This house is on Mallard Island in Manahawkin, across the bay from Surf City on Long Beach Island.

Discover the secret of Mallard Island, bounded by a Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge it has peaceful and quiet surroundings, perfect for a vacation. It is a short 5 min. drive over the causeway to the sandy beaches and the action on LBI. There are spectacular views from just about all sides of this house.

The house is small but with lots of charm. Perfect for two couples looking for a getaway or a small family. There is a Queen size bed in the master bedroom, a double bed and kids bunks in the 2nd bedroom, and a pull out couch in the living room. One full size bathroom with walk-in shower.

Mallard Island is across the street from the popular restaurants Mud City Crab House and The Old Causeway.

Long Beach Island and the Ocean are minutes away. The area is great for Kayaking and possible to do it right from the house.

We rent Friday to Friday to allow travelers to avoid the Saturday shore traffic. The ability to get to the beach Saturday morning instead of sitting in traffic is a big bonus of this property.

Manahawkin Bayfront House

Great little place right on the water close to numerous beaches and restaurants. It’s nice to wake up and sit outside by the water, have coffee and plan your day while swans swim by. Well-maintained and very clean. Highly recommend.

Peaceful Oasis on the Bay

The house was amazing for a brief overnight with my family! As other reviews mention, it does have a cozy houseboat feel, which we absolutely loved. Tons of natural light throughout with a great back porch smack on the water. On top of it all, the host, Annisia, was fantastic. We will definitely be coming back in the future!

peaceful stay on the bay

This property was as described and very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookwear, utensils and everything needed to cook and prepare food. The cozy living room has a great view looking out on the bay. I especially liked sitting out on the dock in the morning with my coffee. Very quiet and peaceful. The owner was very easy to contact and very helpful. I can't wait to return to this little gem on the bay.

We didn’t want to leave!

From the moment we walked in, we knew this is a special property. The rooms are clean and well organized. It’s hard not to feel calm and relaxed with the spectacular views of the bay from the living room. Our family of 5 had plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked. The dock is a dream. We had so much fun catching (and releasing) minnows and little shrimp in the bay. I definitely recommend kayaking in the area!

Beautiful peaceful dock of the bay getaway

This was the perfect getaway. The house is so quaint and beautiful with lots of upgraded amenities with everything you could need. And the large window views of the bay are fabulous! The owners are so kind and got back to us promptly with any questions we had. You are close to everything. The beach is the easiest less than 10 min drive away. But our favorite place to be was right on their dock. It’s so peaceful with wonderful unobstructed views for miles. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful place to vacation.

Great location, updated house.

It was a great house right on the Bay. Updated not to long ago I’m guessing it was very comfortable and beachy. Only thing would have been nice to know is it’s really only one room upstairs that they but a thin wall up and a pocket door. So not actually two dedicated “bedrooms” It worked for us because it was just my sister and I. The freezer wasn’t working but that apparently just happened with the last renters and they couldn’t get it fixed so we had no freezer for ice/ice packs for the beach. They offered to pay for a stryofoam cooler though. Overall it was good, would rent from them again!

Loved our little "houseboat"

It felt like living on a cozy houseboat, being right on the water with windows facing all directions! The space is so cleverly designed, for a pretty small place it felt spacious and never crowded/cluttered. The beach decor is perfect and very soothing. We had everything we needed and enjoyed coffee and cocktails on the Adirondack chairs on the dock/deck each day. Lovely little neighborhood for a few loops of walking in the morning, super fast to LBI (except on Saturday afternoon!) and everything you need is conveniently located (grocery, Walmart, LBI attractions). Our host Annisia was extremely responsive and accommodating and we appreciated that very much. One suggestion: the layout of the 2 bedrooms wasn't entirely clear, so it would be helpful if the listing mentioned they are both upstairs, and the room with the bunk beds is "loft style" (at the top of the stairs, no door) and is adjoining the main bedroom with a pocket door. Overall, we really loved this place, it was a nice balance of enjoying the hustle & bustle of LBI as well as having a peaceful little retreat! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Tranquil heaven

We have nothing but good things to say. The host thought of everything and organized the home in such a way that you have all that you need. The area is quiet and private yet close to the beach and all attractions. Would absolutely stay again.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I grew up vacationing on LBI and couldn't wait to have a vacation home here of our own so bought this one back in 2004. It is a wonderful vacation area for families and all who love the beach. We may be new to VRBO in its current format but we are not new to renting. We rented for years, then damage due to Superstorm Sandy prevented us from renting for many years. But now are back and happy to share a little piece of paradise.

What makes this property unique

Our house is located on a wonderful, quiet, and peaceful island (Mallard Island). You will be able to enjoy a true get-a-way while visiting this home.
