This beautiful new home is the second situated on the shore of Payne Lake just outside of Mountain View, Alberta and within 10 minutes from the entrance to Waterton National Park. Perfect for a couple wanting to get away or a large family gathering for a week or two. Close to other attractions like Cardston, Fort Macleod historical fort and Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, and Castle Mountain ski resort. Summer water activities are ideal outside your back door and this lake also is a popular site for ice fishing in the winter. Wooded areas are within walking distance as well. Sleeps 8. Please inquire regarding additional visitors and relevant fees.
This property is available in 2 separate suites - the main floor with 3 bedrooms (THIS listing) has a full kitchen and a spacious living room along with two full baths. The lower suite (other listing) has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Book separately or RESERVE BOTH FLOORS for larger groups with a total 15% discount from the entire house price (which you'll be refunded when you reserve and complete both bookings). We booked this for our annual family Thanksgiving trip to the mountains for some hiking. It was a lovely place that was nice and close to Waterton, was spacious for our family and had some great views. We managed to get two seasons of weather in two days!

A beautiful location matched with a new home on a pretty lake close (20 minutes driving the speed limit!) to Waterton and Cardston. Check-in was very easy, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the rest of the house was spacious and nice. Check-out was also easy and communication with the host was efficient. The morning views of the lake and the Canadian Rockies made this home an amazing stay!

The perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. There is a path to the lake and steps for easy access to the water. It was great to be able to swim surrounded by Mountains! (a bit cold in June though)

The home was beautiful and the lake view was incredible. Our family really enjoyed paddle boarding on Payne Lake. It was only a short drive from Waterton. The kitchen was well stocked and the island was great for family to gather around. The host (Wayne) was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We would go back!

Wonderful base camp for Waterton adventures. Beautiful setting to come back to at the end of a day exploring. The mountain views are amazing while watching local wildlife, like pelicans and cliff sparrows. The kids enjoyed the lake. Fortunately the weather cooperated and we had relatively calm wind and hot weather during our stay. Would definitely recommend this property to others. Sleeps 6 nicely, glad we didn’t have 8. The master bedroom has room for an air mattress which I would prefer to the living room sofa beds , so you may want to consider taking one if you have more than 6 people. Also consider packing beach towels and camp chairs for lake use.

Serenity by the Lake

Rental was as described in listing making this stay memorable!. The house was in immaculate condition and well maintained with wonderful views. Hated to leave! Scenery was spectacular with full views of the lake, plain and mountains in the distance. Most gorgeous sunsets! Will return again, if in the area. The only element that was lacking was access to the lake. We would loved to been able to enjoy a swim.

Nice quiet spot to relax outside of Waterton

We really enjoyed our stay right on the lake. It was nice and quiet and away from the town. We had everything we needed and it was convenient to be able to do laundry daily after getting dusty from hiking. The road to get here is a gravel road and the direct route via google maps will not get to the house. However, it was not a far drive away. It was about a 23 minute drive into Waterton town. When we are back in the area, we will return!

Great Stay with Stunning Location – Just a Few Minor Hiccups

We recently stayed at this property and overall had a great experience. The location is absolutely amazing – peaceful, scenic, and very convenient. The stay itself was comfortable, and the check-in instructions were well-organized and easy to follow, which made settling in smooth and hassle-free.One issue we encountered was with the air conditioning – it either wasn’t working properly or wasn’t effective, which made certain times of the day a bit uncomfortable.We had arranged for a late checkout (just an hour later), and the owner had kindly agreed in advance. However, on the day of checkout, we were informed that the cleaner had arrived early, and we had to leave as per the original time. It wasn’t a big deal, but it’s worth noting that if you have any special requests like this, it might be a good idea to reconfirm with the owner a day or two before checkout to avoid any last-minute surprises.All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place, especially for the location and overall ease of stay.

Stunning views and what a huge space!

Beautiful property with a beautiful deck overlooking the lake with stunning views! The owner was very responsive when I needed anything at any time. The only challenge I had was finding the place as there is no address. I’d recommend looking ahead at a map with the written directions so that your gps doesn’t lead you astray like mine did! The owner was a lifesaver getting us there in the end. 👍🏻😊

Great location, just wished the air conditioning worked

The good: Nice place, very conveniently located proximal to Waterton. Tons of space for the four of us. Lots of natural light and a very airy feel to the place. Well stocked kitchen. We didn't end up doing much cooking, but it looked like it had everything we'd need. Bed were comfortable. Internet connection worked well. Being able to park 20 ft from the kitchen make loading and unloading very convenient. There was another party on the lower level, but we could hardly tell they were there. Thank you so much for having a floor plan in the listing! It is always so hard to put together the interior layout from just a few pictures. The bad: This isn't a knock on the place, just a note on the area, we did wish we'd brought a bit more food with us as the grocery options in Waterton and Mountain View are very limited and after a day of hiking, we didn't feel like venturing further, but we got by. I'm sure there are better stores a bit further from the house. When we were there, the highs were in the upper 80s to low 90s. The big windows let in a lot of heat in the afternoon/evening even with the blinds closed you could feel the heat radiate into the living room. The air conditioning either couldn't keep up or just plain wasn't working, because when we got there it was 85 degrees in the house. We ended up having to open up the windows every night after the sun went down to cool the place down so we could sleep. It did cool down nicely each night, but i

That view!

We just loved this brand-new property. The view over Payne Lake to the mountains was just outstanding - unobstructed sunset views right out the front of the house! The house itself was great, we had a few very minor things that could have been better but nothing that took away from the overall great experience. And those minor things are sure to improve as time goes on, they seemed to be related to it being brand-new. For example, a bit of construction materials still laying around (but not in the way at all), it felt a little bare with nothing on the walls, etc. Again, none of this had any real impact on our stay, who cares if there are pictures hanging on the walls?!?! It was an easy (and pretty) drive to Waterton and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I was back in the area. Since the house is so new the directions are a little confusing, be sure and carefully read the directions from the owner rather than allow your GPS to guide you.
