Prairie Graceland is a great short term rental. Five of us were in town for the Nebraska/Michigan football game. This house provided plenty of room for us. The place is well appointed. We used the front porch a lot during our short stay. The home is in a relatively quiet and very safe neighborhood. We all thought the actual house was nicer than even the listing photos showed. Highly recommend staying here!

We really enjoyed the property, especially the porch and back yard. The porch needs a good washing.

Charm and great location

We loved staying in this charming house. The neighborhood was fun and perfect location. We even participated in shopping the neighborhood yard sale weekend. The house was clean and well stocked with many extras. Would love to book again someday.

Sweet Home

This is a sweet place right next to the East Campus of UNL. It is super close to the UNL Dairy Store where you can find delicious ice cream. The home itself is comfortable, cute, clean, and stocked with everything you need. Brian is an excellent communicator and great host. We especially loved the front porch, back deck and sitting area under the pergola. The yard is really nice. The beds were super comfortable.

We loved this house. It is as advertised. We loved being on Professor’s Row and how beautiful the whole neighborhood is. The NU Creamery is across the street and we enjoyed several trips over for ice cream. If we are ever back in Lincoln we will try our hardest to stay here!!

Professor's House

Beautiful location. Safe neighborhood. Very walkable. Easy access to everything we wanted. Host was very responsive. Fairly clean. All the amenities we needed. Nice big kitchen; comfortable furniture; dining table was perfect for game-playing. House is very creaky and upstairs got a bit warm. Having the host in the basement and garage was a bit creepy.

Great space, location and accurate listing.

The space and location were perfect. We would just make a couple suggestions. There were ants in the kitchen, near the trash can on the floor. Unless you're there for a little bit you may not notice they were there. The cupboards were pretty messy. I'm sure it is hard to keep track of everything, but a little attention in this area would have made this a perfect experience.

Definitely an older house - served us well

We used this house as home base during UNL commencement weekend with 6 adults staying at varying times. The location was nice - away from all the commotion of city campus, but still close enough. Beds were comfortable, grounds were lovely, dining and living room were spacious and comfortable. Overall, this house served us well, and we even had extended family stop by for an open house (with the owner's permission). To make things better, we suggest: updating the bathrooms. The shower upstairs drained VERY slowly and the downstairs showerhead was very clogged and in need of replacing (easy fix). The downstairs bathroom floor really needs replacing. More counter space and towel racks in the bathrooms, as well as more towels. Some surfaces throughout the property hadn't been dusted (e.g. an open shelf in the kitchen, outdoor furniture, furniture in the bedrooms). The kitchen was large, and had many of the needed utensils, but the drawers were in serious disarray and it was difficult to find things. Also, typical items were either not found/available, or were very low (e.g. dish soap, cork screw, paper towels, trash bags, masking tape). As for the bedrooms, there were not mirrors in each room. Also, there could have been a desk or table added to two of the bedrooms - more surface space is always appreciated. The closets were not at all useable; needed racks and hangers. Need a handrail on top part of stairs. Also, the floors are very creaky - which is charming, but also noisy.

About the host

Hosted by Brian

Host profile image
I grew up in Papillion, just south of Omaha and fell in love with Lincoln when I attended the University of Nebraska in 1995. We enjoy gardening, landscaping and fixing up this beautiful old property. Much of the furniture was hand made in my shop including the farmhouse dining room table, front porch chairs and the credenza in the study.

Why they chose this property

This part of Lincoln’s historic East Campus district is special—tree-lined streets, front porches, and the kind of neighborhood where people still wave and chat on summer evenings. Many neighbors are master gardeners who take real pride in the area, and it’s an easy walk to coffee, trails, campus, and great local spots.

What makes this property unique

Built in 1919, this home blends classic character with modern comfort—original hardwoods, pocket doors, archways, and crown molding, plus a spacious front porch with a swing. We’ve added modern essentials like strong Wi-Fi, smartlock self check-in, and updated showers, so it feels historic without feeling dated.
