About this property

5-star-rated house with a pool, 5 bedrooms, sleeps 10

Domaine de La Chassagne
This exceptional 5-star gîte is much more than an accommodation, it is a real enchanted interlude, nestled where the gentle hills of the Charolais meet the bocage lands of the Brionnais and the edges of the Bourbonnais. It is a collector's residence that seems suspended in time, offering a sensory experience between historical refinement and wild nature.
Upon arrival, the 7-hectare park and the enchanting view of the Arconce valley impose serenity. The estate is a celebration of biodiversity and the art of gardens:
A majestic aviary welcomes collector's pheasants with shimmering plumage and peacocks that wander superbly. On the private pond, black swans and ducks trace peaceful furrows on the shimmering water.PGJyPgA vast vegetable garden, carefully designed, testifies to the generosity of the Burgundy land.
All around, the traditional bocage, with its living hedges and stone walls, ensures total privacy and a breathtaking view of the hilly countryside.
The living room:
The main living space is a feat of interior decoration, mixing classic codes and contemporary audacity. Under elaborate cornices, the room offers a deep colour palette and a powerful and refined chromatic contrast: a vibrant green reminiscent of the vegetation of the outdoor park and an intense terracotta bringing incandescent warmth. The black and white chequerboard floor structures the whole while the anthracite furniture gives depth and a touch of modernity.
The decoration is not only aesthetic, it tells a storey.
The elegant furniture with eclectic influences mixes eras. Rattan chairs, toile de Jouy blinds with monkey and ostrich motifs, Chinese plant pots and ceramic stools in trompe l'oeil of tree trunks bring a touch of exoticism, while the fluted sofa and armchairs with paisley patterns evoke the comfort of the family homes of yesteryear. Thanks to a profusion of green plants and antique objects, the space is transformed into a warm winter garden. It is a theatre set, air-conditioned for absolute comfort, where every detail invites you to travel motionless.
The multiplication of light sources (pleated pendant lamps, table lamps, golden wall lamps) creates a hushed and mysterious atmosphere once night falls.
The television with the latest OLED technology is discreet drowned in the dark-coloured library.
The Suites: Luxury and History
The floors house suites, each of which has its own theme designed as sanctuaries of softness.
On the ground floor:
The Empire Room:
The space is structured around a hushed atmosphere, bathed in natural light and golden reflections. A true journey through time, it pays homage to the splendour of the nineteenth century, composed of period furniture pieces with sober and majestic lines. The walls are hung with precious fabrics decorated with palmettes and laurel wreaths in the sand and gold tones emblematic of the Empire style and the windows are adorned with custom-made, thick and elegantly draped glazed brown silk curtains held together by rich trimmings and whose heavy fall ensures a hushed darkness.
The mahogany of the furniture, the cashmere of the bedspread, the candelabra of the bedside tables with Egyptian motifs are references to the early nineteenth century.
The bathroom of Venus:
Adjoining the bedroom, the bathroom extends the historical experience with a touch of theatricality. It's an ode to sensuality and relaxation: With a unique view of the vegetable garden, a panoramic wallpaper depicting "Venus at the Bath" in grisaille transforms the room into an antique fresco and creates a fascinating visual depth.
A retro pedestal sink and panelling painted in terracotta red, reminiscent of the colours of the frescoes of Pompeii, which were very fashionable during the Empire. A deep bathtub invites you to extended care rituals in a dreamlike setting. The cabochon floor structures the whole.

The Indian Room:
This Indian Room is an ode to the exoticism that fascinated eighteenth-century France, a time when "Indiennes" (printed cottons) and oriental motifs transformed interiors into invitations to travel.
The walls are entirely covered with raspberry and cream Ikat pattern, creating a rhythmic and immersive visual texture. On the windows, printed canvas curtains with floral and avian motifs bring a bucolic elegance typical of the decorations of the time.
Each piece of furniture seems to have been brought back by an officer of the East India Company.
The elephant is the totemic animal of this room. It is used on side tables, sculptures or book greenhouses. Echoing the park's aviary, there are lamp bases in the shape of colourful ceramic cockerels, subtly linking the interior of the house to its natural environment.
It is a refuge where time seems to have stopped, offering a "French" living experience imbued with distant daydreams.
The art deco bathroom:
It is distinguished by a remarkable mosaic work that transforms the space into a true geometric work.
The highlight of this room is undoubtedly the walk-in shower, designed as a monumental alcove:
A play of fine vertical stripes in emerald green and white mosaic tesserae dresses the walls, extending to the ceiling for a total enveloping effect.
A stepped frame, typical of the 1930s style, highlights the opening of the shower, creating a strong architectural perspective.
An ivory mosaic covers the floor, simply highlighted by a border of small green squares that delimit the space with precision.
The choice of comfort elements scrupulously respects the authenticity of the style:
An imposing white porcelain column sink with softened lines sits in front of a circular mirror.
Chromed metal taps features star handles and elegant swan necks, evoking the luxury of the great liners of the time.
There is a tubular metal "valet" towel rail and opaline wall lamps that diffuse a flattering and soft light.
The light wood dressing table with Japanese lacquer décor from Krieger brings a warm touch to the whole.
The radiator was made by the famous ironworker Edgard Brandt in 1925.
To complete the room's theatrical look, a multi-branched black bronze chandelier contrasts with the clarity of the cream walls and mosaics.
The window, adorned with a thin white curtain, opens onto the greenery of the park, offering a constant reminder of the surrounding nature
This bathroom is a demonstration of style where the rigour of the Art Deco pattern meets the softness of the materials, offering a treatment space that is both modern and timeless.

The Boys' Room:
This room is a masterful evocation of an officer's bivouac, designed as a field tent during the First Empire. It transports the occupants into the intimacy of a Napoleonic expedition, combining the spirit of adventure with the refinement of the wallpaper.
________________________________________
The décor is based on a perfect textile illusion that transforms the volumes of the room:
The walls are entirely covered with black and white striped wallpaper creating a strong visual structure reminiscent of the canvas walls of command tents.
The theme is reinforced by pieces chosen with historical precision
The light wood furniture from the restoration period adds a little lightness to the whole
The Boys' Bathroom:
In the continuity of the bedroom, the bathroom offers a coherent and highly structured visual universe:
A radical black and white duo that gives the room a timeless elegance and great luminosity.
The character of the room is affirmed by a complex geometric floor, which brings a strong visual dynamic from the entrance.
A large walk-in shower in a retro spirit completes the set, offering top-of-the-range comfort in this décor with historical accents.
On the second floor
The girls' bedroom:
This room is a true haven of softness, treated with a refinement that evokes the charm of nineteenth-century country houses
The walls are adorned with pink and white striped wallpaper that adds height to this cathedral room. Twin beds and light wood furniture, Provençal dolls and miniature cardboard furniture reinforce the young girls' world.PGJyPgThe girls' bathroom:
The bathroom with a shower is designed like an ocean liner cabin with its porthole and mahogany-coloured wood.
The Louis XIII Room
This room is characterised by the nobility of raw materials and historical authenticity:
The whitewashed walls provide natural light and a mineral texture that underline the old character of the house. This pure white highlights the structure of the room.PGJyPgThe centrepiece of the room, the four-poster bed imposes its presence. With its drapery, it offers a real cocoon of sleep, faithful to the customs of the high nobility of the seventeenth century.
The dark, patinated wood of the furniture, a Louis XIII period inlaid wedding chest, a diamond-point wardrobe, high turned wood armchairs, contrasts beautifully with the brightness of the walls.
The bathroom of the Louis XIII bedroom
The deep black of the modern walk-in shower blends with the subtle pink of the walls and the vintage taps.
