We had 2 couples traveling to visit the Octoberfest that’s held at the Sugar Mountain ski resort. The condo itself was way higher than my expectations. It’s beautifully decorated, has everything you need, comfy beds and furnishings, and so much more. The views were stunning!
Vicki was so helpful and easy to work with. She was super nice and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be going back to Cloud 9! You can’t go wrong with this one!!
Wonderful experience. I felt very pampered surrounded in luxury. My teenage boys loved the space. There was blizzard like weather and we were content staying indoors in “cloud 9”
I hope this condo is available next year! Homeowner responded quickly and was very helpful.
Thank you,
Ginger
We booked Cloud Nine as a short birthday get away. There were four of us, all in our late 60s early 70s. We were all impressed with the decor and detailed woodwork. The beds were comfy, the kitchen well stocked and the view was breathtaking. It was perfect. Vicky communicated with us and was so gracious . I highly recommend this condo. We hope to make it an annual trip. Thank you Vicky for everything.
Great stay! Condo was perfect for our family of 3. Only thing I would reccommend is a little more detailed description of check in process. We had to wait for approx 45 min in the parking lot to drop off our luggage and check in, as only 5 cars are allowed at the registration area at a time. No big deal, we just hadn't planned for that kind of a wait. Once we made it in though, we were blown away. 5 stars and would reccommed to anyone - maybe just plan your check in time a little better than we did.
Everything from the stunning decor, well stocked utensils, pans, dishes, and of course the incredible view was amazing. Even the linens on the bed smelled so fresh and clean it felt just like home only a little better. Our host was so prompt with all communication and so very helpful with any questions we had. Also, we highly recommend Mountain Grounds coffee and tea co in Boone. The foggy ridge drink was so perfect for a cold windy November day. Oh fyi …be prepared to see solid white out your windows when it’s foggy, which in its own way is very exciting to feel like you are literally up in the clouds. It was a truly a wonderful trip and we are already planning on returning!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this iconic location. The condo was super comfortable and the view was amazing. Both nights we stayed we had a beautiful sunset from the balcony. My only issue with our stay was that there was no communication until we booked about the parking situation. People renting were not allowed to park in the upper lots and had to take a shuttle down to the lower lots to get their car. If you are a person with mobility issues this would have been difficult. The shuttle was timely but it was also not a super busy weekend. We had a fantastic stay and it was worth it for us to deal with the hassle but I probably would not stay at Sugar Top Resort again with the current parking situation, which is no fault of the owner of the condo owner. The condo truly was wonderful.

Nice But…
The condo is elegant and exactly as pictured.
The building itself is old and in need of renovation. While the views are gorgeous, the building itself is isolated on top of the mountain so there isn’t a lot to do unless you drive down the mountain. Also the building feels more like a retirement community, and the unit like a museum, which means families with small kids may not feel welcome.
The parking is not ideal as you park in a lot below the property and shuttle to and from the entrance. There is also work being done on the property, which meant balcony furniture had been removed.
The biggest issue we had is when we arrived there was no electricity in the building or on the mountain. There was one light working by generator in the living room. We were told by the building and the owner that the generator would be shut down by 8PM so the power company could restore the power. I don’t blame the owner for the power outage, but when we let her know the situation, she became fairly rigid.
In looking for other accommodations that were not a “hotel,” we found that most of the cabin and condos require minimum stays. We found another property, down the mountain, with power and informed both VRBO and the owner we would not be returning to her unit and requested a refund. No refund has been given and both the owner and VRBO have been uncommunicative.
Buyer beware of the condos at Sugar Top and this host. Not ideal.
