A beautiful apartment, furnished with great attention to detail. Fully equipped kitchen, terrace with a fantastic view of the Rhine plain. Who doesn't want to spend the night in a castle? In addition, a variety of offers from our experience gastronomy. Our knights' meal, fondue evenings, BBQ and more are particularly popular. v.m

For more than 25 years now, Junker Andreas and his castle ghosts have been organizing rustic knights' feasts, mounted tournaments and spectacular fire magic in the castle ruins. In our castle tavern you can enjoy regional specialties while the mountain road is at your feet.

Unbelievably good stay. Arriving after the castle was closed, and opening up the big gates to let ourselves in was spectacular, as were the views out from the balcony, facing straight out to the glorious sunset. Magical.

What a wonderful opportunity to stay in a castle! The apartment was comfortable for our family of 8. It was so neat to be able to walk around like we own the place. Everything was as described in the ad and it was easy to communicate with the managers. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

Amazing!!

The apartment was perfect for our family of 7. Responsive host. Beautiful balcony, which alone is worth the price of admission! Castle was so fun to explore and it was great to be able to enjoy it after hours. I wish we could have stayed longer!! We hope to come back someday.

The castle is authentic and a totally unique experience. It’s real. The rooms are clean and comfy. The views from each room are great. The kitchen is large and has everything you need except for food. The family room is spacious and inviting. The fireplace was fun to use. Lastly the management was super nice.

When I booked this stay, I thought it sounded like a cool experience, but it is so much better than I even expected. After the doors close, you basically have private access to the castle. The views are amazing and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. The apartment itself is clean, comfortable, and well appointed. We loved it!

Unique visit but hard to get into the rooms

Unique place to stay and the castle itself did not disappoint. But although we were able to use the checkin instructions to find the key to enter the entrance and building, we were unable to easily enter the actual building we were to stay in. No one greeted us. The place was completely empty. So remained outside our apartment without the ability to connect with the owners by email or phone. Our phones had little to no reception up on the hill and it was frustrating that so much time was spent just trying to get inside. After finally getting a return call much later from the caretakers/owners we learned that the trick to the door to get inside is to pull the doorknob towards you while turning the key. This is not obvious and very tricky. This extra information should have been put in the check-in instructions. Print out the instructions before arriving so you don’t need to rely on your phone/email to get inside. It was a bit cold and there isn’t much heat in the place so bring warmer clothes to make your sleep more comfortable. The place is not lit very well outside so bring a flashlight if you go outside. Beds were not comfortable but were clean. Only smaller autos can easily enter through the lovely wooden castle doors. Pull in your mirrors if you have a larger van like us. Would we stay again? Yes, absolutely. How often can you stay in the fortress of an abandoned castle? But I would plan better in advance to have a more enjoyable time.

Das war ein wirklich außergewöhnlicher Aufenthalt innerhalb der Mauern des Schloss Auerbach. Unfassbarer Ausblick über die Rheinebene und die umliegenden Berge. Eine großzügig große Ferienwohnung. Echt außergewöhnlich.

Super Lage, Renovierungsbedürftig

Die Lage ist super, man über die ganze Rheineben schauen. Auf der Terrasse ist der Lärm der Straßen zu hören, es ist gerade noch okay. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt genossen. Aber der Preis ist eindeutig zu hoch, denn: Im Bad ist an den Silikon fugen etwas Schimmel. Im Wohnzimmer ist das Sofa durchgesessen. Im Essensbereich ist die Wand voller Spritzer oder Macken. Steckdosenabdeckungen sind unschön und zum Teil defekt. Kaffeemaschine mussten wir erstmal gründlich reinigen, war grenzwertig.

We had 8 adults in our party and had plenty of room. All of the beds were comfortable and the comforters were perfect. The view was spectacular, especially at night. We had the castle to ourselves at night, so if you can wander the premises at night. The managers did speak English, so it was easy to communicate. I do recommend the dinner offered at the Castle. I believe it is offered on Saturday evenings.

Lovely stay at the Castle

We really enjoyed our quick stay here and wish we had time for longer! A huge apartment that very comfortably fit our 6 people. Gorgeous views, very well equipped kitchen, and loved using the fireplace. Highly recommend this very unique experience!
