Highly Recommend Staying Here!!
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The property is very centrally located so you are within a 10 minute drive to fun activities in all directions. The cabin was clean, nicely decorated, ii is a perfect for a large family to stay at with a huge fenced in backyard! It also came furnished with a lot of the essentials to get you started. Our family of 6 stayed there 6 nights and we still had 2 open beds. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it!!

Pivot to Glacier NP
We had planned a vacation at Yellowstone, but had to pivot at the last minute, days before to find another place to go due to the flooding and landslide there in late June. We figured there were no reviews on this cute place since the owners stated it was new. So we took a chance and were glad we did. The check in was organized and Lisa and Oscar checked up on us the next day by email to see if we needed anything or had questions--very professional. The place was extremely clean and even nicer in person. One of the bedrooms had two huge, cozy bunk beds, one pair decorated with the softest fleece and the other with a patchwork quilt. Our daughter, 8, adored this room and hopefully the hosts will add a photo of this room to show other children/families. The other bedroom had a queen with Americana decor and wildlife art (my teen son enjoyed it). The master suite had a large ensuite and the king was super comfortable. I am a light sleeper, but it was fairly quiet except for occasional noise from the main highway early in the morning, but the days are long there in the summer so I was up early anyway. We enjoyed cooking on the grill on the front deck, as well as roasting marshmallows in the fire pit in the large private backyard. The kitchen and dining room were a joy to use since all furniture, cooking appliances and tools were new. We have stayed in many rentals and this was an exception. The house is conveniently located to the West Glacier entrance with great access to plenty of white water rafting, fly fishing, e-bike/bike rentals, etc nearby. Just beware you need to obtain the Going-to-the-Sun Road pass to get into that entrance (and vehicle permit), not just to get onto that road...we were only able to get the pass on the 3rd day/attempt by accessing the NPS website by cell phone, NOT laptop. The pass is not needed for the Two Medicine entrance/area which is lovely and not to be missed (big horn sheep!) but the drive is ~1.5 hr away. We used the kayaks (on the gorgeous Lake McDonald) provided by Lisa and Oscar and rented one of their ATVs (a rowdy adventure--my daughter's favorite) too. Tasty food is close too, we found fresh morels in a produce stand across the main highway and a decent TexMex burrito stand, as well as outstanding North Carolina-styled barbeque at "Sunflower Cafe" in the Glacier Campground. The Stationmaster house was a superb rental that was well-managed; thank you Lisa and Oscar.

About the host

Much of the early history of Glacier is the story of the Great Northern Railway. The railway helped promote legislation that established Glacier National Park in 1910. James J. Hill, president of the railroad, not only built a railroad, but he created an empire of towns and ranches along the tracks from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Seattle, Washington. This route today is still called the Empire Builder.

With the help from his son, Louis, JJ's vision was to make the area the "Playground of the Northwest." The Hills invested a substantial amount of money in the area. A chain of hotels, chalets, boats, roads, and trails were designed and built to attract tourists. The railroad tapped into the market of wealthy Americans who generally took lengthy trips to Europe and lured them to Glacier with the slogan "See America First." Of course, to get to the parks they would ride the railroad. The railroad was the major concessionaire and developer of visitor facilities in Glacier from 1910 until after World War II.
