A beautiful, peaceful location. Just a short drive/walk to Lake Shiela. The kitchen was very well equipped and the home very accessible for our needs. Kathleen was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this mountain retreat.
This home was a gem hidden in plain sight! The location was perfect to relax but close enough to larger cities like Hendersonville and Asheville. The locals were friendly and welcoming too. I highly recommend this house for a get away from the daily hustle. Looking at the mountains, trees and beautiful landscapes create a serene experience.
We typically stay in Asheville for camp pick up and drop off for our kids but decided this summer that it would be nice to find a home where we could spend a little time together and be closer to the boys camp. This home and town have so much to offer. There was ample space for our family and d friends to spread out. The kids had space and the grown ups did too. The views were fabulous! Every morning we enjoyed breakfast and coffee on the deck and we ended the day with s’mores on the back porch. Kathleen provides a guest pass to the lake and allows you to use their kayaks. This was a hit with our group! The dads fished, the kids swam, and the moms relaxed on the lawn. They even have shaded picnic tables down by the lake. Overall it was a relaxing weekend! Kathleen was easy to communicate with and was helpful in chatting distances between her home and camp. And if you are wondering why you should pick Saluda here are a few selling points: it’s the cutest downtown with wonderful restaurants and shopping. It also offers a wide array of outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, tubing, ziplining, and waterfall hikes.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review, Rachel! Please come back anytime.
We absolutely loved our stay at this property! We enjoyed lounging on the hammock, making s’mores in the fire pit, kayaking on the lake, and just being surrounded by the beauty of the surrounding forest. This morning before we left we saw a mama and baby deer right outside the living room picture window—it was amazing! The house was impeccably clean, well stocked with all of the essentials, and the town of Saluda is adorable. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
This is an amazing home in an incredible area. It is remote but still close enough to get anywhere you want to be in 15-30 minutes. The lake is also fantastic. I would definitely stay here again.
Property is amazing and gorgeous! Communication and hospitality were perfect. It was a bit pricey, but was the only thing I could find that looked handicapped accessible. When I asked I was told it was- but for someone fully wheelchair bound it was not fully accessible. So just know that if you are looking to stay there and need to be able to shower especially. Other than that it’s an amazing property.

I was asked if there was a bedroom on the main floor. There is.
I have pushed a wheelchair through the front door from the parking area. There is a bedroom on the main floor. There's a walk-in shower with a built-in seat. So my husband never had to do any stairs when he was wheelchair-bound. I did have to help him from the wheelchair to the shower seat. He believed that set up was preferable to climbing over a tub wall and standing in a tub and holding a bar. There's a handheld shower head.

I love to travel with my family and have stayed in many VRBO homes so I am excited to be able to share our vacation home with you and your guests.
Why they chose this property
We built this as a getaway. It's a 45-minute drive from our home in Greenville, SC, but the elevation is 2600' so we can get a reprieve in the summer, enjoy the leaves in the Fall and the winter holidays. It a great place for outdoor lovers.
What makes this property unique
It really feels like you're in a nature preserve and being at the top of the ridge at the end of the paved road, it is so private. The house is full of light and windows.
