WOODSTOCK DESIGN WATERFRONT HOUSE

This newly remodeled private waterfront cottage is just 3
minutes from the center of Saugerties, NY and 15 minutes
from Woodstock, NY. Enjoy the best of both towns: specialty
shops and boutiques, delectable food, farmers markets, live
music and glorious scenery.

The 2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage is a spacious, serene and
comfortably elegant retreat. It’s ingeniously tailored for a
romantic getaway, a family gathering, or for two friends
on a shopping-fishing-antiquing-hiking or whatever you-
cook-up weekend. It's roomy enough for a crowd, yet still
cozy and private enough for a revitalizing artist or writer’s
retreat.

No need to sacrifice urban elegance for country charm,
because here you truly have both. The house is an authentic
1930’s cottage, now airily restyled and open, with the
sophistication of a luxed-out loft. It was the beloved
childhood family cottage of former L.A. stylist Daisy Bolle,
current owner of Hudson Valley fashion mecca DIG, and
Daisy’s smashing taste is reflected in every detail of this
beautiful remodel. The house still belongs to her parents,
Mike and Robin Kramer, longtime owners of the two hottest
clothing stores in Woodstock: Woodstock Trading Post and
Woodstock Design. Luxury and cozy comfort are in this
family’s DNA.

Each room has been thoughtfully designed and decorated
to invite the outdoors in, surrounding you with resort-
style comfort. Enormous windows and French doors to the
stunning deck provide an all-day display of the renowned
ever-changing Hudson Valley light. Keep them open to savor
evening breezes and glowing sunsets, and then light a cozy
fire in the living room fireplace or the fire pit on the deck, which you can also see from
the bedroom.

This rare property includes direct access to the Esopus
Creek, famous for summer and winter sports. Take a dip
or launch a kayak from your private dock, onto the smooth
glide of the creek. Once there, let the world slip by as your
stress slides away. Take a photo safari up this Hudson Valley
Nile, capturing shots of nesting egrets, cranes and swans.
Nature provides a daily surprise in this sought-after
Hudson Valley setting, known for its mountains, woods,
and meandering rivers. Poets and painters will find enough
inspiration to last the rest of the year. You might even nab
a prime trophy bass. The gentle lapping of the creek will
serenade evening star–gazing and cocktails on the deck, or
a night of barbeque and games with the kids. Linger over
lattes and the morning papers while you plan the day’s
adventures. You may just decide relaxing on the deck is all
the adventure you need.

When it’s time for sleep, sink into sumptuous king-sized
beds in both bedrooms. One of the two couches in the
living room also folds out into a queen mattress. Linens
are provided for you, including silk-like soft Beechwood
sheets, down blankets and pillows, and fluffy bath sheet-
sized towels laundered with Seventh Generation unscented
detergent. The bath features radiant-heat floors, iridescent
artisan tiles, heated towel racks and a floating vanity.
The pantry is stocked with gourmet basics like
coffee, tea, and the fridge holds choice
breakfast goodies. Whether you’re a
seasoned cook or just want to whip up some smoothies, the
kitchen — with its gleaming industrial chic appliances and
a five-burner gas stove with convection oven — will satisfy
your appetite for customized, supreme efficiency.

You’ll be cozily secluded, tucked onto a quiet lane in
Saugerties, recently named by Frommer’s as one of
America's 10 Coolest Small Towns. Saugerties — hilly and
rich with hidden treasures like upscale breakfast joints,
antique shops, places to enjoy micro brews or perfect
cappuccinos, is a funky blend of historic Catskill charm and
local artistic flair. For horse fans, HITS summer events are
fast becoming the talk of the town.

Woodstock is a scenic 12-minute drive, offering miles of
mountain trails, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery, day trips
for picnics, secluded swimming holes, hiking and biking, a
rich rock ‘n roll history and unique restaurants and shops,
including a huge weekend flea market.

Additional features include:

The Roku offers access to premium channels, including
HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax, EPIX, On Demand, and Netflix!
Living Room has 40” Samsung smart TV with Netflix & whole-house DVR
DVD player.
Bedrooms both have flat screen TVs, full cable. DVR in master bedroom.
Whole-house DVR playback box in second bedroom 2.
Oh, and we’re POOCH-friendly with NO PET FEE!

Last minute weekend DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE. All credit
cards accepted and welcome.

Lovely Easter Weekend at the Lake Cottage
We had a wonderful stay at the lake cottage. The cottage was just as pictured-- immaculate, comfortable, and right on the river. The neighborhood is very quiet and close to town. We can't wait to return!

Sweet place in Saugerties
We arrived easily as the property is close to a major highway. The town is charming. It is a cool day in March! The house was warm, comfortable, very clean and quiet. We felt safe here. There were amenities, though listed, were still nice surprises. (I never knew I would WANT a towel warming rack.) It was chilly outside, so we enjoyed the river view from the living room. We brought our two small dogs and our grrrls felt right at home with us. Neighbors were cordial when we saw any. You have modern technologies installed, we went to 'de' tech and could. Weather cut our long weekend short, but we are very glad we went and have this on the top of our "We would stay here again" list. Thank you Steve for providing a place so lovely. Mercedes P.S. The goodies you left were so thoughtful. Now I am on a mission to find that delicious bread locally.

Bucolic Retreat on the Water
Steve was a great host. The check in was a breeze and the house was ready for us. The grill and outdoor firepit were fully replenished with propane and both worked great. I want to buy the same grill this house has because it was fantastic! The house is located on a quiet street on a beautiful creek. I’d love to come back when the weather is nicer and go kayaking. Diwntiwn Saugerties is just a few minutes away and was delightful. We are at Miss Lucy’s and The Dutch, both of which were wonderful. The local independent bookstore (Inquiring Minds) is fantastic; we grabbed a coffee and browsed for well over an hour and found some great books and records. Thanks for great retreat!

Giving thanks on the creek!
We've stayed at this house several times but this was our first visit in the winter, and we stayed with friends for Thanksgiving. The house was lovely and warm and it's a great chef's kitchen! As ever, breakfast was waiting, communication with the host is great, and the lovely location is just as beautiful in late fall.

Beautiful cabin
Three girlfriends rented this well appointed cabin for a long weekend. We found it charming and in a beautiful little quiet neighborhood. Would be a super fun place for a small family right on the Esopus Creek. Well located and would definitely come again!

4/21/14 BACK TO THE WATERFRONT
On August 6, 2001 I wrote a story of us buying our weekend house in Saugerties. All our friends thought we were crazy to buy a vacation house 15 minutes from our house in Woodstock.
It was in 1992 and Saugerties was still a town that was down on its luck. There were a lot of empty stores. Our house, only one mile from town,
seemed a million miles away with the deck cantilevered over the Esopus Creek.
In my story I told of happily buying antiques and chatckas from the stores in town for our house that had been built from a kit from Sears in the 30’s.
Fast forward to 2014. Daisy, our stylish daughter, who had spent 15 years in LA, came home with her husband Van and five month old daughter Starla. They stayed in our cottage while they established their boutique DIG in Saugerties. After a year they bought their own house on the creek.
This year Daisy and Van decided that our house needed an update. They wanted our house to be totally cool, down to the Jonathan Adler dishes that they sell in their store. With their taste and our credit card the house was totally transformed. There’s a smart TV that gets every channel plus Netflix, YouTube, Face Book and anything else you can think of.
There’s a new stylish kitchen and the bathroom is ultra-luxurious with its radiant heated floor and heated towel rack. The small windows in the master bedroom were replaced with French doors to the deck. A larger window was put in the second bedroom that allows a full view up the creek. The wood floors were sanded and a high gloss finish makes them glow.
continued below.....

Why they chose this property

The final touch to remove any signs of the old place was painting the wood ceiling white.
Since we bought the house the land across the creek became the Esopus Creek Conservancy
Thanks to the marvels of the internet (which didn’t exist when we bought the house in 1992) we are able to rent it out by the week when we are not using it.
Brains or luck? We were thinking of buying in Phoencia, which probably would have gotten washed away during Irene. Saugerties has become one of the ten coolest towns in the U.S.
I think it was destiny.
We loved the water for kayaking, swimming and hearing the water as we doze off to sleep. We always loved sitting on the deck or kayaking watching the changing fall foliage

What makes this property unique
