ready to relax and unwind.

Location, location, location!

We enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect and within walking distance to Caltrain, shops, restaurants, library, Starbucks and Safeway. Check-in was smooth and host was super attentive and helpful prior to our stay. There was plenty of natural day light and windows to open which allowed for a lovely breeze throughout the day. The windows are double-pane and help reduce the street noise and train whistle (which brings back fond childhood memories). I always travel with disposable earplugs and a sound machine, but it might be nice to have those available at the unit as complimentary. There are plenty of pillows and blankets and the ceiling fans are a nice touch to keep cool during the warmer days. The space is very functional and met our needs for a quick and unexpected trip. Heat wave

This was as advertised. Unfortunately, there was a heat wave in Burlingame. This property is un air-conditioned and in addition it sits on top of the owners business property. As the first day wore on, the temperatures inside the room were so hot that my phone would no longer charge. The owners were very understanding and agreed to let us pay a lesser rate, but there was no way to actually sleep there. We ended up running to holiday Inn, I want to emphasize that the owners were very classy and understanding. On the other hand, this heat wave was not unexpected, and someone with a health condition could be grievously harmed by the extreme temperatures in this upstairs, un air-conditioned unit That being said the location is fantastic, nearby to everything , and the kitchen is more than adequate . We just didn’t stay there for more than five hours.

Perfect place to stay

This was everything we hoped for - location, simplicity, cleanliness and excellent communications and check-in with the owner. When arriving there is a request not to wear shoes in the home and complimentary flip flops. This should be part of the information, as we seniors, can be wary of going up and down stairs without solid shoes to support us. Also in the house, we often need the support that shoes provide. Other than that give this your best consideration.

Location is key

The property was very clean and in a great location as to the proximity and ease of exploring the Burlingame downtown area. The host was attentive and very nice. The main negative was the proximity to the train tracks and the commuter trains that ran on schedule throughout the day/night. Since there is no central air or window unit, we had to keep the windows open during most of our stay. This was not much of an issue, since the unit was the second floor of the house and the nights were cool enough, a/c wasn't needed. The train, however, was some getting use to at night. I think the train noise stopped running sometime after midnight and would pick back up around 5 or 6 a.m., the next morning.

California road trip

Our first impression was the location and house were nice. We knew this was a 2nd floor accommodations; however, the stairs were very steep with a hand rail only on one side. The top of the stairs cut into the hallway, making it a bit hazardous. I had broken my foot prior to the trip and was in a boot making this an even more difficult experience. The apartment was exceptionally clean. The bed was comfortable. It was very nice to have a washer and dryer. I also enjoyed the outside area, once I got the courage to go down the stairs. It would be helpful to have a picture of the stairs or an indication in the write up that the stairs are steep. In addition, it would be nice to have lighting in the living area to enable reading or game playing in the evening. An additional mirror would also be helpful. There was only one in the bathroom. The apartment was charming and has bunches of possibilities for being fabulous!

Minor inconveniences, but overall good stay

Overall, this property was what we were looking for (not a hotel, nearby to restaurants, safer COVID option, etc) with a few minor inconveniences. It came with beautiful fresh flowers throughout the house, and some complimentary waters, stuff to wash our dishes, etc. and the place was very clean (although the house is pretty old, which was clear to us). The host was also pretty quick to respond when we did not know how to lock the door. However, there were a few things that I wish we had known before booking this place. 1) It is above a business. This wasn’t that big of a deal to us, but it mostly caused us trouble when we were initially trying to find the place! 2) It’s upstairs, but WAY upstairs. There were a LOT of steps, and they were very steep (also, side note, be very careful if you have young children… the stairs somewhat cut into the hallway path so it’s a bit dangerous) 3) It seemed as though the host required that we remove our shoes prior to entering the unit (this would have been really nice to know ahead of time… we followed the request, but it was really inconvenient since we have a baby). There was a shoe rack at the entryway where we kept our shoes, but there were also sandals there. Who’s sandals are those? Are those for us to use? And then because of the shoe rack, it was even harder to squeeze by with all our luggage and car seat. 4) The shower head is hanging on the side of the bath area, and when we turned the water off after our showers, the head of the shower fell off the hook and knocked us both in the head (my husband didn’t tell me, so I did this right after he did!) 5) This is not a huge deal, but it was weird… There was only one tall glass and two small glasses available to use. 6) There is one remote for the ceiling fan that is in both rooms. Essentially, if we turned one on, they both turned on. 7) There was NO direction on what we were supposed to do when we left the place. Usually places will say to wash the dishes, put the towels in the washer, etc, but we weren’t given any information like that. We just left it mostly the way we found it, minus a small little trash can that we forgot to take out. But it would have been nice to get more info. This is our first time booking with VRBO so maybe that’s normal, but we usually get more info when we have booked with other companies. If a lot of this stuff had been communicated beforehand, it wouldn’t have been as annoying, but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless.
