About the host
Hosted by Abigail Daly

I moved to Strone in 2015 having fallen in love with the area on my many stays at Ruskin Lodge North. I am a graphic designer and editor, working with charities and tourism organisations.
We are an ethical self-catering business. The lodges were purpose-built as holiday homes and were only granted planning permission on the grounds that they couldn't be used to live in year-round. This means we're not taking a home away from the local long-term rental or housing market - a big issue for communities in Argyll.
Why they chose this property
Me and my partner bought Ruskin Lodge North in 2013 after discovering the area on a day trip from Glasgow where we were living at the time, and moved here in 2015. Cowal is a beautiful and relatively undiscovered part of Scotland and there are so many different kinds of landscapes - lush ancient forest, dramatic rugged mountains, a gorgeous coastline and bubbling rivers. There is a vibrant creative community and lots of events and activities to enjoy, led by knowledgeable, skilled local residents. We bought Ruskin Lodge South (formerly known as Puck's Lodge) in 2021 and have been welcoming guests since 2022 following its redecoration and refurbishment.
What makes this property unique
The lodges are redecorated and refurbished and offer comfortable accommodation for friends, families and couples alike. Ruskin Lodge North and South can be booked together so that larger groups can be accommodated.
