Neighborhood Description

Key Largo Kampground is conveniently located a few blocks away from a shopping plaza with Publix Supermarket, walk-in clinic, public library, and numerous specialty shops and restaurants.

Key Largo is the first of the fabulous Florida Keys and is the self-proclaimed Dive Capital of the World. It is home to the world's largest artificial reef, the 510-foot USS Spiegel Grove, the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the African Queen. Everglades National Park is just a short trip away from Key Largo. Diving, snorkeling, and glass-bottom boating in the clear waters of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary are fantastic experiences.

Watersport activities in Key Largo are plentiful, including fishing, kayaking, and swimming with the dolphins. Or, just relax with a tropical beverage and watch the beautiful sunsets in one of the many restaurants and bars in the area.

Key Largo, like many of the islands in the Florida Keys, is not known for its beaches. Its water is shallow, the result of a 221-mile-long coral reef system that extends from Miami to the Dry Tortugas National Park near Key West. However, there are several man-made beaches that skirt waters teeming with tropical fish.

Key Largo Kampground and Marina

There are 2 small quiet beaches inside the gated community where the property is located.

John PenneKamp Coral Reef State Park Pennekamp has two sandy beaches open to the public for a fee. The first is called Far Beach. This palm-lined, man-made sandy beach attracts sunbathers and beachcombers. The water is calm, warm and shallow, making it a good swimming spot, especially for children. A portable rollout mat called the Mobi-Mat is installed across the sand, providing wheelchair accessibility.

The second is Cannon Beach, located beside the fishing pier in Largo Sound. Cannon Beach, famous for its 17th century cannon mounted right on the sand, as well as remnants from a Spanish shipwreck planted in the water. Like Far Beach, Cannon Beach is man-made, but with its abundance of sealife and tropical fish, including tarpon and barracuda, the site is used frequently for snorkeling. No more than 100 feet from shore snorkelers can view the barnacle-encrusted ship’s cannons and an ancient iron anchor, among other artifacts.

Harry Harris and Founders Parks

The closest beaches to Key Largo outside of John PenneKamp Coral Reef State Park are a few miles south.

Harry Harris Park is at mile marker 93 between Key Largo and Islamorada. The park features a small sandy beach with a roped-off swimming area, children’s playground, boat ramp, picnic tables and restrooms. The Harry Harris Park beach is open to the public, and admission is free on weekdays.

Farther south, close to mile marker 87, Founders Park offers family fun with a beach, skate park, baseball fields, and an olympic pool with a shallow section. Other amenities include picnic tables and restrooms.

Anne's Beach

Anne's Beach is at mile marker 73 in Islamorada. Named for environmentalist Anne Eaton, the beach features a shallow swimming area, covered picnic tables, and a quarter-mile-long wooden boardwalk connecting two small parking lots. The areas around the parking lots can be crowded, but five covered picnic pavilions farther down the boardwalk offer a bit more seclusion. Anne’s Beach fronts the Atlantic Ocean, but because of the shallow water, there are gentle currents and few waves.

Clean, chill place!

Loved the warm saltwater swimming pool and the kayaks! Everyone we encountered was super friendly. The boat launch was a short walk from the rental place and the boats came with removable wheels for transporting. Publix was right next door making shopping easy. I'd also back up the recommendation we got for fresh seafood at Eat Florida Seafood. Celeste was easy to communicate with!!!

Great place to stay

Great place to stay in Key Largo. Key Largo is much better then Key West for the location and less people. Trailer is a trailer and expected the small size. Place was very clean and overall nice. Bed needs to be replaced as it sagged where people have slept. Other than that, everything was great. Would recommend to anyone. Host was great to communicate and deal with!

Awesome Stay in Key Largo

We had a wonderful time in Key Largo and staying at the Key Largo Kampground. The area was fantastic and the accommodations were excellent. Celeste addressed all of our questions and provided great recommendations as well. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay very much. The bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of space for our 4 night stay. Used the available kayaks one morning for a nice quiet paddle around the mangroves. The location is close to many great restaurants and was also handy for both a snorkel trip and going to Marathon Key for a day on the beach. Overall I would highly recommend a stay here.

Great hopping off point for exploring the Keys

The property is very clean and quiet and has all the amenities you’re looking for; there is a Publix grocery store within walking distance or a very short drive. The kayaks are a lovely way to explore the mangroves and make your way into Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The neighbors were friendly and recommended restaurants. We’d endorse Denny’s Latin Cafe for some delicious Cuban food, and Sharkeys for live music, a great beer selection and pub food.

Great place to stay

The house was spotless and very comfortable. We lacked nothing. The master bed was so comfortable! I have back issues and had better sleep than in my own bed. Spotless check in and Celeste was always on top of things and always available if you needed anything. Very quiet property which we loved. Very relaxing. Thank you so much Celeste!

A little slice of paradise

My girlfriend and I stayed at this lovely little rental for my birthday mid April. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. The cleanliness and comfort of the trailer was far beyond my expectations! The location was perfect a quick drive to both Miami International Airport, and Key West which was on my list to visit for my birthday. But my favorite day was when we took out the kayaks and explored the water ways adjoining the campground. Highly recommend this rental the host was awesome and the place is too!

Perfect home away from home in the Keys.

We have always rented a condo when vacationing in Florida. I had never thought of staying in an RV until a listing came up in my VRBO search. We have never vacationed in the Keys before and this wound up being the perfect accommodations. Our stay exceeded our expectations. Communication with Celeste was always prompt and friendly. Their RV was exceptionally clean and very cozy. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the mangroves in front of the campground in their kayaks. The few neighbors/people we met at the campground were all friendly. For our first trip to the Keys, we couldn’t have asked for more. Wonderful location. Plenty of restaurants and right next to the grocery store. We can’t wait to return. Thank you, Celeste, for sharing your home with us.

Most comfortable bed ever!

Clean, easy access to highway and grocery store. It was a 5-10 minute drive to most things in Key Largo. The beach is a silt-bottom so there is no visibility to see anything in the water. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use the kayaks. The most awesome thing was the bed. I am lucky to sleep 6-7 hours at home. I can't stay comfortable. We slept 8-9 hours each night here and woke feeling AMAZING. The king pillows doubled as a body pillow. The split in the bedroom made it a consistent and comfortable temp all night. The coffee maker is a blessing. FYI, we found additional coffee pods in the back room. Celeste was always very responsive to all communication.

Key Largo

The property is located in a campground for both RVers and tent campers. The place has playground, laundry, swimming pool and a marina with a boat launch area. A short walk takes you to two small beaches that are great for hanging out. The trailer is comfortable and equipped with a full kitchen should one want to do all the cooking at the trailer. The place also has an outdoor kitchen and two seating areas under a covered patio. I found the place to be relaxing and quiet and having two TVs was a treat. Key Largo has plenty of outdoor activities and many restaurants to choose from. There are several state parks to visit close by.

This was our first time to stay in an RV. It was clean and had everything we needed but of course it was very small and many things seemed delicate, as if they might break if we weren't very careful. Ex I was worried I would fall thru the shower floor. It was easy to find the property and it was conveniently located within walking distance of a grocery store. We did not spend any time outside because of the noseeums biting the minute we walked out the door, even with bug spray! The tiny little beach did not look inviting for swimming or kayaking, especially with the sign warning to watch out for alligators. That was disappointing, I was hoping to take advantage of the kayaks on the property and one of the reasons we chose this place. It was nice to be able to have access to a full kitchen to cook meals and it was a good experience to try out an RV. The host was very attentive and helpful. There was nothing wrong with this property, just not our cup of tea. Thanks

Feels Like Home

The entire property is well kept and clean! From the moment we pulled up, we were so impressed with how perfect even the outdoor seating area was. When you first open the door, you are met with a very freshly cleaned smell, that makes you feel right at home! It was only me and my husband, and this place had more than enough room for us. Ladies, if you are thinking about brining your makeup mirror, you can go ahead and leave that at the house. Celeste supplies a makeup mirror, so save that extra room in your suitcase for goodies! The shower offered enough space to bathe with comfort. To our surprise, we both showered, back to back, without running out of hot water. The kitchen had everything that needed for meals. Although we didn't do much cooking, I did snoop around to make sure we had all that would be needed in the the event that we did want to cook. I have to talk about the BED! OMG! We both slept like babies. I felt like I was in a nest! Lol! We did not end up using the kayaks, but they were located with ease. There are several spots to take them out on the campgrounds. One day, we drove down to the "beaches" at John Pennecamp. The beaches are not sandy, as we expected, but that didn't stop us from laying down some beach towels, provided by Celeste, turning on our bluetooth speaker, and catching some sun! This place was everything and more! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
