Historic Bonanza Inn Room 2 in Virginia City
Please visit Heritage Accommodations for check-in instructions.
This building was constructed in eighteen-sixty six and served as the county courthouse during Virginia City's stint as the territorial capital. When the present courthouse replaced this one, 3 Catholic Sisters of Charity from Leavenworth, Kansas came and opened St. Mary's Hospital for miners. The hospital briefly prospered till the placer gold was exhausted in. In nineteen forty Mr. Bovey remodeled the interior as a hotel but little has changed on the exterior from the eighteen seventies. The space The Inn is located one block from the historic district.

This old historic building is steeped in history. It is very clean, perfect accommodation for anyone who wants an emersive experience in Virginia City and take a step back in time. I would suggest ths Bonanza Inn to anyone and we will be staying there again in furure visits.
We were a group of 4 adults. The Bonanza was clean and conveniently located. Katlyn directed us to a great restaurant for dinner. We went to Ennis for rodeo and 4th of July parade and also toured Nevada City. It was all great fun and while we only stayed one night, we all agreed that we would not hesitate to book rooms at the Bonanza in the future.
Queen bed was very comfortable, sheets and pillow cases were awesome!! Very soft and comfortable. No TV so just be aware of that. Room is small, no desk or table space, no in-room coffee although coffee maker and coffee is in the common area for the making. We chose not to. In-window A/C was fine with just the fan on but the A/C was loud, rattle-ly and noisy, but it cooled the room well.
My expectations were not very high for this small property and I was pleasantly surprised. The Inn is a block off the main street and very walkable to everything in town. It is a low frills place, but very comfortable. We did not hear our neighbors, the bed was comfortable, there were plenty of towels, outlets and lights. Each room has its own air conditioning, which we really appreciated. We were here over the 4th of July and had a wonderful time. I definitely recommend a stay at the Bonanza Inn.
Cute place. Off the beaten path so less noisy than “town”. This is a converted space. 5 other rooms with a shared entry where you can get coffee and visit. Rooms are small but cute. Loved the blanket on the bed. My only criticism is the tub slopes toward the drain, so I would not recommend it for older folks or anyone with balance issues. A non skid tub insert and hand rail would help. Otherwise, it’s a great room. Check in was easy and communication swift.
