Werder: Island idyll on the Havel
Werder (Havel) is 30 km southwest of Berlin and 15 km west of Potsdam in the state of Brandenburg. The old town is located on an island in a broad, lake-like arm of the Havel. The sunny climate has made the island town the world's northernmost wine-growing region for quality wines (http: // weinbau-lindicke. De). The city's two landmarks, the neo-Gothic Holy Spirit Church and the restored post mill, are visible from afar. A stroll through the flower-filled, narrow streets with nostalgic cobblestones gives rise to Mediterranean flair. Romantic photo motifs complete the tour of the island on the waterfront. Swimming, surfing and paddling are not only possible on the Havel, but also on the surrounding swimming lakes. Boat owners have over 1,000 berths available. Passenger ships offer tours on the Havel as well as trips to Potsdam, Brandenburg and Berlin. In addition to wine growing, fruit growing has become a tourist magnet. The “Panoramaweg Werderobst” runs through the hilly landscape and is particularly easy to discover by bike. Numerous fruit farms make it possible to taste and purchase regional products such as fruit wines, vegetables and the famous WERDER tomato ketchup. The fruit growing museum provides interesting facts about the history of fruit growing. A bike tour through the Glindower Alps can be combined excellently with a visit to the Brandenburg brick museum in the Glindow district. Every spring, the tree blossom festival attracts several hundred thousand visitors to the city of blossoms. Young visitors can look forward to a day in the indoor play paradise "Meer for kids". The effort of climbing up the Bismarckhöhe is rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the forest and lake landscape.
The property is located on a quiet residential street facing south.
Berlin and Potsdam are very easy to reach by public transport (train RE 1, bus 631). In addition, excursions can be undertaken with the White Fleet and the Kulturbus line 607.
