About this property

Little Dipper: charming 2 BR cottage close to conservation area and bay beaches

This 2 bedroom, 1 bath cozy, rustic cottage is perfect for a small family or couple. With a small, well equipped kitchen, dining area, living room and back porch that leads to a private deck with gas Weber grill and private outdoor shower it is nicely situated on a private dirt drive. Skylights, working fireplace, ceiling fans in every room and as well as air conditioning units add comfort to this sweet spot located next to 60 acres of hiking, less than a mile from bay beaches and within a few miles of beautiful National Seashore beaches. Wellfleet is a quaint town located 15 miles from Provincetown and 10 miles from Orleans and is known for the spectacular ocean beaches and spring fed kettle ponds. The cottage is in the Indian Neck neighborhood on the bay side of Rt 6. The 3 season porch is ideal in inclement weather or if you must put in a few hours of work on your vacation.

This “charming” 1940’s cottage is just that—small @ 500 s.f. with rustic charm. It is well equipped with everything you’ll need (except for linens, though I am happy to refer you to a local service), but it is efficiently compact. It sleeps 5, but is ideal for 3-4. There are dressers and areas to hang clothes, but there are no closets, and the indoor bathroom has a shower and no tub. That said, it’s a perfect launching pad to discover magnificent outer Cape Cod!

*Little dipper because the stars at night are amazing, and it’s close to a variety of swimming spots!

I’m originally from CT and spent time every summer on Cape Cod-mostly in Eastham and Wellfleet. Now I live in San Francisco and love having this little slice of heaven to enjoy, and when I’m not there, share with others. I hope you enjoy your time at my cottage as much as I do!!

Why they chose this property

I absolutely love that there is a nice nature preserve next door - great for walking through the woods to the marsh. The walk to town is a bit longer, and can be an adventure because if you don’t time it right, the tide will come in and you’ll either have to have another drink to wait it out, or walk along rt. 6 for a little bit. The short walk to Chipmans cove for a stunning sunset is not to be missed. It’s a perfect little spot.

What makes this property unique

It is lived in. I don’t mean it’s run-down, in fact, I mean just the opposite. I stay at the Little Dipper for a month in summer, a month in spring and a month in fall if I’m lucky—which means if something needs attention, I see it and take care of it. Of course it also means I’m used to dealing with the quirks, so if you see something that should be fixed, or be different, please say something! I appreciate your suggestions.
