No wonder here
The ranch house was not as shown/described in the marketing materials. There were 2 queen beds and the picture showed 1 queen bed & 1 couch/futon. In all fairness, the bed was comfortable and appeared clean. There was no where to sit and eat. The furniture was dusty, and the small appliances needed to be cleaned. The area around the kitchen sink was dirty. There was a sign letting you know they didn't want any dirty dishes left in the sink, which is probably why nothing had been checked recently for cleanliness. Numerous terracotta tiles of the floor were broken and loose. There was no where to hang any clothes other than a few hooks. The vanity in the bathroom was old and broken. The glass shelf and toilet paper holder in the bathroom were coming out of the wall. The shower leaked from the head, reducing pressure. The shower anti-slip mat was mildewed. There was porn left on the recent apps that pops up automatically when the TV was turned on (in front of my grandson)! The front and back doors did not lock and the only way to secure them was to lock the screen/security door. I felt like I was being watched and/or listened to constantly. As soon as I arrived, I received a text asking if I had a dog (which I did and paid for) and how many guests I had(my daughter and family were with me when I checked in). Other times I mentioned something and magically the maintenance man is outside. One night I left the porch lights on and an interior night-light. When I arrived back (after dark) the porch lights had been disconnected and the interior light was turned off. At first the owner was responsive, but as time went on, he seemed to ignore my texts. I stayed here because it was close to my daughter and her family on the Marine base, but I did not realize it was down a very long dirt road and had 2 fifth-wheelers set up beside it. One of which housed the maintenance man. The fire pit was nothing more than a broken bench and a circle of rocks. I only stayed here at night to sleep and shower. I had my daughter stay with me at night because I did not feel safe knowing someone could come in at any time they wished and would. I didn't have a car, and was dependent on my daughter. This is not a place for a woman to stay alone.

Lifelong horseman, professional musician, longtime rock climber, hiker, cyclist and surfer. My house burnt down in the creek fire in 2017 and I moved out to my ranch full time thereafter, and built this container resort to provide high end living in the desert wilderness. We have no light pollution, very little sound except the sounds of the desert and its wildlife, we are very secluded and the stargazing here is world class (literally people come from all over the world to stay here and look at the skies, the rock faces, and the flora and fauna that surrounds us.

Why they chose this property

El Ranchito Wellness Inn and Spa is a super chill spot. A lot of awesome musicians, actors, directors, painters, hikers, cyclists, climbers, and athletes of all stripes have stayed and recreated here, and created some fabulous things. Lots of good juju here.

Aside from the magical delights up in the park, there's great hiking, biking and desert wandering going right out from the ranch house, across the open desert, or ride the dirt roads in our area, or bushwhack cross country in the nearby foothills.

On the ranch there's a pool patio spa next to a lap pool, lounges and daybeds, a palapa with eight hammocks, two outdoor showers and a second spa in in a private cabana (a hot tub in a cabana, that locks from the inside, uses a vacant/occupied sign system, and has no sight lines in), all make El Ranchito de la Playa a fun, romantic and often inspiring sanctuary. It's really important to us that you revel and recreate in our little corner of the Mojave, a place we dearly love. Our goal is to achieve an almost instant dropping of your heart rate as you first relax into a hammock, lounge, rocking chair, or jacuzzi, take in the oceanic desert that engulfs you and the trillions of stars above that shine down, the galaxial sky's awesomeness inevitably softening the heart.

We also offer ATV, Quad, and Fat-Sand-Tire Electric Mountain Bike guided tours of the surrounding desert area.

Additionally we directly offer golf cart rentals to our guests staying at the ranch. If interested please let us know and we'll send you the info.

And we also offer Equine therapy and Horse Experiences.

All subject to availability.

If there's any biking, running, climbing, dirtbiking, horseback riding or hiking you'd like to do while you're in the Joshua Tree area, we'll give you solid recommends (I.e. re: hiking: how long, how difficult, elevation gain/mostly flat/rollers, etc). Think of us as your Joshua Tree Desert concierge.
