Colonial Life
The house was amazing. The deco was beautiful. The two coffee stations was perfect. In a couple of the bedrooms, there was a lot of road noise. But, the ambience of the house was so perfect, that a little road noise did not interfere with sleeping.

We enjoyed our stay at Vaiden Inn . It has a wonderful historic atmosphere while being very comfortable with modern conveniences . The beds were comfortable and the Inn was very clean . The grounds were lovely . The 2 coffee stations with a huge selection of coffees and cocoas were a welcome treat . Jess was very friendly and was very knowledgeable about the local history . We had fun eating at Martha's Kitchen .

A Hallmark Christmas
A group of 8 adults, 1 toddler, and 1 guide dog for my visually impaired mother all fit into this very cozy historical home. The whole place is gorgeous, the grounds have multiple outdoor seating areas (fire pit, a gazebo area, a deck area with a full seating arrangement etc.) and the grounds are lovely and go on for acres. There is a cozy little dinner directly across the street that we definitely stopped into. This place is less than 30 mins to Busch Gardens and/or Williamsburg (we did both and I drove). All the beds were so so comfy and had plenty of warm blankets and pillows. The tea service area on both floors had everything we needed for a hot coffee or tea throughout the day (and we had many haha). The living room area cozily accommodated all of us as we opened our Christmas presents, watched football, and gathered around Christmas movies. The owners are amazing, welcoming, and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. For instance, not only is my mom blind, but she recently hurt her foot and was wearing a boot. I never said anything or asked anything but they shifted things around to make sure the ground floor room was open for us! It was such an amazing gesture to make sure we were all taken care of. The house itself has so much history and the decor was all these incredible originals and antiques! I felt almost like I'd been allowed to stay inside one of the colonial Williamsburg homes and to touch all of it up close! It was Hallmark Christmas perfect.

Great Weekend Getaway
The Vaiden Inn offered us an opportunity to relax and reconnect as a family for a weekend. The accomodations were extremely comfortable for the 6 of us and had all of the amenities of home. We did walk around the property before it started raining. Any American history enthusiast would really enjoy this location. The house and the grounds are simply amazing. It's too bad we couldn't stay longer than a weekend...there's always next time! -The Perez Family

I am Jess... the wife, mom, business owner, web nerd, wine connoisseur (self proclaimed), photographer and traveler! I love to go on adventures with my friends and family, meet new people, see new places, stay in unique hotels/inns/homes and learn about different societies and cultures. This world has so much diversity; it would be a disservice to not experience as much as possible.

I love hosting guests. There is nothing more rewarding than to be able to provide a safe, comfortable and fun place for people who also love travel. I couldn't be more passionate about opening our doors, and a piece of history, to other explorers.

Why they chose this property

Years ago we began searching for the perfect house to rebirth into an Inn. The home had to be in the wonderful, history rich, and charming county of New Kent. A place that offers beautiful golf courses, some of the best wineries in Virginia and natural beauty that has painted the landscape since 1654. Over the years we absorbed the abundance of history, studied the art of hosting and created a business plan... and recreated...and recreated... You get the idea.

When the Vaiden House became available in March of 2017, we knew this was meant to be for us -our dream come true! The house is located in the courthouse district of historic New Kent and conveniently on the same road as all the wineries; not to mention, the home is one of the oldest with the original outbuildings still standing (of only a handful in VA!). It has been well worth the wait and we couldn't be more passionate about opening our doors, and a piece of history, to everyone.

What makes this property unique

The 18th Century house sits along what was known as Stage Coach Road. This once dirt road lead George Washington, civil war soldiers and numerous famous (and infamous) persons from Williamsburg to Richmond. The east and west porches are great for watching travelers of New Kent Highway and views of the historic New Kent Courthouse. There is also a large patio for chilling by a fire or grilling. The large grand house has changed much over the centuries, along with the servants quarters, pumphouse and smokehouse that still remains on the property. Black walnut, Persimmon and Poplar trees line the trail to a creek among the 8 acres.
