If you like older quirky houses, this is the place for you!

Very clean, updated older house very close to the sound and beach. We enjoyed renting this house for the surf fishing tournament; only minutes away from the beach accesses. The owners were very communicative and close by for any questions and/or issues of which there were very few.

First time in a raised beach house

Unique restored beach house with great access to the sound and beach within 3 min. We were in communication with the host throughout our stay. She recommended some good places to eat the first morning and made sure our needs were met.

We are a happy family of 4, living in the paradise of Hatteras Island. We like to travel, visit the beach, walk, hike, and spend time together as a family. We would love to have you come down and experience Island life! Amanda is originally from NJ, and moved to Hatteras Island in the mid-90s. Jamie is a native of Avon, traveled the US following the Grateful Dead, and lived in Boulder, CO for several years. We have been together for over 24 years, traveling all over America together, and are looking forward to many more adventures!

Why they chose this property

Happy Ours Too (formerly Kate's House) is a true labor of love. The home was ground level in Hurricane Irene (2011), and had several feet of flooding inside. We purchased the home in 2012, and raised her up. We worked on renovations through the years, making much progress and finishing renovations in 2021. We added a hot tub and soundside deck in 2024. We hope you love this home as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

Happy Ours Too is located on the Soundside of Highway 12, with marsh and Sound views from the upper level. Our street is quiet, away from the more bustling parts of Avon. Kate's has both outside areas (hot tub, wraparound deck, underhouse area with swing, hammock, and dining table, and yard) and indoor areas (full dining room, and 2 living rooms, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs) so everyone in your party can spread out. It's a short distance to Avon Harbor to catch the sunset, or to the beach or Avon Pier. Happy Ours Too has updated amenities but also has the historic, original Kinnakeet home feel. Seasonal pool and tennis pass included mid-May to September, pool is 1.5 miles from the home.
