The house was very comfortable and the view was very nice. There are some maintenance issues especially in the kitchen. The cookware and small appliance need replacement.

The main issue with our stay was regarding the water. On multiple occasions there was either no water at all or no hot water. One bedroom had barely any water in the shower due to the dirty/clogged shower head. Even though management sent a plumber, we still experienced the same issue several times. The handles to turn on the water vary by shower, meaning sometimes the left was the hot one, sometimes the right, sometimes neither. Also, the kitchen and the bathrooms were not very clean upon arrival. The coffee machine provided was left with an old, moldy coffee filter. The kitchen items are outdated. For example, all the knives are completely dull rendering them almost impossible to use. Other items were insufficient for a house this large and for multiple occupants (no large bowls for salad and only four small bowls). Matches needed to turn on the stove (no explanation about this given at check-in). No dishwasher and the washing machine took hours and did not wash clothes well. The pool is unheated (I know it's normal for the area) and the beach has several, erosion-prevention sand bags and concrete circles making entry and exit into the water difficult. The surroundings leave much to be desired. It was dangerous to go jogging on the adjacent streets as there are groups of agressive dogs roaming around. Although we enjoyed our stay, the issues with the water and the kitchen were very disappointing. No discount was offered for our water issues, just an apology.
Our group of seven had more than enough room to spread out at Casa Puerto Paraiso. The large beachfront patio and pool were favorite spots to spend time throughout the days and evenings. The home's layout allowed for welcome airflow through its central first-floor living space, with individual mini-split AC units in each bedroom and both sitting rooms, downstairs and upstairs. Juan was a communicative and helpful property manager who responded to our questions and needs. The property lacked hot water in some of the bathrooms, and over the course of the week we lost hot water everywhere but the kitchen. The issue was not resolved despite multiple visits from property personnel. We appreciated having an on-site washer and dryer for our weeklong stay. The beach here is narrow, with a large concrete erosion control barrier located a few feet out into the water that must be swum over or around. We spent more time in the pool than the Gulf. There were some insects inside the house, but never amounting to a full-on infestation. The neighborhood seems safe and quiet, within a short walk to downtown Chicxulub and a quick drive to Progreso. It was especially quiet in October, with many local restaurants, shops, and attractions closed until the winter tourist season begins.
