About this property

Cozy Country Cottage

A unique country property includes late 1800 buildings (brick house, brick barn, brick ice house, brick granary converted to cottage, cyprus horse barn). Hike the fields and the timber. Watch for deer, turkey, heron, hummingbirds and hawks. Enjoy our
'hobby farm' with 'mini-moos' and one lovable retired horse, one rescued mini-horse. The cottage is an 1870's granary with some walls containing original, handmade brick, surrounded and converted to a relaxing comfortable home. It is freshly painted and carpeted throughout, and has a full kitchen, and lovely but comfortable antiques. Garage/entry includes rubber boots in all sizes to traverse the three creeks or hike the meadows. Charcoal grill includes charcoal and lighter fluid for your use.
There is a small fire pit, with a brick surround made from the same 1870's bricks. Wood is provided. The cottage has toys for children, although we asked that your children are supervised by an adult at all times, due to wandering animals, fences, and gates.


You are close (15 min ) to Peoria, Caterpillar, Civic Center, St. Francis, Methodist, Proctor Hospitals, Riverfront. Enjoy Washington's unique and historical Town Square with antique malls, candy shoppes, caramel corn & ice cream, unique gifts, including local arts and crafts. Enjoy the best gourmet coffee in the world at The Blend. There are a variety of restaurants and local diners. There are the typical chains from pizza, to burgers, ice cream and chicken. Three grocery stores are nearby, as well as a super -store Walmart. Relax and enjoy the quiet at our lovely and relaxing hobby farm, and take a short drive to our charming town. Hop on the highway a few miles down the road and zip to Peoria for city attractions including shopping, river fun, sports and theater.

Perfect Peaceful Retreat for Our Family Disc Golf Trip

This was an amazing place to stay! Our four girls loved it, they kept saying it was like being in a Disney movie with all the wildlife! Comfortable, peaceful, and lovely. I couldn't imagine a better place to go back to after a busy day.

Great, peaceful location!

Sal and Buzz were awesome hosts, and their property is amazing. Very comfortable, with lots of area to explore, and animals to visit. A very cozy and quiet place!!!

This place was a perfect getaway for our family!!! We enjoyed our stay, we appreciate all efforts of our host to make our stay more comfortable. Fun and relaxing

We needed to stay in the area for sporting events, and this was a short, convenient drive to anywhere we needed to go for sports and food. We had a lot of fun when we had an afternoon to stay at the cottage and play in the creek, play disc golf, and make smores in the fire pit. The owners were easy to communicate/work with and very friendly.

Cozy cottage

Comfortable charming cottage. Property is beautiful, enjoyed my coffee on the patio watching birds & deer. Sal and Buzz thought of everything....and treated us with great coffee and fresh cookies. Walking trails were great. Birds, turkeys, deer. Way better than staying in a motel room for 5 days!!

Relaxed family-friendly farm getaway close to everything

The charm and landscape of this property create a beautiful setting in the country, while it's proximity and amenities provide comfort and ease. The cottage was a perfect size for our family of five and we all enjoyed the hiking, Creek, horses, and open spaces of the farm. Just minutes away from the town center of Washington, and 20 minutes from Peoria, we enjoyed resale shops, boutiques, ice cream, and scenic views. We can't wait to go back and explore the museums and more!

A peaceful retreat

My son and I stayed at Lane’s End Cottage for a week while visiting my folks. He worked from the cottage and appreciated the quiet and the WiFi. After a long day of visiting it was wonderful to return to the cozy cottage in the evening for a great night’s sleep. We were there during a beautiful week in October and enjoyed the changing leaves, the wild turkeys and the deer. It is a lovely bit of country so close to town.

Crafters Paradise

This was our 2nd stay here. We were greeted with home baked cookies and a nice visit from the owner of the property. We loved the country feel , yet close by grocery store, Walmart, etc. we brought several painting projects to do during our week’s stay and found a garage turned into a cool work area. Excellent place to work on crafts. The beds were comfy and plenty of room to sit around and visit. Recommend this property for a relaxing getaway!

Quaint, but spacious cabin just outside of Washington

We stayed at the Cozy Country Cottage for three nights in early July while visiting family. My three children, aged 6, 8, and 10, loved the property, feeding the horses and walking down to the cattle pasture and watching the cows graze. The cabin itself is clean and spacious, with Wi-Fi available and games for kids of all ages. The most surprising part of our stay is that the property feels like it is tucked far away from civilization but is only a very short drive away from Washington. Buzz was there when we arrived and gave me a tour of the property and described when and how each structure was built - a great way to start the trip. We will definitely request to stay here again next time we visit!

Sal and Buzz's place is a great place to spend time.

This secluded retreat belies its proximity and ease of access to a major metro area. Sal and Buzz have made their cottage as homey and welcoming as we could have hoped for. The sleeping accommodations are well laid out and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, dishes, and common cooking spices. This is our second visit in four years and I regret to say that we had so many activities scheduled in the area that there was no time to explore the 58 acres of woods and pasture that make up this well cared for property. Maybe next time!

Perfect hobby farm for the family!

This picturesque hobby farm includes several historic buildings that provide a lovely view, with a wooded backdrop to make you feel truly transported. The small fields with horse and pony are lovely companions to our daily trips to the swings and play kitchen, perfect for our kiddos. Mature trees everywhere make the perfect setting for catching fireflies every night. Hang out in the comfy cottage, take a hike around the property, wade through the creek, make a fire for s'mores, or just play yard games in the ample green space. This is a great place to spend several days while you get in all the vacay vibes from relaxing, being in nature, getting active, or touring the many antique and ice cream shops in nearby towns. The lovely hosts even provide free passes to the local rec center where we spent hours playing in the family-friendly zero entry pool. Local coffee shop (The Blend) kept us going on tasty Dirty Chai Lattes, but the full kitchen in the cottage made making our own meals a breeze. Thank you for a great stay, we can't wait to come back!

Peaceful retreat

Sal and Buzz where most welcoming and kind. They greeted us with a tour and history of the cottage and a plate of homemade cookies. The cottage is beuatiful and the surrounding trails are breathtaking. The entire property is perfect for disconnecting and making memories. Our kids (9,6,4,1) had so much fun starwatching, hiking, making smores and visiting the horses. We hope to make this an annual family retreat. Thank you Sal and Buzz!

Lovely cottage at a lovely location with lovely hosts!

We were looking for a place within a few hours drive of Chicago to get away from the light pollution to view the lunar eclipse. The cottage was renovated right before our stay. I loved the vintage feel of the place still coming through. Buzz & Sal were very responsive with my questions, accommodating & came by to chat with us. A plate of home baked cookies awaited us on arrival with a basket of snacks. We explored the property, hiked through the creeks & fed the horses. The nature sounds both day & night were incredible. We have t-mobile & our cell service was very sketchy FYI.

Counrty in the city

If you are looking to get away while still being in the action, this is the place. Its very close to everything but secluded down a dead end road. The sounds and quietnes of a farm but very close to normal life conveniences!
