Great, quiet location.
We all loved our stay at this bungalow. Nice and quiet. Great outdoor space for kids to run around in. Fully equipped kitchen. Nice comfy beds. Lovely walk to a secluded beach. Nice trips into Dungarvon. All round great short break for all of us. Thank you. Would recommend.

Lovely stay!
We enjoyed being away from the city yet car access to Dungarvan and bike rentals.

Cottage
We enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The house was large and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and having access to laundry was very helpful. The 2 electric fireplaces added warmth on a few rainy, damp days. We enjoyed the board games with our children. The WiFi worked well when we needed to be connected. One area that could use improvement is the shower. The water pressure was not great, the drain was not working well (even a quick rinse resulted in standing in dirty water) and the shower could use a bit of updating.

Wonderful relaxing stay
This house is located on a quiet country side. The surrounding and the house is peaceful and relaxing. The beds are comfortable. We all had our best sleep there. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. We go to the grocery stores at nearby towns and cooked dinners at the house. The house location is convenient to access the local beaches with drive. We also visited Lismore castle; Tramore beach, Cobh, Cork, and Kinsale while stay at this house. The drive along the coast line toward the Tramore beach (Newton Cove) was breathtaking. The hosts, Katy and Todd, were responsive and friendly. If we came back to visit the county Waterford, we would love to stay at this house again.

About the host

Hosted by Katy Salzman

Host profile image
Todd and Katy are both teachers in the United States. They have spent many summers in Old Parish with Katy's parents who bought Ballintlea House for a holiday and retirement home over 30 years ago. They now hope to share this beautiful and culturally rich part of Ireland with others.

Why they chose this property

Ballintlea House has been in the family since the early1990s. Many years have been spent enjoying the beautiful Irish coast, getting to know the friendly people in the Gaeltacht (Old Parish and Ring), and touring around the "Sunny Southwest". The West Waterford area offers so much in the way of natural beauty, cultural events, historic sites and recreational activities. It is truly a gem for those who have never ventured to this part of the Emerald Isle.

What makes this property unique

The home is situated in a lovely, rural and peaceful area in West Waterford. It is close to the coast and features excellent ocean fishing, golf, hiking, swimming, biking, and sightseeing. A short drive takes you into Dungarvan, Ardmore, Lismore and Youghal which afford a wide range of excellent dining options, live entertainment venues and plenty of shopping. Local artisans and craftsmen offer some of the finest crystal, pottery and art in the region.
