About this property

Gîte de Sermaize - POISSON

Owners for a century, the Mathieu family welcomes you to a very rare and authentic 16th-century fortified house, fully restored and exceptionally well-preserved. This exceptional Renaissance-style building, steeped in history, was once the hunting lodge of the Lord of Busseuil (where the lords of Brionnais once gathered for grand hunts). It is arranged in a star-shaped pattern with several outbuildings around a large courtyard, a perfect natural pétanque court. Enjoy complete tranquility in a small rural hamlet (residential and agricultural) nestled in the heart of the unspoiled countryside, on a sublime plateau of rolling bocage (with peaceful Charolais cows as close neighbors), crossed by a bucolic, fish-filled river, near a beautiful wild forest. A true haven of peace and relaxation, immersed in a picture-postcard setting. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation, is exceptionally spacious, and boasts generous proportions. A warm, rustic charm, with a touch of vintage, blends seamlessly with the unique and utterly captivating ambiance of a château (magnificent stone fireplace and spiral staircase, vaulted ceilings, beams, French-style ceiling, carved stone lintels, etc.). A large, naturally shaded gravel terrace opens onto a pleasant lawned and landscaped garden (with a swing and ping-pong table). Stunning, unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside. Composition: Detached house. Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Central wood heating + fireplace (insert). Ground floor: kitchen, living/dining room, TV lounge, 1 bedroom (2 single beds 90x190cm pushed together), separate WC, laundry room. First floor: 3 bedrooms (2 with one double bed 140x190cm / 2 single beds 90x190cm pushed together + one single bed 80x190cm). Second floor: 1 bedroom (one double bed 140x190cm + two single beds 90x190cm pushed together + one extra single bed 80x190cm). Each bedroom has a private bathroom (shower/WC). Enclosed grounds of 1500m² (garden & courtyard) + gravel terrace + bicycle storage + private parking. Amenities including a supermarket are 12 km away. Exceptional historic Renaissance-style building nestled in the heart of a sublime rural setting! Rare authentic "fortified house" of character dating from the 16th century - former "hunting lodge" steeped in history, completely transformed into an ultra-refreshing holiday home with bedrooms with private bathrooms - nestled in peace and quiet on a vast, well-maintained enclosed property, within a small rural and agricultural hamlet, 12 km from Paray-le-Monial, the illustrious sanctuary city of the "Sacred Heart" and 15 km from the charming medieval and commercial town of Charolles, the "Venice of Charolais", the famous city of Charles the Bold (both towns offering numerous amenities including supermarkets as well as rich sports and leisure facilities). Total tranquility in the heart of the rolling Brionnais countryside, mixing agriculture & nature, nestled in the bucolic local bocage dotted with woods, ponds & rivers, a stone's throw from a protected area in "Natura 2000 Zone" for its rich ecosystems, such as beautiful wild forests. Ideally located on the Romanesque churches circuit and several marked "green walks" (connected to a vast network of similar hiking and mountain biking trails), 2 km from a marked "VTT-FFC" mountain bike route (linked to a vast network of similar routes crisscrossing the area), 12 km from the "Véloire" Green Way along the banks of the Loire (the last wild river in Europe protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone"), 12 km from the "Cycloroute71" (tour of Saône-et-Loire), 12 km from the EuroVelo 6 cycle route linked to the "Tour de Bourgogne à Vélo", and about fifty km from the first vineyards of Beaujolais (the first vineyard in the world recognized as a "UNESCO Global Geopark"), the Côtes Roannaises and the Côtes Maconnaises ("Burgundy Wine Route"). & Beaujolais Wine Route to explore). At the southern tip of Burgundy, not far from the first wooded foothills of the Beaujolais Mountains, in the heart of the superb Charolais-Brionnais territory labeled "Land of Art and History" - cradle of the AOC of the world-renowned cattle breed - at the crossroads of the departments of Allier, Loire & Rhône, at the intersection of Sologne & Montagne Bourbonnaise, Pays Roannais, Mâconnais-Clunisois as well as Beaujolais. Perfect location for exploring several departments: 12 km from Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais & its iconic weekly "Livestock Market" dating from the end of the 15th century (one of the oldest in France, a literal spectacle dedicated to the local Charolais star!), 18 km from La Clayette, 20 km from Marcigny (renowned Monday morning market created in 1266), 20 km from the medieval village of Semur-en-Brionnais with the very rare "Most Beautiful Villages of France" label, 23 km from Digoin (river marina nestled at the convergence of 3 renowned canals including the famous Canal du Centre), 33 km from the town of character of Charlieu approved "Most Beautiful Detours of France", 49 km from Roanne, 55 km from the illustrious abbey town of Cluny & 58 km from the very renowned PAL amusement park. An ideal "base" for a relaxing green getaway with family, literally immersed "outside of time"! Total change of scenery guaranteed!
