Due to the remote location there is no public transportation near the home. A car would be best. We do use uber often and have had no problems securing a ride within 10-15 mins.

Bikers are welcome as it’s a beautiful scenic area to ride. The roads and area is hilly so it’s not for the beginner.

Please note: You most likely will see and/or hear military training at some point during your stay. The land adjacent to our home is used occasionally as it is part of the Camp Pendleton marine base. From humvees practicing on the hilly fire break next to the home, helicopters flying overhead, to the sounds of the occasional boom for testing. These sounds and sights are all normal for Fallbrook and come from Camp Pendleton. We have a few books at the home describing more of the history of the area and we like to think of these noises as the ‘sound of freedom’ and have great respect for the men and woman serving our country. We have printed some photos from the base and mounted them at the home to share with the guests.

Wildlife:

Coyotes: please note that you WILL see and hear coyotes during your stay. Being adjacent to the base gives us an untouched perspective with abundant wildlife. At night you will hear the coyotes yipping and it will sound like it’s right outside your window. We are at the top of a hill with a valley in front of us. Sounds travels fast and loud at the home.

Rattle Snakes: we have been told the occasional rattlesnake may been seen in our area. We do not recommend small dogs or small children to be left unattended and guests should be aware of their presence. Closed toed shoes are recommended and rattlesnake safety practiced.

Hawks: as we are at the top of a hill with a valley in front of us, we get the great pleasure of hawks soaring above throughout the day. You will also see flocks of birds flying down from the north each dusk. We have several pairs of binoculars in the chest near the back door to further enhance the viewing.

Open Water:

At the bottom of our property there is a small lake. This is not our property and the owner does not welcome visitors. Please no trespassing and ensure small children do not go down the hill or are left unattended.

Amazing!!
We had such a lovely time! The location was secluded and yet close enough that the drive into town was short. The views were spectacular, from sunset to sundown. My morning coffee will never be the same, without that view!! The house was beautiful and had everything you could have wanted! We picked a few avocados and they were delicious! Needless to say, we did NOT want to leave this morning! While my son is in Camp Pendleton, this is for sure our new vaca spot to visit with him! ❤️

Perfect
The property was perfect for what I needed. I wanted to have a get together with friends and family for my retirement party and it’s very difficult to find a place that is large enough and secluded enough to be able to enjoy that time. The hosts were extremely respondent and the property was incredibly fun and spacious. I would stay here again I might ships back to California.

Summer 2023
Very well appointed with all one needs in the kitchen. Definitely liked the isolation from other properties and enjoyed the abundant room so our group wasn't on top of each other.

Not the best for small kids
This is a beautiful house with spectacular views. Bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen area were clean with great TV's in the rooms. Some of the issues we had: When we showed up there was a coyote sleeping on the patio furniture. Not a big deal but there was coyote poop all over the patio (at least 6-7 piles) and nothing to clean it up with. This didn't happen in one day. There was also a large number (20-30) of dead flies on the inside of the window in one of the common living areas. Gross. The rec room (converted garage) floor was not clean and had sticky spots. The property listing stated Lawn/grass- There was none Skeeball and pinball- Neither worked. No skeeballs Horseshoes and cornhole- not set up. I saw a corn hole game in the shed under a large amount of stuff. There was not enough bath towels so we ended up using the spa towels. An iron would be a nice addition. We were in town for a wedding and didn't have an iron. I think one thing that should be made more clear on the property listing is that this is not a great location for small kids. The property information at the house says that a couple of coyotes live on the property and small children should not be left unattended. This detail is in the rattle snake section on the property listing. We had 3 children under age 4 so this was obviously a concern. There is no grass, and there is a steep hill with a very small retaining wall. A small child could easily fall over this.
