Very clean and easy to find. Good communication with friendly and helpful host. Kitchen had everything we needed. Interesting places to visit within 30 minutes from property. Had a great time.
We enjoyed the book selection and the antique furniture. Their was tooth paste on the mirror and the pillows were flat. Could have used a blow dryer for people that fly in.
We enjoyed our stay overall—this place is in a very convenient and safe location, which made getting around easy and stress-free. That said, a few basics were missing. There were no washcloths or hand towels, and only a few bath towels were provided. There was also no bar soap, which would have been helpful. In the kitchen, a few additional items like dish cloths, a Keurig, and some basic cooking utensils would have made things more comfortable. With a few small improvements, this could be an even better stay.
We came to the area to visit our daughter and needed a place to stay nearby. This was way more convenient for us that Gainesville or Ocala. The area was beautiful. We took several walks. The house was quaint, well decorated and comfortable. As with any old house, there may be some creature comforts missing but that was not a big deal for us. We would definitely stay again.
This was a lovely home. It was very relaxing. The house and yard was gorgeous. Great Location...close to Micanaopy & Paynes Prairie. I would definitely stay again.
We had a very enjoyable stay. Took some time to figure out the TV options and the bathroom downstairs with a shower is really small. Overall it is a beautiful home and location to sit on the porch and listen to the owls and birds.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Farmhouse. Communication with owner was great, check in was easy and smooth. Peaceful surroundings made for a lovely time with my fiancée.
Kitchen & living room were well stocked. Upstairs bedroom was spacious and cozy. Loved the arched windows!
Highly recommend exploring nearby Paynes Prairie trails and town of Micanopy.
Great place for a couple to stay when visiting the Cross Creek area
Everything about the house was really nice. Light airy bedroom with a king bed. Cozy reading nook. Nice kitchen. Sunny (in the morning) dining area. Comfortable living room. The porch and grounds are peaceful. Makes you feel like you are out in the country, but there are other houses within eyeshot. We felt safe and secure here and were really able to relax. We would definitely want to stay here again when we revisit the area. Also, the host were super nice and very unobtrusive.
We enjoyed our stay. My only complaint would be that I thought there was more than one bed because of the pictures. There is 2 different pics of the king bed. The sleeper couch was not an adequate option. Very uncomfortable.
Otherwise the king bed was very comfortable and we really enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch.
The location was very nice. The house was a nice layout and has a lot of potential. We really liked the place, but the house needs to be upgraded in many areas (shower, toilets, kitchen). Lots of dust under furniture and window sills. BBQ grill needs to be replaced (no heat deflectors, bottom rusted away completely).
Our comments are meant to encourage owners to improve this property. It would definitely be worth putting time/effort/money into. It was a delightful place and we’d stay there again.
Pros:
Friendly and flexible hosts.
Gorgeous, large lawn with beautiful azaleas and lovely Live Oaks.
Quiet location.
Large bedroom.
2 TVs.
Lots of books.
Cons:
The grill has a hole the size of a basketball, totally unusable.
3 spoons and 3 table knives in the kitchen.
The shower is small and backs up.
If you’re looking for peace & quiet, this is the place for you! The rental itself was very comfortable & had everything we needed. The bedroom upstairs was just lovely. I spent many nights reading in the overstuffed chair in the sitting room just off of the bedroom. I appreciated the nice towels and comfy bed! We biked half of the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail which is 16 mi long. Golfed in Gainesville at Ironwood. Ate at Mother’s and Northwest Grill. Both were excellent! We would definitely stay here again!
Had to be in Florida for a work conference. This little house was perfect for what I needed. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The property, while in a neighborhood with close neighbors, felt secluded. It had a spacious yard. Nice big trees with lots of Spanish moss let you know you were in the Deep South. The biggest drawback for us was the small shower. It likely wouldn’t be an issue for normal sized people, but my husband is 6’5” and showering was problematic for him. Overall if I had to be in the area again and this house was available I would 100% stay again.
