You'll be staying in the heart of the historic town of Loches, on the pedestrianized shopping street. Stroll through the lively alleyways, stop for a drink on a terrace, and discover the many restaurants offering cuisines from around the world.
As you walk up the pedestrian street, pass through the Royal Gate to access the medieval town and visit the royal castle of Charles VII, as well as the impressive 37-meter-high keep, a masterpiece of 11th-century military architecture. From its terrace, enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the entire town of Loches.
The region is full of must-see sites:
Beauval Zoo, one of the finest in Europe, less than 30 minutes away (allow a full day),
Chenonceau Castle, about 25 minutes away,
Amboise, with its royal castle and Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci's last residence.
Take the time to discover Chédigny, a designated "remarkable garden village," as well as the magnificent castles of Montpoupon and Montrésor.
Nature lovers can enjoy the many hiking trails through the state forest, populated by centuries-old oak trees, some of which contributed to the reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, or explore the Brenne region, nicknamed the "land of a thousand ponds."
Southern Touraine is brimming with treasures to discover… and still holds many wonderful surprises in store. 🌿🏰
